Tire size for sable 16. Tires and wheels for GAZ Sobol, wheel size for GAZ Sobol

GAZ commercial vehicles leave the factory gates with 185 / 75R16C tires. At the same time, the plant allows for the use of another dimension - 215 / 65R16C. Is it worth changing shoes, Sergey Mishin found out, (copyright expressions are left unchanged).

How will the performance of the car change with the transition to fashionable wide tires? Experts took the standard Barguzin model for a “stove” and they started from it, looking at other tires. First of all, domestic, from "Sibur"; he recently had a novelty - Cordiant Business CS-501. The company will be revived by the latest developments of foreign manufacturers, the most active in Russian market: Continental Vanco 2, Michelin Agilis and Nokian Hakka S.

The carrying capacity of all tires is the same - the index is 109/107, with the exception of a more modest-sized “stove”, which has a little less - 104/102. Recall that the first number means the carrying capacity with single wheels, the second - with double wheels.

This is the first advantage of switching to wider tires - the carrying capacity increases in the 4-wheel version by 520 kg, in the 6-wheel version - by 760 kg. This does not mean that you can load more into the car, but tires with a higher carrying capacity are not so bad about potholes.

Due to the "light truck" specifics of tires, the experts of the magazine refused to place the seats in favor of identifying the features of each tire and their preference for truck or passenger cars.

The carrier was performed by a technician - "Sobol"

The tech showed clear displeasure when trying to make her a tester. The only exercise she didn't resist was run out. Even such a common test as braking on the Sobol turned out to be very difficult. The combination of an exorbitantly large effort on the pedals with very low information content does not allow clearly setting the intensity of braking: the pedal continues to fail, requiring additional pressure. It seems as if the brake lines are swelling.

Now - the actual tests. The experts of the magazine slowed down with skidding and on the verge of blocking, seeking maximum deceleration. An important property of commercial tires is rolling ease, which affects fuel consumption. Its experts determined run-offs at a speed of 50 km / h (typical for a city) and in the range of 100-80 km / h (driving outside the city).

Instead of the rigid 12-meter rearrangement usually accepted in tests, the experts performed cornering of various curvatures and configurations to assess handling.

The Yaroslavl Test Center "Vershina" helped to assess the quality of tire manufacturing, which conducted research for compliance with the requirements of GOST 25692-83 and GOST 4754-97. Bench test results are shown in a separate table. It is gratifying that all tested tires meet the requirements of Russian standards.

The uniformity of tire wear depends on the degree of imbalance, radial and lateral runout. Changes in radial and lateral forces, force inhomogeneity of the frame, including the cone effect, affect stability and controllability. The shear force of the bead characterizes the tire's ability to stay out of the bead when performing sharp maneuvers. The maximum speed at which the destruction of tires occurs, indirectly shows the reliability of their design (safety margin).

When braking on the verge of blocking, the car nods deeply, because of which the rear wheels almost lift off the ground and begin to block before the front ones, which bear the entire load. Skidding braking is no easier: in order to sharply and simultaneously block all wheels, the driver will have to stand up and press down on the pedal with all his weight! But even then the wheels are blocked with a noticeable delay. That is why the experts simply did not dare to perform such a complex maneuver as a 12-meter rearrangement. The handling of the car had to be assessed by the behavior in corners of various curvatures and configurations.

On the straight line, the "Sable" is likened to a passenger car: good directional stability. Clear reactions. In fast corners, the impression is the same - the car is controlled in a passenger way. On the wet road, the Sobol maintains clear reactions. When going over the speed, the car smoothly goes into sliding. When traction is restored, slight jerks are felt on the handlebars. They set a record for dry braking, surpassing the stove result by 10.4%. However, on a wet road, the braking distance increases by 5.2 m - a bit too much! Skid on a dry surface, they brake remarkably, only slightly inferior to Finnish tires. They roll well, but even here the Nokian is better. Large and medium irregularities go well, but a trifle is unpleasantly hard. They roll quietly, but in the tradition of Michelin they react differently to changes in the quality of the coating. They walk confidently on dirt roads. Advantages revealed in bench tests: minimum imbalance and power inhomogeneity, maximum force to shift the tire bead from the rim flange.

+ The best brakes on the verge of skidding on a dry surface, low rolling resistance, excellent directional stability and easy handling on a dry road.

- Reduced grip on wet surfaces, high price.

Preferred for passenger versions. Recommended for roads with good quality pavement. Will appeal to those for whom comfort, speed and fuel efficiency are important.

The slowest at maximum speed. However. 150 km / h is enough for "sables" and "gazelles". On a straight steering wheel is well understood, the reactions are clear. True, "Sobol" walks slightly from side to side, reacting to the side wind. When cornering, the behavior is confident, the control is clear. The car clearly follows the intended trajectory. A wet road requires increased attention - the reaction to the actions of the steering wheel becomes sluggish, the car is slightly delayed with maneuvers. The speed of cornering is limited by a slight skid, into which the Sable goes smoothly. Skid is well corrected by the steering wheel. In dry braking, it gains 1 m (5.2%) on base tires, but on wet it “gives” 2 m (8.9%). "Cordiant" does not like the wet road. The difference between braking on dry and wet roads is the greatest: on the verge of blocking - 6.3 m, skidding -1.8 m. Rolling resistance is the highest. They clearly convey small irregularities, well extinguish medium ones. They make a lot of noise, especially in the range of 60-100 km / h. On a dirt road, you can only drive in tightness, otherwise, as soon as slipping begins, the car freezes. The advantages revealed in bench tests: the minimum cone effect, the largest excess of the permissible speed, indicating the high strength of the frame and good workmanship.

+ Low price, large stock maximum speed, minimal cone effect.

- High noise levels, loss of grip and poor wet handling.

Preferred for trucks and acceptable for combined versions. Recommended only for paved roads, urban and suburban driving modes. Primers are contraindicated.

Experts took these tires as the starting point set by the factory equipment. From her and repelled, comparing the characteristics of other tires. In a straight line "Sable", shod in "Barguzin", goes unevenly, floats, and in a crosswind it strongly takes to the side. The machine is slow in its reactions; when adjusting the course, they strain large steering angles and steering the rear axle. Therefore, it is not recommended to take turns too quickly. In addition, the car is lurching; the tires are felt to break, the front end slides outward, increasing the turning radius, and the rear axle is rearranged in jerks. On a wet road, the behavior persists: the front end actively slides outward, and the rear axle can sharply slide to the side, tearing the car into a skid. Loss of traction occurs abruptly, as does recovery. The dry braking performance is the most modest. On wet asphalt, it is also not a gift: the braking distance increases by 3.3 meters. Run-outs are average - on narrow tires there is less rolling resistance. The tires are quite tough, they clearly convey all road joints to the body. They make a howling-singing sound that weakens after 80 km / h. On the primer, they allow you to move confidently in any mode. By the quality of workmanship in all nominations, they fit into the standards.

Winter is approaching, and this means that the question of choosing winter tires for Sobol 4x4 is becoming the most urgent. We present an overview of tires for driving on snow and ice in the standard "sable" dimension 225/75 R16.

Of course, the choice of tires should start with determining the conditions in which the Sobol 4x4 will be used in winter. Therefore, in our review, we presented Winter tires, as they say, "for every taste and color" - designed for completely different operating conditions: common and less, interesting and not very, expensive and relatively affordable models - and their features ... Yes, and one more thing: we focused on tires of dimensions 225/75 R16, that is, on those tires that rely on the absolutely standard "Sobol 4x4".

Also here are the opinions (regarding winter tires and their operating experience) of some owners of all-wheel drive "Sobols".
In the comments, you can write your opinion on the choice of winter tires and your experience in their operation. We think your advice will be useful to someone.

Studded tires

Studded tires are, in most cases, basic tires for some regions of Russia. Such tires show themselves excellently when operating on uncleared roads and ice crust at temperatures from +7 to -20 ºС.

In addition to excellent grip on icy roads, high-quality studded tires are characterized by less wear due to the greater rigidity of the rubber.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 12 450 rubles.

The Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8 SUV studded tire from the inventor of winter tires uses absolute innovation to withstand the extreme conditions of the northern winter. The Nokian Eco Stud 8 Concept incorporates a new generation anchor stud for comfort and confident grip on ice and snow.

The unique sidewall durability is ensured by the tire construction reinforced with aramid fibers.

These tires have won more than one victory in many tests carried out by automotive publications around the world. Of course, they are designed for those drivers who do not compromise on road safety.

Excellent, reliable grip in winter conditions, directional stability and excellent handling, acoustic comfort - these are, perhaps, one of the main advantages of the Nokian Hakkapeliitta 8. Perhaps the disadvantage of this tire is its high price.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 10,280 rubles.

Nokian Hakkapeliitta C3 studded tires are designed for professional transport - they are more durable, and stable handling is achieved even at high loads. In addition to the balanced winter grip characteristic of the Hakkapeliitta tires, the Nokian Hakkapeliitta C3 offers greater reliability and lower rolling resistance, as well as excellent handling throughout its life.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 9,710 rubles.

Designed for heavy-duty 4x4 SUVs in demanding conditions, this durable winter tire combines flawless grip and excellent handling. Owners of these tires will be pleased with the accuracy and sensitive control of the car, both on icy and snowy surfaces.

In addition to excellent grip characteristics, this model has high strength, durability and exceptional wear resistance, because the belt package of this tire contains 60% more steel than tires for passenger cars.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 9,379 rubles.

The Continental IceContact 2 SUV tires, launched for the 2015 winter season, are designed for off-road vehicles that need maximum grip in winter conditions. German engineers in this tire managed to significantly improve the level of handling on dry road surfaces by 9%, and on ice - by 2%. Also, this model guarantees reliable handling in snowy areas. Another advantage of the tire is an 8% increase in braking and traction performance on an icy surface. The new Black Magic rubber compound allows the tire to remain flexible at the lowest temperatures for maximum grip.

The tire has an asymmetric tread pattern with functional distribution of zones for excellent handling and grip on snow and dry roads. The tread shoulders guarantee optimum stability when maneuvering and cornering, while the tread elements in the middle zone provide excellent traction during acceleration and excellent grip during braking.

The innovative “Kristall stud” with a multi-faceted core has become much lighter than all its predecessors. Thanks to this, the number of studs in the tread has increased, and in the large standard sizes of this model there are half of them. The newest stud fixation technology minimized the likelihood of their pulling out of the tread while driving, as the fastening strength has increased by 4 times!

There are special pockets around each spike to drain ice chips, which improves braking performance during emergency braking on icy surfaces. The peculiarities of the studding also consist in the fact that each stud contacts the ice untouched by other studs, increasing the traction and grip properties of the tire. An additional benefit of the reduced stud size and weight is the reduced noise level.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 7,010 rubles.

Nokian Nordman 7 SUV tires are designed for off-road passenger cars.
For this tire model, the V-shaped design of the symmetrical directional tread pattern was borrowed from the popular Nokian Hakkapiilitta tires. The peculiarity of the V-shaped tread pattern is that the load is evenly distributed over the entire contact area, where traction is provided by a large number of sharp edges. Thanks to this solution, this model has good grip on snowy and icy surfaces. And the use of special components and refined oils in the rubber compound gives the tire tread elasticity at low temperatures.

As with all Nokian winter tires, this model uses the Bear Claw technology already found in Nokian Hakkapeliitta tires, which provides excellent stud grip in all directions (both longitudinal and lateral grip). ). In this case, the stud is mounted on a special shock-absorbing cushion (Eco Stud System), which prevents deformation that occurs when the tire touches a hard surface.

This model has a very attractive price-performance ratio.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 6 600 rubles.

The Hankook RW11 Winter I Pike studded tire was new for the 2013 winter season. It is designed for SUVs and crossovers, as well as light trucks and commercial vehicles.

This tire has shown good braking and traction characteristics. Compared to other tires in this segment, this tire has an 8% increased contact patch area, which undoubtedly improves braking performance on snowy and icy roads.

FRICTIONAL (NON-STAPLED) TIRES

Friction winter tires (non-studded tires, or, as they are also called, "Velcro") show themselves better (as opposed to studded tires):

  1. on cleared roads, including when driving through mud caused by the use of special reagents;
  2. on ice at temperatures below -20 ° C - in such conditions the ice crust becomes so hard that the spikes are not able to break through it;
  3. when traveling on loose snow.

In such operating conditions, the car is more suitable for friction winter tires. In addition, it is worth choosing this type of tire if you are planning trips to some EU countries - in most countries of Central and Eastern Europe, the use of studded tires is prohibited, since it destroys the roadway.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 10,000 rubles.

The new Nokian Hakkapeliitta CR3 universal friction tire is designed for winter use on delivery vans and vans, offering reliable grip and comfort. In addition to its extremely low rolling resistance, the tire offers good handling on icy, snowy and wet roads. It has excellent wear resistance and economy.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 8,026 rubles.

This tire has been designed specifically for high-performance, high-speed crossovers. For example, a special tread pattern for the MICHELIN Latitude Alpin 2 was developed in close cooperation with Porsche. Thanks to this tread pattern, the tire demonstrates excellent traction and grip on the road. But it should be noted that the tire is intended for mild winters.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 8,020 rubles.

The Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 is a non-studded winter tire for the 2014 model year. Bridgestone Blizzak DM-V2 tires are designed for use on SUVs and crossovers.

The developers of this tire assure that the Blizzak DM-V2 is specially designed for the harsh winter, and the main advantage of this tire is good contact with the road in winter conditions.

This tire model uses a new rubber compound and the patented Multi-Cell Compound technology - the use of small longitudinal grooves in the tread, the task of which is to dry the contact patch by removing the water microfilm from the ice surface.

Estimated cost (for 1 tire) - 7,020 rubles.

The tires use the latest rubber compound with silicone to maintain the elasticity of the tread at low temperatures.
Well-thought-out geometry of grooves, directional type of pattern with optimized geometry of lamellas are designed not to be afraid of snowy and wet roads, improve grip and speed cornering.
