Where is the automatic transmission dipstick located on the Mazda cx 5. How to change the oil in the automatic transmission on the Mazda cx5 with your own hands? Incomplete with automatic transmission oil filter change

Many automakers claim that working fluid in automatic transmissions of cars designed for the entire service life vehicle. Often this statement implies that after a certain mileage (usually 200-300 thousand km), the entire automatic transmission will need to be replaced.

In real operating conditions on Russian roads, such a long mileage without changing the oil in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission is practically unattainable. As practice has shown, problems begin long before the mark of 200 thousand km.

In order to avoid problems with the box, which result in costly repairs, many Mazda CX-5 car owners replace or partially update the fluid in the gearbox. This operation allows you to significantly extend the life of the automatic transmission.

Features of the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission

The automatic transmission on the car in question is designed according to the classic scheme for Japanese transmissions. A large collapsible housing contains a torque converter, a set of planetary gears and clutch packs, as well as a control valve body.

The box has a removable tray. Despite the manufacturer's assurances that the oil in the automatic transmission is filled for the entire period of operation, a drain plug is provided in the sump.

Automatic CX-5

Some other manufacturers' boxes that are filled with lifetime grease are either missing the plug or pan. In this case, it is possible to change the oil only by connecting to the break of the cooling system or after disassembly.

An interesting feature of the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission is the filter design. Unlike most other car filters, where a metal mesh is used as a filter element, a fibrous material is used here.

This prevents flushing when changing the oil. So you have to install a new one. O-rings are included with the filter, so you do not need to buy them separately.

The Mazda automatic transmission is quite reliable, subject to the operating conditions, it is able to work out the pledged resource without problems. However, in real conditions, you should not rely on the reliability of Japanese cars.

The Russian quality of roads, as well as the frequent excess of permissible loads on the transmission, significantly reduce the resource. Therefore, in Russia, the owners of these cars often violate the manufacturer's instructions and do it themselves.

Selection of materials and preparation for replacement

The automatic transmission of the Mazda CX-5 is filled with Mazda oil ATF FZ 1. This original oil, and its cost is above average among gear lubricants. Therefore, many motorists use analogues from third-party manufacturers when replacing.

gear lubricant

There are several analogues. All of them are selected based on the availability of tolerances. The most affordable substitute on our market is Ravenol ATF FZ1 gear lubricant. The amount of oil needed depends on what level of replacement will be made.

For the car in question, there are 3 possible options:

  • partial renewal without dismantling the pallet;
  • partial replacement with removal of the pallet and replacement of the filter;
  • complete replacement.

With partial refreshment lubricant without dismantling the sump, approximately 3.4-3.6 liters of lubricant will be required. If it is planned to replace the filter as well, then here the amount of lubricant required increases to 3.7-3.9 liters.

How to change the oil in your own hands Mazda CX-5 video

Complete replacement on the car in question will require about 20 liters of oil. Of course, this is not the actual amount of grease poured into the Mazda CX-5 box.

This amount of fluid is needed to perform full cycle pumping the system using a special stand for changing oil in automatic transmissions. The specifics of the operation of the machine on this car does not allow a complete manual replacement without the risk of damage.

The second important question: how long to replace? There are no manufacturer's recommendations here, and the opinions of ordinary motorists and specialists differ. The average mileage between the next automatic transmission maintenance is indicated at the level of 60 thousand kilometers. It's for partial replacement.

There are also several opinions about what run it is made on. It is strongly recommended that no later than after 150 thousand, completely replace the lubricant.

By this time, the filter is critically clogged, which increases the resistance to the passage of liquid through it. This leads to malfunctions in the automatic transmission.

To perform a partial update or complete replacement with the dismantling of the pallet, you will need the following tools and materials:

  • head for 10 and hexagon for 8;
  • screwdriver;
  • crowbar or powerful flat screwdriver;
  • keys for dismantling the protection (methods of fastening the protection for different cars may vary);
  • sealant;
  • clean, lint-free rags;
  • empty container, preferably with a measuring scale to assess the amount of drained mining;
  • funnel or oil syringe with hose;
  • carburetor cleaner or other liquid for cleaning oily surfaces.

It is advisable to do all work with an assistant. But you can manage on your own.

Partial replacement step by step

Partial replacement without dismantling the pallet is quite simple. After placing the car on a flyover or inspection hole, the following algorithm of actions is performed:

If it is planned to replace the filter in parallel, after draining the oil, the pan is dismantled. To do this, 16 turnkey bolts by 10 are unscrewed. There is a magnet in the pan, designed to trap metal wear products.

According to the quantitative and qualitative composition of metal particles, it is possible to assess the degree of wear of the automatic transmission. After dismantling, the pallet is thoroughly cleaned of oil residues and fine metal particles.

Installing a new filter

The filter is mounted on two 10 bolts. After removing it, another 300-400 grams of oil will merge.

The sump connects to the crankcase without a gasket. The function of the seal is performed by a layer of sealant. When installing the pallet, it is important to carefully apply the sealant to the mating surfaces.

Cleaning the magnet on the pallet

Insufficient quantity can cause smudges. Excess can be squeezed out into the pan. Subsequently, they will fall into the filter, where they will remain forever. In this case, the throughput of the filter element will decrease.

Complete replacement with stand

On a Mazda CX-5 car, a complete replacement involves contacting a car service, which has an automatic transmission oil change unit. A complete replacement on your own without understanding how the working fluid circulates in the system, or without specialized equipment, can damage the box.

With a complete replacement, it is installed new filter. For the operation, you will need from 16 to 20 liters of new transmission oil. As practice shows, the brightened liquid comes out after pumping 10-12 liters through the system.

But to completely clean the system from old grease you will need to use about 20 liters. You will have to completely update the fluid after interfering with the mechanical component of the automatic transmission or in case of flushing the valve body.

Any repair made with the dismantling of the box and its disassembly involves the replacement of gear oil.

Most owners turn to service centers when needed. oil change for Mazda CX 5. Such actions, if desired, can be performed independently using the step-by-step instructions, which we have presented in this article. It will be useful for owners this car and for the people providing these services. To do this, you need to get a pair of keys, a flyover and special consumables.

Oil change in automatic transmission Mazda CX 5

Automatic transmission for smooth operation requires periodic oil change. It can be of several types:

  1. Partial. 3-4 liters are drained from the pallet and the same amount is poured through the dipstick. The automatic transmission is heated and the level is set.
  2. Partial with filter change. Such an oil change in the Mazda CX 5 automatic transmission also involves the installation of a new cleaning element.
  3. Complete with filter replacement. In this case, changing the oil in the Mazda CX 5 machine also involves running the liquid.

In general, the workflow includes a number of actions. This is:

For best performance, run Mazda CX 5 for 10 minutes.

Manual Transmission, as in the first case, involves the use of a special liquid. The process is almost identical to the previous one. Oil change in manual transmission Mazda CX 5 initially involves checking its level. This is done with a probe. The level should be at the edge of the hole for the filler plug. In the event that it is not enough, the required amount is added. This is done through the drain plug.

Oil change in a Mazda CX 5 box performed in the same way in both cases. It is important to remember that pouring involves the use of a composition that has a viscosity of 0W-20. That is why it is recommended to use the original options. This is 0W-20 (SN) or 5W-30 (SM).

Changing the Mazda CX 5 oil with your own hands or at a service center should be done every 15,000 km. For best result- after 7,500 km. The oil change in the Mazda CX 5 engine is performed when the unit is cold and the car is on level ground. After it, the car should work a little.

Changing the oil in the Mazda CX 5 gearbox

Changing the oil in the gearbox also involves a number of actions:

  • the filler plug of the device and the drain plug are unscrewed so that the liquid is glass;
  • two fasteners are eliminated (allows you to speed up the process);
  • the drain plug is twisted;
  • filled with fresh oil.

Oil change in razdatka Mazda CX 5

Oil change in dispenser carried out in a similar way to a gearbox. But in this case, it is recommended to use a head with an extension to make it more convenient to get to the neck.

The main task of the automatic transmission is to receive, convert and redirect torque to the driveshaft. Most modern cars are equipped with an automated transmission, where gear shifting occurs due to the operation of electronics and without the participation of the driver. On the Mazda CX-5, the automatic transmission is available in Active and Supreme versions, while Drive is available with both automatic transmission and mechanics. Today we will talk about the principles of operation, highlight the advantages and disadvantages of an automated transmission, give tips on operation and maintenance recommendations.

How automatic transmission works

Often the owners of a Japanese crossover ask themselves: “What machine is on the Mazda CX-5?” The type of gearbox design is based on the concept of a classic automatic transmission, improved in terms of environmental and dynamic characteristics. The main structural elements include:

  • torque converter

The main task of this part is the transmission of torque from the motor to the box. It performs the function of adhesion. It has a huge load, because during operation, the assembly rotates at high speed, smoothing out the vibrations of the power plant. Working pressure is created after complete filling with transmission fluid, which is supplied by a special oil pump.

  • planetary gear

Planetary gears perform the same role as shaft gears in mechanics - they provide a gear ratio. Torque through the planetary gears goes to the wheels.

  • Brake band, front and rear clutch

These components are responsible for shifting gears.

  • Control device

Consists of oil sump, pump and valve box.

Varieties of automatic transmission

The growth in demand for automatic transmissions is pushing manufacturers to develop new types of automatic transmissions. To date, there are already 3 types:

  • Classical (hydraulic)

Switching takes place taking into account the speed of the vehicle. If we compare such a gearbox with mechanics, then it requires more fuel and time to accelerate. The main advantage is comfort when moving. The hydraulic transmission was the first to replace the manual transmission, could not take root in Europe for a long time and was previously installed only on premium sedans. After a while, the mechanics began to recede into the past, and the machine “learned to adapt” to certain driving styles. So there were different driving modes.

  • Robotic (MTA)

In terms of economy, it is on par with the manual transmission. The effective operation of the transmission is noted only at moderate driving rates, because with an increase in the speed of the power plant, the gear shift is felt more strongly. The clutch function is performed by electric motors. The main disadvantage is the high cost.

  • Variator (CVT)

This option is much more powerful than mechanics and other types of automatic transmissions. transmission associated with power plant through a belt that can change gear ratio. Reverse carried out under the action of an additional mechanism. The disadvantages include the limited service life of the belts (about 100 thousand km) and the need for timely oil changes. A potential buyer will not have to make a choice: Mazda CX-5 automatic or CVT. The company developed concept cars with CVT, but they did not reach mass production.

Pros and cons of automatic transmission

The name of the transmission on the CX-5 is Skyactiv-Drive. This mechanism is also installed on other modern Mazda models. There are 2 options for the factory automatic transmission - for gasoline and diesel engine. Consider their main advantages:

Easy to start from a place

For inexperienced drivers, this is very important, because all processes are controlled by electronics. The multi-plate clutch instantly transfers torque from the engine to the gearbox components, which eliminates unexpected jerks of the car at the start.

The stroke of the automatic transmission handle on the Mazda CX-5 is reduced, and shifts are faster and softer. When the gear is upshifted, the structural parts are lowered, so that the force of gravity conducts the shift more intensively, and fuel is consumed economically.

Rides smoothly

When the load is increased or decreased, the amount of torque also changes and the car moves more smoothly.

Requires no additional steps

Again, a plus for beginners who have not yet perfected their skills and are distracted by switching the driving mode. The checkpoint does not require increased attention, so the level of safety and concentration of the driver on the road increases.

Easier driving on difficult road sections

The machine independently copes with areas that are difficult to move. Whether it is sand, snow or other problems on the road, the auto transmission will select the optimal mode of movement.

Economy

Checkpoint Mazda CX-5 automatic, according to the owners is very economical. By reducing the weight of the structure, the developers managed to achieve an increase in efficiency by 7%.

It would be fair to mention the design flaws:

Low wear resistance

Compared to manual transmission, the automatic transmission is not so durable. The resource of his work averages 100 thousand kilometers. After this distance has been covered, the clutch may need to be replaced.

High price automatic Mazda CX-5

A manual gearbox will cost much less. Maintenance of the machine will also require additional cash costs.

special care

The automatic transmission needs careful handling, because parts become unusable from sharp jerks, starts and slips.

Reviews of car owners, automatic transmission price

Reviews about the Mazda CX-5 (automatic transmission) are mostly positive. Owners note driving comfort, good handling and dynamics. The car performs well in dense city traffic, and fuel consumption is significantly lower compared to its closest competitors. Even slow movement in a traffic jam will not cause inconvenience, since the crossover always starts smoothly from a standstill.

As for the price of automatic transmission Mazda CX-5, it is within 50,000 rubles. A used part is cheaper, but there is no guarantee for it. You need to buy components only in trusted stores, and it is best to choose the original from the manufacturer. You can also purchase parts for the box separately. For example, the cost of an automatic transmission handle is 2,000 rubles, and the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission selector is from 7,000 rubles.

The automatic transmission makes it easy to drive without taking your eyes off the road. In order for all structural components to work properly, you need to follow the recommendations from the manufacturer and listen to the advice of experienced car owners:

  1. Try to handle the gearbox delicately, avoiding sudden movements. Do not overload and overheat the mechanism. This is fraught with deformation of parts and their failure.
  2. After starting the engine, it is better to wait a few minutes for full inclusion to the operation of the gearbox.
  3. Wheel slip adversely affects the performance of the machine.
  4. When changing the direction of travel, switch the lever after the vehicle has come to a complete stop.
  5. Keep clean transmission fluid. A change in color and smell, the appearance of burning or darkening indicates a malfunction. In this case, you need to contact a specialist and conduct a diagnosis.
  6. Check the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission oil level, fill in new if necessary.

How to check the oil level and change it

Use the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission dipstick to check the oil level. First, start the car and warm up the gearbox. Then move it to the “R” position. Remove the dipstick, wipe it dry, insert it back into the structure and remove it again. Notches on the measuring device will show the oil level for a cold and hot engine.

Do not forget that the oil change in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission should be carried out every 3-4 years. At the service station they pour special liquid Dexlia Original Oil ATF M-V (5W-30 is used as an alternative). You can change the oil yourself. To do this, you will need Wynn's flushing fluid, a Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission filter (it cleans the oil while the car is moving), sealant and Wynn's Tran Serve (transmission maintenance device). Next, follow the instructions for changing the oil in the Mazda CX-5 box:

  • raise the car, remove the crankcase protection;
  • we connect the device;
  • turn on the unit (circulation should begin);
  • pour flushing fluid into the air filter;
  • start the engine (working time - about 15 minutes);
  • add new oil;
  • we replace the old filter, having previously cleaned the pan from dirt and dust;
  • we carry out the installation of a clean pallet using a sealant.

After changing the oil in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission, do not forget to set the level of the filled liquid. Now you can confidently drive.

If you don’t know exactly what kind of oil you need to fill in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission, look at the technical documentation for the car. In it, the manufacturer informs about the recommended brands.

Repair

Automatic transmission repair on the Mazda CX-5 may be required if:

  • the car slips for no apparent reason;
  • the checkpoint accident indicator is on;
  • vibration and jerks appeared at the start;
  • transmissions refused to work;
  • the vehicle makes a lot of noise and slows down.

If such problems arise with the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission, you should contact the service station.

Most often, crossover owners are faced with a breakdown of solenoid valves (there are 7 of them in the block). If one of them fails, you will have to change the entire component (this is due to the peculiarities of electronic control). Also, the cause of the problem can be an oil pump, which wears out pretty quickly.

Torque converter failure is considered very serious. In this case, only specialists can help. First spend detailed diagnostics cleaning and replacement of worn parts. Then the body is welded, checked for tightness and balanced.

Before contacting a service station, check the oil level in the Mazda CX-5 automatic box. Its deficiency or excess can also lead to malfunction.

Outcome

In today's market, 80% of cars are equipped with automatic transmission gear shifting. Such popularity is associated with a high level of comfort and ease of use, which is especially important for novice drivers. The Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission was developed taking into account the Skyactiv concept, therefore it requires special attention and care. If you follow all the recommendations of the manufacturer, the design will last a long time and without complaints.

Changing the oil in the Mazda CX-5 gearbox is most often associated with the repair of the automatic transmission itself, or it is replaced with a new one in the course of repairing oil leaks, since it must be drained for work. The oil in the automatic transmission is filled in by the manufacturer once for the entire life of the car. It is recommended to entrust the oil change in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission to professionals, but in some cases this operation can be done on your own.

Functions of ATF oil in the automatic transmission of the Mazda CX-5:

  • effective lubrication of rubbing surfaces and mechanisms;
  • reduction of mechanical load on the nodes;
  • heat dissipation;
  • removal of microparticles resulting from corrosion or wear of parts.
The color of the ATF oil for the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission allows not only to distinguish oils by type, but also helps to find out in the event of a leak from which system the fluid escaped. For example, the oil in automatic transmission and power steering has a red tint, antifreeze is green, and in the engine it is yellowish.
Reasons for oil leakage from automatic transmission to Mazda CX-5:
  • wear of automatic transmission seals;
  • wear of the shaft surfaces, the occurrence of a gap between the shaft and the sealing element;
  • wear of the automatic transmission sealing element and the speedometer drive shaft;
  • play of the input shaft of the automatic transmission;
  • damage to the sealing layer in the joints between parts of the automatic transmission: sump, automatic transmission housing, crankcase, clutch housing;
  • loosening of the bolts that provide the connection of the above parts of the automatic transmission;
Low oil level in Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission is the main cause of clutch failure. Due to the low fluid pressure, the friction clutches are poorly pressed against the steel discs and do not have enough contact with each other. As a result, the friction linings in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission become very hot, charred and destroyed, significantly polluting the oil.

Due to a lack of oil or low-quality oil in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission:

  • plungers and channels of the valve body are clogged with mechanical particles, which leads to a shortage of oil in the packages and provokes wear of the bushing, rubbing parts of the pump, etc.;
  • the steel disks of the gearbox overheat and wear out quickly;
  • rubber-coated pistons, thrust discs, clutch drum, etc. overheat and burn;
  • the valve body wears out and becomes unusable.
Contaminated automatic transmission oil cannot fully remove heat and provide high-quality lubrication of parts, which leads to various malfunctions of the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission. Heavily contaminated oil is an abrasive suspension that, under high pressure, creates a sandblasting effect. Intense impact on the valve body leads to thinning of its walls at the locations of the control valves, as a result of which numerous leaks can occur.
You can check the oil level in the automatic transmission of the Mazda CX-5 using a dipstick. The dipstick has two pairs of marks - the upper pair of Max and Min allows you to determine the level in hot oil, the lower pair - in cold. Using the dipstick, it is easy to check the condition of the oil: you need to drop the oil onto a clean white cloth.

When choosing a Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission oil for replacement, you should be guided by a simple principle: it is best to use oil recommended by Mazda. Meanwhile, instead of mineral oil you can fill in semi-synthetic or synthetic, but in no case should you use oil "class below" from the prescribed one.

Synthetic oil for automatic transmissions of the Mazda CX-5 is called "non-replaceable", it is poured for the entire life of the car. Such oil does not lose its properties under the influence high temperature and is designed for a very long period of use of the Mazda CX-5. But we must not forget about the appearance of a mechanical suspension as a result of friction clutch wear with a very significant mileage. If the automatic transmission has been operated for some time in conditions of lack of oil, it is necessary to check the degree of its contamination and, if necessary, replace it.

Ways to change the oil in an automatic transmission Mazda CX-5:

  • Partial oil change in a Mazda CX-5 box;
  • Complete oil change in the Mazda CX-5 box;
A partial oil change in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission can be done independently. To do this, just unscrew the drain on the pallet, driving the car onto the overpass, and collect the oil in a container. Usually up to 25-40% of the volume flows out, the remaining 60-75% remain in the torque converter, that is, in fact, this is an update, not a replacement. To update the oil in the automatic transmission of the Mazda CX-5 in this way to the maximum, 2-3 replacements will be required.

A complete oil change for the automatic transmission of the Mazda CX-5 is carried out using an automatic transmission oil change unit, auto repair specialists. In this case, more ATF oil will be required than the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission can accommodate. Flushing takes one and a half or double the volume of fresh ATF. The cost will be more expensive than a partial replacement, and not every car service provides such a service.
Partial ATF oil change in the Mazda CX-5 automatic transmission according to a simplified scheme:

  1. We unscrew the drain plug, drain the old ATF oil;
  2. We unscrew the automatic transmission pan, which, in addition to the bolts holding it, is treated along the contour with a sealant.
  3. We get access to the automatic transmission filter, it is advisable to change it at each oil change, or rinse it.
  4. At the bottom of the pallet there are magnets that are necessary to collect metal dust and chips.
  5. We clean the magnets and wash the pallet, wipe it dry.
  6. Install the automatic transmission filter in place.
  7. We install the automatic transmission pan in place, replacing the gasket of the automatic transmission pan if necessary.
  8. We twist the drain plug, replacing the drain plug gasket for the automatic transmission.
We fill the oil through the technological filler hole (where the automatic transmission dipstick is located), using the dipstick we control the oil level in the automatic transmission to a cold one. After changing the oil in the automatic transmission, it is important to check its level after driving 10-20 km, already with the automatic transmission warmed up. Top up to level if necessary. The regularity of changing the oil depends not only on the mileage, but also on the nature of the ride on the Mazda CX-5. You should focus not on the recommended mileage, but on the degree of contamination of the oil, systematically checking it.

On the planned maintenance we have Mazda car CX-5, on which it is necessary to change the oil in the automatic transmission. We will show you a visual photo and video instruction on how to do it yourself.

For work, we need a 4-liter oil canister, with Mazda approval, you can use the original, but we will fill in an analogue that has shown itself well. We will make the replacement with the removal of the pallet, it is installed on the sealant, so you need to purchase it in advance. You will also need to purchase an automatic transmission filter.

We unscrew the bolts of the crankcase protection (3 bolts in front and 2 in the back), move it slightly forward and lower it. We removed the protection of the engine compartment, but it's hard for us to get to the oil filter dipstick. We need to unscrew the iron plate on which the crankcase is attached:

We got access to the probe, now with a head of 10 we unscrew the screw securing the probe to the crankcase. We do this because it is extremely problematic to get to this probe from above, we block the access to the air duct.

Now we need to check the oil level and make sure that it is normal, as we will fill in based on the volume of the drained old oil. We take out and wipe the probe and then reinsert it into the box, start the engine and warm it up to operating temperature, move the selector to all positions and return to the parking lot. We take out the dipstick again, wipe it and insert it into the automatic transmission.

We take out and check the level, it should be normal. Using an 8 hexagon, unscrew the drain plug on the gearbox pan:

We drain the old oil into the prepared container, then it is necessary to take a measurement in order to understand how much then it will be necessary to fill in. After draining, wrap the cork back. We proceed to remove the pallet, we need to unscrew 16 head bolts by 10:

We unscrewed all the bolts, but the pallet is still held by the sealant, so we take the mounting blade and pry it from several sides:

We prepare a wide container in advance, where the oil from the pan will pour. Unscrew the automatic transmission filter:

Old oil will also pour out of it when removed. There is a magnet in the pan, which we attract small metal shavings, be sure to remove it and thoroughly clean it. We clean the pan and remove the remnants of the old sealant.

Pre-lubricate the rubber seals on the filter with ATF, install it in place. We apply a thin layer of sealant to the pallet, in such a way that, upon contact, it cannot get into the inside of the box. Gently apply it, bait all the bolts, then evenly tighten them all.

Now we need to add oil to our machine, since we block the air filter housing from accessing the dipstick, so we remove it. Loosen the two screws securing the air intake:

Disconnect the connector from the mass air flow sensor. We loosen the clamp from the air intake. We remove the pipe from the air filter housing and take it to the side. Raise the filter housing, unfasten the clamp on the side of the harness:

Remove the body along with air filter. We insert a hose into the probe hole right size and at its other end a funnel:

We fill in new oil, the same volume that we drained, we got almost 4 liters. We assemble everything in the reverse order, warm up the engine and check the level on the dipstick.
