Full review of the Kia Magentis of two generations. Suspension, steering and brakes

Large, spacious, playful car. Very cheap consumables and spare parts.

I wanted a big comfortable car with an automatic transmission. After a long study, the choice fell on Kia Magentis. As they say, a lot of car for little money. I paid $24,000 for a new Magentis III in 2005. The equipment is top-end (leather, face, everything) 2.5V6 automatic transmission. Before that I drove rear-wheel drive TAZs and Skoda Felicia. There was always enough engine power. But basically the madge is conducive to a quiet ride, although it can get hot. The soft suspension causes roll in sharp turns and slight sway on the highway. But this is not a racing car. It holds the road comfortably both at 100 km/h and at 160, without wandering. Over two years of ownership and 40 thousand mileage, in addition to routine maintenance, two ball fog lights and a broken fog light were replaced. When tested, the leather interior turned out to be a substitute, but good quality. The hatch is very comfortable, but it will be in the way for a tall driver - it makes the ceiling slightly lower. IN winter time I've never had any problems with the plant. At minus 25 it started right away. The average consumption in the city is 14 liters. I didn't like the climate control. More precisely, his algorithm and more often (especially in winter) used manual control.

In general, I'm happy with the car. I wanted to change to more new car and saved some money, I want a Chevrolet Epica.

Strengths:

  • Large, spacious, playful car
  • Very cheap consumables and spare parts

Weaknesses:

  • Fuel consumption 12-14 liters

Review of Kia Magentis 2.0 (Kia Magentis) 2004

So, I have a KIA Magentis 2004, 2.0 injector. They brought it to me from a branded car dealership in Latvia, then it was not yet 3 years old. The car came to Latvia from Denmark (fortunately there is complete documentation - a service book, information about the previous owner). The mileage at that time was 70 thousand km. About the equipment: full electric package, climate control, velor, 5-speed manual transmission, MP-3, alarm, lensed headlights, headlight range control, electric antenna, tow bar. European assembly.

During 3 years of operation on Belarusian roads there were no problems with the car; the mileage in Belarus was only about 30 thousand km. Consumption is 7-7.5 liters on the highway, 10-11 liters in the city (depending on driving style). Although the car is business class, it is playful - fortunately there are 147 horses under the hood! Immediately after the purchase, I changed all the consumables: filters, timing belts, external belts. And that’s it, now I just fill up with gasoline and change the oil periodically. In general, I'm pleased.

When they offered me this car, I was skeptical about it. I thought the Korean was somehow not very reliable. But I took it and didn’t regret it - after all, the age of the car plays a big role, and for the same money you can’t buy a German or even a Japanese of a similar class. It's a serious car, business class after all. You drive as if on an airliner, the suspension absorbs all the unevenness of our roads.

Strengths:

  • Reliable
  • Comfortable
  • Comfortable

Weaknesses:

  • It would be possible to spend less

Review of Kia Magentis 2.5 V6 (Kia Magentis) 2006

The car is excellent. There were no complaints during the entire period of operation.

As a drawback, it should be noted that there is no on-board computer, but it is quite possible to do without it. Fuel consumption (92 petrol) is quite low with the climate control always on - about 9 liters. or a little less per 100 km on the highway, in the city - about 11 liters. I traveled from Moscow to St. Petersburg on one tank.

Production of the Kia Magentis sedan, also known in some countries as, began in South Korea in 2000, and a year later the assembly of cars for Russian market Kaliningrad Avtotor has started. The car was designed on the model platform and equipped gasoline engines 1.9 (136 hp), 2.4 (175 hp), as well as V-shaped “sixes” with a volume of 2.5 and 2.7 liters. As a result of the restyling carried out in 2002, the Kia Magentis received a slightly modified appearance and was produced in this form until 2006.

2nd generation, 2005–2010

The second generation Magentis debuted in 2005. The version for the US market was still called , but in the local Korean market the car was known as . In Russia, “Mazhentis” were sold, both Korean and Kaliningrad assembled. In addition to the gasoline engines 2.0 (144 hp), 2.4 (175 hp) and 2.7 V6 (194 hp), a two-liter turbodiesel with a capacity of 140 hp was installed on the sedan. With. The top version of the V6 was equipped only with an automatic transmission, for other modifications automatic transmission transmissions were offered for an additional fee. In 2008 appearance The car was changed in accordance with the new corporate style of the brand.

Kia Magentis was the debut model developed jointly by 2 Korean automakers: Hyundai and Kia. The car was first presented at the Paris Motor Show back in 2001, where it earned many accolades. Why is it so attractive to millions of drivers from all over the world? Read more about this.

Magentis 1st generation

The car was built on the same platform as the 4th generation. Attractive design, powerful engine and a wide range of options - all this has made the Kia Magentis extremely popular. The car is available in 2 versions: with a two-liter 136-horsepower engine and a V-shaped “six” developing 160 hp. with a volume of 2.5 liters. Both engines are mated to a 5-speed manual or 4-speed Tiptronic automatic transmission. As for the optional set, already in the basic version the car is equipped with air conditioning, electric windows, an airbag for the driver, audio preparation, an air quality control system and much more.

In 2003, a restyled version of the Kia Magentis appeared on the market, where the designers changed the exterior, making it more aggressive. So, for example, the shape of the bumper, hood, fog lights and headlights was transformed, now divided into 2 sectors. At the same time, the portfolio of options has also diversified somewhat, adding another airbag, traction control and other pleasant little things. The designers also managed to expand the space for rear passengers so that 3 adults could feel quite comfortable.

Magentis 2nd generation

The second generation of Kia Magentis was presented in 2005 at the International Automobile Exhibition in Frankfurt. In Russia, car sales started in 2007. New sedan significantly increased in size, becoming longer and wider (4740 mm x 1800 mm). Of course, this innovation made it possible to increase the interior space, making the rear sofa much more spacious, and the trunk volume increased by 15 liters. Similar to 1st generation Kia car Magentis II was created on an identical platform to the new Hyndai Sonata.

Magentis II: design and interior

The design of the updated version turned out to be quite modern, moderately strict and even somewhat sporty. The headlights radically influenced the appearance of the car from the front, and the new radiator grille finally changed the exterior of our heroine for the better. The elongated body, decorated with stylish chrome inserts, also pleased the eye. In general, everything turned out concisely, but tastefully.

The interior is made in High-tech style, maximally in line with all fashion trends. The car's finishing looks impressive, using high-quality and expensive materials. A driver of any size can fit comfortably in the cabin, as both the steering wheel and seats have a fairly wide adjustment area. The controls are also located very conveniently, and therefore you don’t have to worry about the ergonomics of the car - it’s excellent. The portfolio of options surprises with its diversity: climate and cruise control, on-board computer, cool full safety kit, front and rear power windows, and much more. In general, you are guaranteed a comfortable trip.

"Kia Magentis": technical characteristics

Regarding power characteristics car, then thanks to the use of new materials, they have become more modernized. This fact made it possible to reduce engine noise and vibration, as well as reduce emissions. The car itself is offered in five versions: 4 petrol and 1 diesel.

The younger 2-liter is ready to squeeze out 136 “horses”, and overcomes the threshold of 100 km/h in 10 seconds. Maximum speed is 208 km/h, which is quite a decent result for a D-class car. It is worth noting that the 2nd generation Kia Magentis does not have such a huge “appetite”, given its power. So, on the highway the consumption is 6.5-7 liters per 100 km, and in the city the figure rises to 12-13 liters for the same period.

The buyer can choose a car with a 4-speed automatic transmission or a 5-speed automatic transmission manual transmission. Of course, the first one will cost you a little more. The second engine has the same volume, but boasts more power, reaching 145 hp. With. The remaining characteristics are identical. The older V-shaped “six” develops 168 hp. With. at 2.5 liters. Of course, the increased engine power could not but affect fuel consumption. The figures increased to 7.5-8 liters on the highway and 14-15 liters in the city. As in previous versions, there is a choice between “automatic” and “manual”. The latest gasoline version has a 2.7-liter engine that produces 189 hp. With. Finally, the line is completed by a 2-liter 140-horsepower engine, which is coupled with a 6-speed manual or 4-speed automatic transmission.

Handling Magentis II

Engineers have significantly improved the car's handling, improving its maneuverability and stability on both good and bad roads, which is especially important for our country. The Magentis' suspension is completely independent. It “swallows” bumps quite tolerably, and therefore there should be no discomfort. The car responds quite sharply to steering movements. When cornering it behaves well and without critical rolls. Already in the basic version it is assumed ABS systems and EBD, which is certainly a huge advantage of the car.

Restyled version of Magentis II

In 2009, a restyled version of the Kia Magentis was released, the photo of which you can see above. The most significant changes occurred in the appearance of the car, which was significantly transformed. Slanted headlights, a large radiator grille and a modified bumper made the car more “aggressive”. The interior remains essentially the same. As for the engine line, it was limited to 3 options: 2 gasoline and 1 diesel.

Finally, let’s say that in 2011 a new generation of Kia Magentis was released, reviews of which are only positive. This is not surprising, since the design was designed by the world famous Peter Schreyer. The new Magentis is now known in Russia as Kia Optima. The car was first presented in 2010 at the New York Auto Show, and sales began in 2011.

Dear time of day, dear readers.

The review will be about the KIA Magentis car, 2005. two year old, at that time, in the maximum configuration for those times and with a top-end V 6 2.5 l 169 hp engine, with a mileage at the time of purchase of just over 50 t.km.

It was not purchased by chance, having in 2007 the amount of 17,000 dollars on hand, one could consider buying a lot of new C-class cars, but I always wanted to drive something with good equipment, a larger size and a relatively powerful engine, fortunately there was an opportunity .

After some hesitation, I settled on one that has proven itself quite well (adjusted for personal experience) KIA brand, wanted Magentis, automatic, in fully equipped. So, on the skin they (Magentis) for the most part came with a gray interior, I leisurely looked for a beige one. The interior of this color, subjectively, looked much nicer than gray. After a leisurely search for about a month, the desired copy was found.

The purchase history was as follows. A very wealthy man sold the car for 16,500 euros, and he handed it over to the dealer on commission. Arriving with him at the dealer, I went to look at the car, and the owner remained in the car. By the way, the dealer had a car with a price tag of 17,500. After crawling the car up and down, taking it for a ride (as a passenger with the seller), I returned to the owner, and we shook hands. The next day he took it from the salon and, having parted with 16,500 dollars, I became the owner of this pepilats.

So, for this relatively modest sum, I became the owner of a car, the package of which included: ABS, anti-books, 4 SRS, electric sunroof, beige leather interior, power-adjustable driver's seat, separate climate control, automatic transmission and many other little things. What I like about buying a used car with minimal mileage is that if you take proper care of the car, you don’t need to invest money. Those. The car also came with 2 sets of castings (even a spare tire for casting) with an expensive imported one winter tires, alarm system with auto start, two sets of interior carpets, high-quality tinting.

After I said goodbye to the now former owner, I got into my new car and... felt almost childish delight. It doesn't ride, it floats. External sounds don’t bother me at all; after manual transmission I didn’t even have to get used to the automatic transmission - just like I’ve been driving it all my life. Cozy leather interior... Very decent standard Infiniti music with an amplifier (although MP3 does not play). Of course, I quickly got used to it, but the sensations were unforgettable.

What I liked:

It rides very smoothly, the American-style suspension absorbs all the bumps, but you have to pay with rolls in corners. However, roll is not critical, I’m not a racing driver, and for myself I consider this suspension setting to be optimal.

The motor is a beast. There are not so many horses, by modern standards (169), but the torque did its job and 8.8 seconds to 100 normally pressed into the back of the seat. I repeat that I am not a fan of high speeds. I only once, out of curiosity, accelerated it to 180 km/h on a completely empty 4-lane highway, it more than willingly continued to accelerate further, but that was enough for me. At this speed, it maintained good directional stability and noise insulation. We must pay tribute to the automatic transmission, 4-speed. When I bought it, I thought that a 4-mortar was archaic, but then I changed my mind. At a speed of 140 km/h, the engine speed is about 3500. The engine does not strain at all due to the gearbox. The cruising speed on the 2.5 liter was the same as now on the 1.6 engine “for 300 rubles”, i.e. exceeding the permissible limit by no more than 20 km/h. In general, I consider myself a follower of the “three Ds” (GDD - Give Way to the Fool), and if some wild basin settled in the stern and “farmed”, I gave way to him without a twinge of conscience.

I liked the totality of the equipment, there was a lot of everything, even unnecessary things - for example, electric. seat adjustment - used it 2 times: 1st time when I bought it, 2nd time after the service.

Reliable. For about 12,000 thousand that I drove, I didn’t do anything to it except changing the oil and routine adjustments (wheel alignment, light adjustment, etc.).

Low beam. It's the best I've ever ridden.

Noise insulation. It is significantly higher than average, which was noted even by skeptic friends (meaning Korean auto industry in general), for example in the 2004 Accord. it is much worse (the owner of the chord agrees with this =)).

Well, little things. For example, the headlight washer is located on the dashboard with a separate button, you wash the headlights when you want, and not according to an incomprehensible algorithm with excessive washer consumption.

What I didn't like:

Algorithm for climate control operation. Situation: summer, 30 in the shade, you get into the car and set it to 22 degrees. What does this embodiment of Korean engineering genius do? It includes recycling, maximum speed fan and the minimum temperature begins to really freeze the driver, in the literal sense of the word.

In general, I did not like him and often interfered with his work. A plus for it, perhaps, can be called a control system for the air supplied to the cabin, i.e. if the “smart” climate control “understood” that gas pollution was higher than normal, it automatically turned on recirculation, although often with a delay.

Leather. I won't buy myself any more. Well, maybe only if it’s combined or perforated with ventilation (like the Tean NEW - I drive it periodically - great). In winter it’s cold to get into a car (despite the heating and auto-start, I often noted), in the summer it’s generally amazing, despite the beastly climate, all places in contact with this fashionable coating sweat.

Black. Clean, it is certainly a sight for sore eyes. But you need to monitor him more closely than any other. So I just washed the car, carefully polished it (I like to clean up the mess myself), drove it to the garage (200m), and the car was already covered in dust, which was very noticeable... In such cases I had to restrain obscene language, rushing out.

Automatic antenna. A very capricious device. You have to constantly wipe and clean, otherwise not all the knees come out/retracted. A very controversial engineering decision.

But, we must pay tribute, it catches well.

Fuel consumption. In the city 15 l/100 km, outside the city it’s easier - it fits into 8-8.5 liters.

Well, little things. Absence trip computer(there was only an outside temperature sensor), a dubious image of the brand (but for me this was even a plus - I didn’t even think about insuring it under CASCO)…

What else can I add... The body was absolutely without any hint of corrosion, I liked the quality of the paintwork, the engine did not consume oil.

I sold the car to the first buyer, it was clear that he was also looking for a specific copy. Left for 17,500 ue, after 8 months of ownership, in excellent condition.

The reason for the sale is to buy an apartment, but that’s a completely different story...

If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them.
