Oh ... This couple has been given so much attention at autoforums. I will add my few words about this and I. In my opinion, this bundle is optimal for this car. The only thing that may be missing is branded all-wheel drive Quattro. Yes, Anytime's Audi Q3 is front-wheel drive.

Preselective robotic box DSG gear(DQ250) works very well, without jerks. In sport mode, it works out at 120%. After reading the forums, I was afraid that there would be jerks, jerks when switching. In my opinion, this car has enough engine, if the engine were more powerful, there would be more fines!




Equipment and interior

Complete set, as I understand it, initial. Fabric interior with comfortable seats, leather steering wheel and manual transmission knob. Unfortunately, only air conditioning, not climate control. Heated front seats. Music, by the way, is so-so.

I liked the bi-xenon headlights and LED rear lights. They shine perfectly, and it’s not in vain that many people are fans of the architecture of Audi headlights: they look gorgeous. The interior is comfortable and spacious. This is especially noticeable to me, because height is 195-196 centimeters. The back does not get tired or numb from long driving, the seats are good.

An MMI screen is installed on the central dashboard, which can be manually closed and opened. For such money, an electric drive could also be made.

There are no complaints about ergonomics either, everything is as usual with the Germans. I really didn’t like that to tilt the back you need to turn the handle on the side of the seat, like on old Volkswagens or like on the same Skoda Octavia.

Everyone wondered what would happen to a small and inexpensive brother - the Audi Q3. Will it seem too small compared to other cars?

The new model was very important for Audi. But the company's expectations were justified. Although this model costs almost half as much as the company's most sophisticated SUV, the Q3 sales volumes greatly surprised absolutely all marketers. Perhaps this is the most profitable crossover concept.

Audi Q3 is from the premium segment, so we decided to do a test drive in an unusual place - the richest quarter of Zurich. Besides stock cars, our small team of journalists also got access to prototypes that appeared on the market much later. But first things first.

Audi Q3 design

And once again, you can remember about the size. Sitting behind the wheel and looking at the car from the outside, you can’t even imagine how much space is inside. Perhaps the most efficient distribution and layout of all the parts necessary for the machine.

A screen is hidden in the central panel, which opens by pressing the cover. It has a resolution of 7 inches, can display maps, weather, control music. Maps of Russia are not very detailed, but the execution of maps of Europe is on top.

The interior styling is quite simple, but the build quality is beyond praise. High quality materials immediately set it apart from other crossovers. But there are still savings. Below the floor, everything is much worse: the door handles, the console are processed with not the most expensive materials.

There is a lot of space in the rear seats, although from the outside it creates a completely different impression. The front seats are quite compact, and all three rear seats have headrests, but still only two passengers can fit comfortably. Not too much space. But there are full-fledged armrests, with a small drawer inside and retractable cup holders. But there is not so much space under the head in the back - the sloping roof affects. The second-row seats fold into a flat floor if necessary, organizing just a huge space for luggage.

The trunk of the Q3 has a volume of 460 liters. But when inspecting the trunk revealed a drawback — a shelf. It cannot be removed anywhere, and if you are going to transport a bulky and high cargo, this will cause some inconvenience. For the sake of transporting long loads, the engineers made the front seat folding. Although optional, a configuration without a folding front seat can be ordered.

Audi Q3: technical data

The basic version is available with three motors. All two-liter, two petrol and one turbodiesel. The weakest of the gasoline - 170 hp. Only for him is available a manual transmission and front-wheel drive. But you can also order a seven-speed gearbox and all-wheel drive. A more powerful version of the 211 hp gasoline engine, as well as a turbodiesel, comes with an automatic transmission, in standard equipment. The complete set can be changed depending on preferences, you can choose a car for yourself and your requests.

In addition, recently they began to release Q3 with the best gasoline engine for 300 hp, as well as a model with a small but economical turbodiesel. You can buy an Audi Q3 with monodrive mechanics for 1,300,000 rubles. Pretty good for a car like this.

Four-wheel drive uses a multi-plate clutch as a center differential. It has electronic control and in the "standard" mode gives all the power to the front pair. If the wheels start to slip, the traction is instantly transferred to the wheel that has the best grip. The slipping wheel in this case will even slow down, since torque is not transmitted to it.

The wheelbase is almost 10 cm shorter than that of the triple's competitor, the BMW X1, which we mentioned in passing when we took it apart. Externally, competitors also differ in size. But in the cabin, oddly enough, there is even a little more space! What is the secret?

And the secret of Audi was hidden in the engine, or rather in its layout. It is located transversely and occupies a much smaller volume. This also applies to the size of the base, the parts fit compactly and do not take up much space.

Audi Q3: test drive.

The version that was tested had a 211 horsepower engine. The engine is both powerful and quiet at the same time. Also included was a seven-speed automatic transmission with two clutches. The box came out very small in size, it was placed next to the motor, which is located transversely. The car has an efficiency setting that automatically disengages the clutch. The effectiveness of this solution is controversial, not only is the closing speed very high, but also in basic configuration there is a system of stabilization and stability.

Q3 is equipped with all-wheel drive, but the car is hardly suitable for off-road use. There is only a system of assistance when driving downhill. More is not needed - Q3 was originally positioned as a crossover for the city, so the developers did not even have a goal to create something more off-road. This is also evidenced by the low ground clearance - 170 mm. But the car is still capable of driving over rough terrain at small overhang angles.

I was pleased with the suspension - there are no sharp buildups or movements from side to side. Although all this is typical for good road surfaces, on which the test drive took place. The work of the motor and gearbox immediately distinguishes a quality car. The pedal is very sensitive, responds to any manipulation. This provokes active driving and excitement, which you do not expect from a crossover. The biggest acceleration to hundreds is 6.5 seconds for the maximum configuration! But as always, not without cons. If you press the kickdown, there is a slight pause. Quite often it is annoying, but you can get used to it. Audi demonstrates the excellent qualities of a road car. In the basic configuration there is a system that actively saves fuel in traffic jams. In the city, you can achieve savings of up to 12 liters per hundred.

Conclusion

Audi Ku3 price depends mainly on the engine configuration. They start from 1,240,000 rubles, and the most sophisticated model costs 1,700,000 rubles. For many potential buyers of the Audi Q3, its price will seem too high, but there is something to pay for. Heated rear seats, the best dynamics among classmates, excellent interior design. The prehistory of this test does not begin as usual in the editorial office of the famous German automotive publication Auto Bild, but in the city of Baunatal. After 66,000 km, there were complaints about the salon. The plastic began to make noise, especially the steering column lining. Plastic panels in the leg area scratch and rub, and the cleaning process is no easier than the Japanese. The rotary MMI control is located not in the usual place on the center console, but on the front panel. The unusual control logic is also annoying: to go down the menu, you need to turn the knob to the left. The parking sound signal reports a reduction in the distance too hysterically. Highway Lane Keeping Assist is polite and correct, but gets a little jittery when the road narrows in work areas.


What really excites is the combination of engine, gearbox and chassis. It's amazing how quickly and nimbly the compact crossover takes corners, bolstered by a 2-litre diesel. TDI with its 177 HP accelerates faster than before and consumes an average of 8.2 l / 100 km. Unlike many crossovers, the Audi Q3 is very stable at high speeds. The suspension strikes the perfect balance between resilience and absorbency. No wonder the Q3 has covered 100,000 km in just 17 months.

On suburban highways, the S-Tronic box works softly and smoothly, but in city traffic it gets in the way, especially when maneuvering. With a slight pressure on the gas, nothing happens at first, but it is worth adding more, and a jerk occurs, like a novice driver. The problem is known. One of the manufacturer's recommendations is to change the oil every 60,000 km.


51,935 km - malfunction of the EGR system cooler. Since autumn 2014, a modernized unit has been installed.

During the test, the Audi Q3 visited the workshop several times. At 27,000 km, the lambda probe broke. A warranty case, as well as a defect in the cooler of the exhaust gas recirculation system. Since the autumn of 2014, the assembly has been modified by the manufacturer. There are also drawbacks to the elegant xenon headlights. The discharge lamps gave up their last breath in both units, which would cost 256 euros without warranty.


The Audi Q3 uses xenon from three companies: Hella, Philips and Mitsubishi Electric. Audi mechanics know that Philips bulbs burn out very quickly.

Toward the end of the village the battery in the key. But these are trifles compared to the annoying nuisance that happened to the gearbox. After 96,025 km, the clutch began to slip, and during acceleration, a metallic ring was emitted. The specialists from Baunatal performed two oil changes, which alleviated the situation, but did not eliminate the problem. In the end, it was decided to open the box. Result? Inside, the remains of a crumpled metal adjusting ring were found, the same one that the robot installs, under the strict control of the master.


The reason for the failure of the S-Tronic is an extra part in the box. Audi assures that this problem cannot be repeated.

Audi comment: “Slippage was due to the presence of a large amount of metal filings in the oil and their contamination of the friction linings on the clutch disc.

The investigation confirmed that a foreign metal body entered the box during assembly on the conveyor. The incident is related to the automation process introduced not so long ago. The metal ring must be taken by one of the robots and inserted into the required place. The error log recorded 8 failures on the day of production of this box.


Friction discs are badly worn. The reason is metal chips in the oil due to the destruction of a foreign body.

All the malfunctions that have occurred will cost dearly to the owner of the already not cheap Audi Q3. Audi should have done some serious work on the bugs and more carefully prepare for the production of new models in order to somehow justify the high prices.

Since launch power units were 2.0 liters. Both petrol and diesel. All with a turbine. A pair for each type of fuel. They differed in the settings of the intake system, power, traction and price. The base was considered 2.0 TFSi with a capacity of 170 liters. With. and a maximum torque of 280 Nm. Its more powerful version was "supercharged" to 211 hp. With. and up to 300 Nm at higher, however, speeds. The engines turned out to be economical and environmentally friendly, but suffering from some inherent problems. The first and main one is zhor oil. In a different way, oil consumption of up to 1.5 liters per 1000 km on a serviceable engine cannot be named. Flat pistons and thin rings are part of the problem. It seems that VW saved on the material of the cylinder wall coating. Those who ran over a hundred demonstrate frank scuffs and scratches. Soot on pistons, on valves, failures of knock sensors, catalyst and oxygen sensors - all these are eggs from one basket. Repair seems expensive only until the turbine fails. That's when the owner will know what is really expensive. This rarely happens, but if guarantee period does not hit, it eases the owner's pocket by 80,000 rubles when buying spare parts from hand. And this is the price without the cost of labor and warranty. Interestingly, tuning kits sometimes work more reliably than the original. If you dig into the Borg-Warner catalogs, you can order exactly the same turbine, but without the VW emblem for 50,000 rubles. And so with everything. A Philips bulb will cost half as much as a VAG sticker. Alas, these are the realities of the current automotive world.

Let's not talk about ecology, it's not interesting anymore

Two diesel engines with the same volume of 1968 cm3 develop 140 and 177 forces, depending on the firmware. They are very economical and powerful. A more powerful one demonstrates a maximum of 380 Nm of torque and consumes about 6 liters of fuel outside the city. I must say that this motor, which has the BKD index, is the best choice for Audi Q3. At least better than petrol. It is much more reliable, and its service is a little more expensive. And even then, given the presence of a turbine in TFSi, this difference is leveled to negligible.

However, diesel engines also have their own disadvantages. First on the list are, of course, problems with injectors, which come from two manufacturers - from Bosch and Siemens. Prices for new ones are 180 and 300 € respectively. Yes, I almost forgot - these are pump-injectors, and therefore expensive. If the motor overheats, and this also happens, then the head of the block cracks, which will cost 36,000 rubles without removing and installing and other work to replace it. sudden headache they can add DPF filters, popularly nicknamed "particulate". They get clogged pretty quickly, and the engine runs worse, consuming more and more fuel. Then the engine goes into "afterburning" mode, which does not always end well. Then the filter needs to be replaced or cleaned in the service. To thoroughly clean the filter yourself, the car must be well thrown along the highway, but the city crowd will surely destroy it. A less powerful version of the diesel engine - 2.0 TDI CR - allows you to repair nozzles, and generally gives the owner a minimum of problems.

Problems arose with the EGR system, which was completely replaced in 2014, when restyling came out. Replacing the cooler, and it was he who refused, costs at least 12,000 rubles. A sign of problems is floating idle.

So far, this has not happened with the Audi Q3, and no one knows how much it will cost. Probably expensive...

Close Q3 brother Tiguan, even in the most expensive configuration, falls short of Audi, where there is an MMI communication interface, rich trim, and a lot of security systems and all kinds of assistants. Surprisingly, all this works reliably and efficiently. True, there was, they say, a batch assembled immediately after the New Year holidays, where everything failed, from the electric amplifier to the seat drive, but these are most likely bikes launched by competitors. What is true is that the interior can creak after a couple of years of operation. Leather, plastic and something else in the depths. The creaks, however, are barely audible over the curses of the driver, who is trying to figure out the management of the MMI. Suddenly discovered scratches on the plastic upset no less than confusing controls on-board computer. Fortunately, they appear only where the legs of passengers and the driver live, so few people pay attention to them.

“K-third” is one of the few Volkswagen models currently on sale that are NOT built on the MQB modular platform, but on more archaic ones. The compact premium crossover Q3 is based on two “bogies” at once: PQ35 and PQ46. Actually, they are practically no different, but the second one is slightly larger than the first and is designed for D-class cars. Audi A3, SEAT Altea, Volkswagen Golf fifth generation, Volkswagen Tiguan or second generation Skoda Octavia. PQ 46 is /, Passat CC and Skoda Superb II.

From the very start of production, since 2011, they installed on the Audi Q 3, developed by Audi specialists back in 2007. Changing the oil is not a burdensome procedure. About three and a half thousand will have to pay for the oil itself, another 570 rubles for the filter. Of course, everyone knows that oil filter you can't save. Yes, and it’s not so expensive as to try to earn money on analogues for a house in Florida. The problem lies elsewhere: there are a lot of fake filters for VW engines on the market, so you don’t have to buy them in dubious places. Yes, and it cannot cost two hundred rubles, so it’s better to find a good analogue than a fake original. This is if the toad is completely choking.

Cost of oil and filter change

The replacement cost is 600 rubles. This is the average cost of an oil change, if it is cheaper in your city, then I am very happy for you. The main thing is that the procedure is completely standard, and therefore inexpensive.

The air filter costs 1,050 rubles. Here, of course, you can look for an analogue. Yes, and you can replace it yourself, there is nothing complicated in the operation. If there is no desire to turn the screws yourself (and here it is they who hold the housing cover, and not the latches), then at the service station they are ready to do this for you for 350 rubles.

The service belt serves its resource honestly, it costs a set of 2,800 rubles, a replacement is 1,500 rubles. And now the interesting begins.


Chain stretch on a two-liter engine is not as common as "oil burner". And yet, it has far from a record resource, and if not the first, then the second owner should be ready to replace it. It is not as expensive as, for example, on some V 8: spare parts will cost 35,000 rubles. Work is still at 22,500. In general, of course, the amount is rather big, so when buying a car with such an engine, it is worth evaluating the condition of the chain in advance.

Fighting the "maslozhor" is more difficult. Firstly, not everywhere they can accurately determine the cause of this sad phenomenon, and secondly, not everywhere they will be able to eliminate it.

The photo shows that our car is sweating turbine. It cannot be said that this is a completely criminal phenomenon, this can be allowed. But do not believe those who say that eating oil with a turbocharged engine is the norm. This is a deviation that needs to be corrected.


Antifreeze replacement

800 rubles

One of the enemies of this motor is overheating, which also leads to an oil appetite. Therefore, we carefully monitor not only the oil level, but also the condition of the cooling system. By the way, replacing antifreeze is also not expensive - only 800 rubles (without the cost of antifreeze, of course).

To prevent the turbine from bent ahead of time, the service specialist advises letting the car run on Idling after the end of the trip. Old as the world, but effective. And another breakdown that periodically pops up is a "glitch" of the "start-stop" system. It is better to contact the dealer with this, not every multi-brand service will want to poke around in the Audi electrician.

Transmission

Another problematic unit is the "robot" S-tronic. In fact - DSG 7, but not "the same" dry, but with clutches in an oil bath. This box is designed for torque up to 600 Nm, so with a relatively quiet Q3 motor she is quite comfortable. If you don’t and don’t drive hard, then up to 120-150 thousand mileage you will hardly have to google"repair DQ500 price" and be horrified.


The main thing is not to forget to change the oil in it more often, because the clutch friction discs actively dirty it. Once every 50 thousand is the maximum, it can be more often, since the procedure is not too expensive by the standards of premium cars: 9,800 rubles for oil, work - 2,500. and 500 rubles will change the oil in one gearbox, and for the same amount - in transfer box. For oil, you will have to pay 2,630 for each node.

Otherwise, there is no need to complain about the transmission. The all-wheel drive is based on the fifth generation Haldex clutch (before restyling - the fourth), in general, everything is quite reliable and does not present surprises.

Chassis and brakes

From below, the Q 3 is much more boring than one might think. Front - MacPherson, rear - multi-link. Both suspensions are on subframes. Let's start with the front suspension.


It is difficult to say whether there are obvious weak spots. On the undercarriage Q 3 complaints are not that many. The rear silent blocks may crack, but in this case it is better to change the levers as an assembly, there is no point in repressing. There are services and specialists who will undertake such work, but the resource of silent blocks is not so bad as to “cut” on this. The lever assembly costs 13,300 rubles, its replacement is 1,600.


But the ball joint can be easily replaced separately, it is bolted. The price of the part is 3,600 rubles, the work will cost 1,500.

The back is even easier. And the only problem can be breakup bolts, which can be considered an absolutely standard situation for a car with a rear multi-link. There is nothing fatal, it is necessary to carry out their prevention at least once a year and not bring them to the point that they have to be cut off.

Particularly economical owners of Q 3 may be upset by the price of brake pads and discs. The kit is really not budgetary: 5,180 are the front pads and 3,500 are the rear ones. Disks and does 12,240 and 10,100 rubles, respectively. Replacing the front pads will cost only 700 rubles, but the rear ones - already 1,580. The difference in price is due to the need to adapt the electronic parking brake carried out with a scanner. The cost of replacing the brake discs also differs by the same 880 rubles: 2,000 for the front and 2,880 for the rear discs.

Body and interior

Unfortunately, recently, such cars with “glitches” of saloon electrics are increasingly coming to the service. And this is not always good: the dealer will often be able to find some floating fault faster than a multi-brand, albeit good, service. If only because they maintain a common knowledge base on typical breakdowns. For example, on a similar car there were problems with door handles (we are talking about keyless entry handles). They tried to repair them, but this does not last long. It is better to immediately buy new ones, paint and install.


And one more body problem is also typical for many cars: too large cells of the radiator grill easily let pebbles and other rubbish from the road pass to it. The air conditioner radiator will die first (because it is the first one along the way), and dirt can do a disservice to the engine cooling system and the gearbox radiator. The photo shows that there are already defects on the radiator of the air conditioner. The way out is also obvious: to put a grid. And it is desirable to do it on time.


What is the result?

If the car is relatively fresh, with a confirmed mileage, and it was not “collective farmed” with additional electrical equipment or chip tuning, then there is nothing wrong with it. As already mentioned, the latest revision EA888 motors are no longer “horror-horror”, you just need to monitor oil consumption and evaluate the chain tension before buying. Box DQ500 subject to changing the oil in it (and at the same time in other transmission units) will also not deliver big problems. So if you like Q3 and look for the “slightly used” option, you can be calm: the car will not ruin.
