Inexpensive and reliable car; review of Opel Zafira with mileage. Weaknesses and strengths of the Opel Zafira B according to owner reviews Common problems with the Opel Zafira B

I bought Zafira V from a car transporter in Vilnius. 1.9 CDI. 120 hp 2006 Manual transmission. The speedometer showed 135 thousand km. Apparently they screwed up 100 thousand. In two years I drove 40 thousand km. Then I sold it. The car is of average merit.

Now briefly about the car.

Pros:

Strengths:

Weaknesses:

Review of Opel Zafira 1.8 (Opel Zafira) 2006

Zafira car: comfortable, you don’t get tired of sitting high, roomy (small on the outside, but large on the inside (7 seats), easy transformation of the interior into a two-seater car + cargo), fast (140 hp) - 11 sec to 100 km, economical - 8 liters per city automatically, reliable, cheap in parts and repairs, as it is built on the basis of the Astra.

I operated two such cars: “A” (2000) and “B”, purchased new in November 2006. Black metallic (solid color), ENJOY equipment, Easytronic gearbox (automatic or manual control), CD car radio + 6 speakers, climate control, electric power steering, electric mirrors, electric windows, heated seats, sports and winter driving modes, engine protection, floor mats and covers for 3 seats, tinting, heated windshield, original alarm system in the key ( central locking with double locking (100% protection against rotation of the cylinder), hood lock DRAGON - almost impossible to steal.

I drove very little - 90t. km., mainly with the family to the dacha, there was another car for work.

Strengths:

Spacious

Weaknesses:

  • Common breakdowns on all new Opels

Part 5

The car makes me happy. Both by his helpfulness in solving everyday problems and by his problem-free nature. There is nothing special to add to the previous ones.

All expenses - replacements, except fuel (who is counting it!!!), are entered here - in the “expense journal”.

It’s almost time to change the original tires - I’ve already bought replacement tires, I’ll change them by the fall.

Strengths:

  • Stability
  • Reliability
  • Predictability
  • Controllability
  • Economical
  • Capacity
  • Quick and easy interior transformation

Weaknesses:

  • Noise - noise from the engine and arches. I'm still not used to it
  • Stainless fabric interior. Stains appear regularly on even-toned fabric, and dealing with them is tiresome

The car was purchased new from an official dealer in 2007 in the Enjoy configuration.

I still use it to this day. I really like the handling of the car, although there are no electronic means for maintaining direction, it holds the road perfectly. ABS works well. Very comfortable power steering. Parking is easy, and at speed the trajectory always follows the steering wheel exactly.

For 5 years and 70 thousand nothing serious broke down. On a small note, some seals were under warranty at the beginning; I recently replaced the rear license plate light assembly. The battery is still original and works great.

Strengths:

  • Very reliable
  • Convenient large pockets in the doors
  • Huge trunk
  • Comfortable steering wheel for both parking and speed

Weaknesses:

  • Ground clearance is low: in snowy winters the trunk without compartments had to be dug out
  • You need to take the option with a net in the trunk

Review of Opel Zafira 1.8 (Opel Zafira) 2007

So I hope that this review will help many who decide to purchase this car, I will write briefly and clearly, given today's mileage, there is something to tell.

I bought a car at a discount, last year, in a good configuration, with a robot... which was a little confusing at first, but as practice has shown, it has the right to life.

First about the car:

Strengths:

  • Capacity
  • Low cost of operation

Weaknesses:

  • Diseases: ignition module and “gene” (constructive miscalculation - sooner or later this notorious contact will rot for everyone)

Review of Opel Zafira 1.8 (Opel Zafira) 2008 Part 3

By old tradition, after another year of operation, I decided to write a review.

I have already described the main delights about spaciousness and convenience in previous reviews, so I will not repeat myself. I’ll write briefly about the problems that arose over the year, which caused me, let’s say, some disappointment in the quality of German cars and, in particular, Opel.

1. With a mileage of about 23,000 km, engine “triple” appeared. Official dealer I immediately recommended changing the spark plugs, but after an insistent request, the car was completely checked and the ignition distribution unit was replaced (under warranty), after which the problem disappeared. After the warranty expires, this procedure costs about 15 thousand rubles, and on the forums they write that this is “another weak point” of the Opel Astra and Opel Zafira.

Review of Opel Zafira 1.8 (Opel Zafira) 2007

After a little over two years of using the Zafira 1.6 (105 hp), I decided to sell it and buy something more capable... And thus I ended up with 470 thousand on hand...

Not long before this, a good friend of mine handed over his 2007 Zafira with a mileage of 67 thousand to my garage (it was his “second”; in the winter he drove a Honda SRV-3)…

So the search began... everything was so dreary and long, but I will only say that I wanted there to be seven places, four-wheel drive, spacious interior, economical engine and... inexpensive!!! Over time, it became clear to me that such a car had not yet been invented, and I became a little sad. What to take, what to take... other seven-seat “liners” were noticeably more expensive. And then the aforementioned acquaintance offers me his Zafira, and at a fairly attractive price (he bought a Ford Galaxy TDiesel)! Well, I didn’t think too much, I added 30 thousand rubles to the money received from the previous Zafira and... I got a Zafirka again :) 2007 year, manual transmission, 67,200 miles, Enjoy, color as it was - old silver.

Strengths:

  • Comfort for driver and passengers
  • Relatively inexpensive service
  • 7 seats
  • Reliability
  • Easily transformable interior
  • High-quality finishing materials
  • Economical engine

Weaknesses:

  • Weak paintwork
  • Low front bumper

Review of Opel Zafira 1.6 (Opel Zafira) 2006

This car was purchased by chance; I needed a car for a trip to the city of Sochi for a summer vacation.

I fell in love with Zafira at first sight: excellent interior, comfortable high seating position for the driver and passengers. During a trip to the south in this car with an overnight stay in the cabin, I must admit that, with a height of 175 cm, I could not lie down in the cabin, since I did not fit in height due to the threshold between the seats and the inconveniently folding middle seats. As for the 6th and 7th places, I laid them out only once during the entire period of ownership, I drove 50 kilometers there myself, I think it’s convenient for my height.

Strengths:

  • The car has good liquidity secondary market, good strong frame. Sold only due to purchase of another new car

Weaknesses:

  • Brand name

Exactly a year has passed since the purchase of this car. The mileage was low, since a company car was used for long-distance business trips. Zafira was used for commuting to work and for family trips to the country on weekends.

Pros:

1. Comfortable large seven-seater saloon. Four adults and three children traveled comfortably to the dacha all summer and returned back. True, with the third row unfolded, the trunk became quite small. But when the second row is folded, the feeling of a truck appears - you can fold a whole lot of everything (maybe this is true to me after the sedan). In one year, a sofa settee, three bicycles (at one time) and a supply of champagne for the company (about 350 bottles) were transported.

Review of Opel Zafira 1.8 (Opel Zafira) 2008 Part 2

Good afternoon everyone!

Well, here we are at 130,000 km. Since my last review At approximately 98,000 km, the temperature sensor was covered (very bad timing). The sensor costs 510 rubles. Replacement with diagnostics - 1000 rub.

At 111000 ABC came on. I spent a week with this before I got around to it. It turned out that the wire from the ABC sensor on the left side had frayed. For some reason this wire ran close to the CV joint boot. The wire was replaced, extended - no use. Comp. shows that the sensor itself also grunted (there was no need to drive for a week with a glitchy ABC). Unfortunately, the ABC sensor can ONLY be replaced WITH THE HUB ASSEMBLY. And this is a bit expensive, especially considering that everything is fine with the hub so far (I asked around, the amount fluctuates around 7,000 rubles). We're waiting...

Strengths:

  • Not a bad car for the money

Weaknesses:

  • Last time I didn’t mention sound insulation. So, Shumka is at “3-”

Review of Opel Zafira 1.6 (Opel Zafira) 2006 Part 3

So, let's continue...

Since the last review (January 2010), I have traveled another 16,500 km (in total I have traveled 42,500 km). And again, one positive thing (I’m very surprised that after 2 years of owning this car I didn’t get tired of it. This is kind of nonsense)

This time the trips were mainly to work and back + several trips around the Golden Ring and to my village.

Good time forum members!

I decided to write my impressions about Zafira. The car was purchased in January as a vehicle for transporting family and friends to and from the dacha during the summer season, because... Sometimes there were more than four of them, and the old Lancer could no longer stand it. I wanted to take the Galaxy first, but my wife dissuaded me, saying it was too big, and I don’t regret it. Even sometimes (rarely true) I ask myself - why is there such a barn, but if you look around while driving, everything is fine, there is a lot of air, I sit high, I can see far away - so be it. Oh, if only I had an automatic transmission! But for some reason, automatic transmission is only with 2.2 + a bunch of interesting, but, in my opinion, optional options for a little less money, and this is still cool for me personally! A 2.0 automatic transmission, climate and, in general, everything would be enough for me. It would cost money, I think, no more than 800 thousand rubles. Honestly, I would add. By the way, I “ate” 715t.r. without extras At first I thought the money was too high, but after buying a Fyuzhik in May for 660 thousand rubles. (and this WITHOUT special stages) I realized that they took Zafira like a god!

What do you like about Zafira now, and not at the time of purchase, when the main thing was capacity? Now I would put the engine first. I don’t know exactly what they did with the timing phases or anything else, but the engine pleases from the bottom and allows you to switch to the trail at relatively low speeds. transmission without compromising traction. Although, in my opinion, these are just well-chosen (short) gears in the box. Gasoline consumption I PERSONALLY HAVE a computer. shows an average of 8000 km - 9.2 liters. A handy thing on the computer is the indicators for, as it were, two users. So I reset the second user from new and don’t touch him anymore. And I reset the first one after each refueling and that’s all it doesn’t show. And this is CORRECT, logical! What indicators do we expect from the computer when we are stuck in a 10-kilometer traffic jam on the Moscow Ring Road for 2 hours, and having escaped, we fly 20 km in 15 minutes? And this happens very often (in Moscow)! I went to the dacha at night on weekdays - I got 6.9 liters. And on an electric train there would be 0 liters.

Strengths:

  • Engine
  • El.gur
  • Cargo capacity
  • Externally small

Weaknesses:

  • Front low
  • Solid seat second. row
  • Well, it takes a long time to warm up. salon in winter

Review of Opel Zafira 1.8 (Opel Zafira) 2008

Good afternoon everyone.

I bought the Zafira in September 2008. As of today (02/08/2010), my mileage is 92,003 km. I took the car for work. In general, everything is not bad. Good controls, quite decent design.

The first trouble was that a spider crawled onto the back door. As it turned out, this common problem not only the Zafir, but also the Astra (station wagon and hatchback). Repainted under warranty. So far so good. And they painted it for me at 28,000 kilometers.

Strengths:

  • Good dynamics
  • Handles very well in corners under any load

Weaknesses:

  • Poor quality Polish assembly
  • Body paint leaves much to be desired

Review of Opel Zafira 1.6 (Opel Zafira) 2006 Part 2

December 6th, a year has passed since I have been using this car. I drive it all the time. 23,000 km covered during the year. Well, what can I say - my opinion about the car has not changed since the last review. On the contrary, I began to trust him more after a trip to Crimea in September. During the trip (over 2 weeks) almost 4000 km were covered. and there was never any hint of any kind of malfunction.

The support bearing was replaced after the previous recall. steering rod, spark plugs, rear brake pads and a light bulb in the PTF.

Now the front wipers are "surviving". They are original, but they lasted a little more than six months... for 2000 rubles they could have been more durable) The car is now in perfect order and there are no upcoming repairs. Maintenance I'll carry it out myself. There are no signs of corrosion anywhere.

Strengths:

  • Appearance
  • Controllability
  • Capacity
  • Economical
  • Not interesting to car thieves
  • Full size spare tire
  • + Reliability

Weaknesses:

  • Low ground clearance
  • Small washer fluid reservoir
  • The spare tire is attached very awkwardly (at the bottom)
  • Radio works disgustingly

Review of Opel Zafira 1.6 (Opel Zafira) 2008

December 2008. The financial crisis is in full swing. The dollar is growing and taking on more and more new frontiers. It becomes clear that car prices will soon go up sharply. At that time I drove a VAZ 2115 2001 and had been looking at foreign cars for a long time, so I decided that before the ruble savings had completely depreciated, I needed to withdraw them from the deposit and shares and quickly buy new car until dealers raised prices. Taking into account the sale of the tag, the money accumulated was 590 thousand, and since I have a large family and we love to travel, I looked closely at minivans. Used I didn’t want one in principle, and the prices in relation to new ones were not much lower.

So, the goal has been set: to find a new Zafira with a 1.6 engine in the base. There was enough money for it and even a little left. I visited all the nearest dealers - only stuffed Zafiras with a 1.8 engine are available, the lowest price is 680 thousand. Well, I think it’s not fate, but at work a friend gave me the phone number of one salon where she once bought herself a car. I called there - they have a Zafira, 1.6, new, made a couple of months ago, price 557 thousand, color white + they also had a promotion, extra for 30,000 rubles. for free. The extras were already supplied by the manufacturer, they just didn’t charge extra for them: MP3 radio with steering wheel controls, cruise control and some other little things. The next day I went to look, the car was in the dealer's lot. When asked why you have it in stock when other salons don’t, the manager replied that it’s because there is no air conditioner. Well, I don’t need it at all, in the tag team we managed without it, I live outside the city, so we don’t get stuck in traffic jams in the heat. In general, I paid a deposit and bought it a couple of days later. The most interesting thing is that it was the end of December, and from January 1, all Zafirs went up in price by 50 thousand, and then the minimum wage became 703 thousand.

Compact van Zafira Family(this is the second generation of the model) is considered one of the most successful cars among modern compact minivans with seven seats.

Moreover, this car is popular not only in Europe, but also in Russia (where in 2012 it was assembled at the Avtotor plant in Kaliningrad), as well as in a number of other countries (in the markets of which this minivan is known under the names Zafira B, Chevrolet Zafira, Vauxhall Zafira and Holden Zafira...).

By the way, this model received the “Family” prefix only when the next generation of this compact minivan, the Zafira Tourer, appeared in Russia.

The exterior of the Zafira Family evokes only pleasant feelings. This minivan has a neat and at the same time dynamic design with well-thought-out body contours, elegant minimalist decor and stylish rims... Against this background, negative emotions are caused only by the front bumper, which has too low an overhang, which is clearly not a plus in the conditions of “Russian winter snow-covered yards.”

Now about the dimensions: the Opel Zafira Family is a fairly compact minivan, its length is only 4467 mm, its width fits into the frame of 1801 mm excluding mirrors and 2025 mm, if you also count them, and the body height rests at 1635 mm. The wheelbase length is 2703 mm, the front and rear track widths are 1488 and 1512 mm, respectively.

The minimum curb weight of this car is 1505 kg.

The main advantage of the Zafira Family is its interior...

And the point is not at all in the seven available seats (especially since only children can sit comfortably in the third row), but in the possibilities of transforming the space and organizing the interior. The minivan's interior is very ergonomic, offering comfortable seats, as well as plenty of places to store small items and secure various cargo. At the same time, the build quality is also “top-notch”...

Although there are several disadvantages that may seem critical to some car enthusiasts: the interior of the Zafira B is a little noisy, and the windshield pillars limit visibility.

The trunk of a minivan in its standard state can accommodate about 540 liters of cargo, but if you fold the two rear rows of seats, the useful volume will increase to 1820 liters, allowing you to transport even long items.

Technical specifications. On Russian market The Opel Zafira Family minivan is offered with only one option power plant. It's about about the petrol engine of the Ecotec family, which has four in-line cylinders with a total displacement of 1.8 liters (1796 cm³). The engine is equipped with a 16-valve timing belt, an injector, a variable valve timing system and is capable of developing up to 140 hp. (103 kW) maximum power at 6300 rpm. Peak engine torque is 175 Nm, achieved at 3800 rpm.

This engine is quite economical (consumes about 9.6 liters in the city, about 5.7 liters on the highway and only 7.2 liters in the combined cycle), while CO2 emissions fully comply with the Euro-4 environmental standard.

The only engine for the Zafira Family is combined - either with a 5-speed manual transmission or with a 5-speed Easytronic robot.

In both cases maximum speed movement is about 197 km/h. As for the dynamics of acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h, with a “mechanics” the minivan will do it in 11.5 seconds, but with a “robot” it will worsen this figure to 12.9 seconds.

The Opel Zafira (B) Family is built on the GM Delta platform, also known from the Astra H/C. The front part of the body is supported by an independent suspension with MacPherson struts and a reinforced stabilizer lateral stability. At the rear, a semi-independent torsion beam is used. The front axle wheels are equipped with ventilated disc brakes.

The rear wheels got simple disc brakes. Rack and pinion steering supplemented with an electro-hydraulic booster. We also note that already in the database the car receives ABS systems, EBD and ESP (if the “Safety” package is available).

The Zafira Family's suspension is quite well adapted to Russian roads, and the ground clearance of 160 mm helps improve cross-country ability in winter time or when traveling out of town. True, one cannot fail to mention the only weak point of the suspension - the shock absorbers, which, by the way, were not even covered by the warranty.

In terms of safety, this compact van does not surprise anyone with anything serious, offering a standard set for its price range in the form of: front and side airbags for the front row of seats, removable rear seat belts, a reinforced body frame and mounts for child seats... However, we note that according to According to EuroNCAP test results, the second generation Zafira minivan received a full five stars.

Options and prices. In 2018, the Opel Zafira Family in Russia can only be purchased on the secondary market - at a price of 350 ~ 600 thousand rubles (depending on the level of equipment and condition of the specific instance).

The basic list of equipment usually includes: 16-inch wheels, roof rails, crankcase protection, front fog lights, full power accessories, air conditioning, heated front seats, an interior lighting system for each row of seats, a FlexOrganizer cargo securing system, a socket in the trunk and an audio system with 6 -speakers and USB/AUX/mp3 support.

Opel Zafira) second generation - a large and comfortable car at an affordable price, perhaps best option For big family. Especially if the budget for purchasing a car is not large, it is worth noting that Zafira is one of the most affordable ones available on the secondary market. There are very few negative reviews about this car, but still, it has shortcomings, but we’ll talk about what they are and what to look for before buying this model.

A little history:

For the first time, the Opel Zafira was shown at the Frankfurt Motor Show in the spring of 1997, but in the guise of a prototype, the real history of the minivan began in 1999. The technical properties of the Opel Zafira are reminiscent of the Opel Astra, but still, there are some differences. For example, reinforced rear suspension and bumper larger size with air intake. In 2003, given the emergence of a large number of competitors, the company's management decided to lightly update the car, after which the appearance changed slightly and the list of available options increased. In 2005, a new generation of the model was presented in Geneva, built on a new platform, with a radically changed body design. Thanks to the new platform, the body length has increased by 15 cm, the width has increased by 4 cm, and the height has increased by 1 cm. Also, the signature feature of the car has been improved - rapid transformation of the interior. The bulk of cars sold on the secondary market are assembled in Poland or Russia.

Advantages and disadvantages of Opel Zafira with mileage.

As operating experience has shown, the paintwork is very soft, which is why chips and scratches appear on the body quite quickly. After 5-6 years of operation, the paint on the trunk door, wheel arches and rear doors begins to swell. Despite this, body parts does not rust for a long time.

Power units

The Opel Zafira engine range is represented by both petrol and diesel versions. Most widespread received gasoline engines 1.6 (105 and 115 hp), 1.8 (140 hp) and diesel engines 1.7 (110, 125 hp) and 1.9 (100, 120, 150 hp). There is also an unusual version of the 1.6 engine, which runs on natural gas, but it is a great success to come across such a car. For those who like to “light up”, there is a 2.2 engine (150 hp), a 2.0 turbo engine (200 hp) and a sports version OPC (240 hp).

The timing drive of gasoline and diesel engines is belt driven; officially, the replacement interval is 150,000 km, but many owners recommend changing it at least once every 100,000, since very often the belt breaks after a mileage of 110-130 thousand km. Gasoline aspirated engines have a common problem with automatic adjustment of distribution phases. If the car has this defect, you will understand it immediately: after starting cold engine, sound of operation gasoline engine will look more like an old diesel. If this problem is not treated, at the most inopportune moment the car will stall and you will not be able to start it.

Often the mechanical synchronization system of the intake camshaft fails; the service will ask for 20-50 USD to fix the problem. But if you ignore the operation of a gasoline engine with the sound of a diesel engine, you will soon need to replace the camshaft gears and seals. With a mileage of more than 80,000 km, an oil leak appears from under the cylinder head and oil seals; it must be repaired urgently, otherwise oil will get onto the timing belt, which will result in expensive repairs of the power unit. Diesel engines Opel Zafira is very reliable and economical, but if previous owner I used poor quality fuel, be prepared for repairs fuel system. Replacement of injectors (400-500 cu), fuel injection pump (300-400 cu). On all cars, closer to 100,000 km, the ignition module begins to fail; a signal of a malfunction will be floating speed and unstable traction of the car. Also, at this mileage it is necessary to replace the coolant temperature sensor and thermostat

Transmission

The Opel Zafira is equipped with manual, automatic or robotic box Easytronic gears. Up to 100,000 km there are no complaints about the manual transmission, after which there are jerks when starting from a stop, hum and vibrations when changing gears and driving. This happens due to wear of the secondary shaft and roller bearing; repairs will cost about 350 USD. The clutch has a fairly long service life and can last 120-140 thousand km; replacement will cost 400-500 USD. For many car enthusiasts, Easytronic looks like an automatic transmission, but in terms of reliability it is very much inferior to an automatic transmission. Therefore, often dishonest sellers who sell cars with a problematic robot indicate in the ad that the car has an automatic transmission, be extremely careful.

If the car is used only for driving on the highway, then the robotic transmission can last 150,000 km. But if the car is operated in a metropolis, then expensive gearbox repairs will be needed if the mileage is less than 100,000 km. The most common problem is failure of the clutch; repairs will cost 700-900 USD, and the same amount will have to be paid for replacing the mechatronics. The best option for purchasing would be an Opel Zafira with a regular automatic transmission transmission As operating experience has shown, breakdowns with this transmission are extremely rare. On some cars, there is an underfilling of oil, in which case the gears may shift poorly, and you may also feel jerking when shifting. Usually, after adding oil, these problems go away on their own.

Driving characteristics of the Opel Zafira

The suspension of this model is quite primitive, it is installed at the front independent suspension MacPherson type, semi-independent beam at the rear. If you drive this car carefully and do not overload it, then the first serious suspension repair will have to be done closer to 80 thousand km. Like most modern cars weak point The suspensions are considered to be stabilizer struts; they have to be changed, on average, every 30-40 thousand km. Wheel bearings, despite their high cost, rarely last up to 60,000 km; replacement will cost 120-180 USD. Support bearings last 40-50 thousand km, front shock absorbers become unusable after 100,000 km, but only on condition that you do not overload the car. Price original shock absorber approximately 100-120 USD, for the same money you can buy a pair that is not original.

The remaining parts of the front suspension of the Opel Zafira have been maintained for more than 100,000 km. Steering rods and ends have a service life of 100-120 thousand km. The rear suspension is considered indestructible; the only thing that will have to be replaced is the rear beam dampers after 120,000 km (replacement on both sides will cost 40 USD). If it starts to leak steering rack, do not rush to go to the service center and replace it with a new one; you will have to pay about 1000 USD for a replacement at the dealer. Try to find a specialist in your city to repair this unit; repairs will cost 100-200 USD.

Result:

Opel Zafira - will appeal to people who are cramped in station wagons, sedans and hatchbacks, as well as those who like to travel big company. If we talk about the reliability and cost of maintaining a car, then these components will give the car only positive emotions. The main thing is to find a living specimen! Also, avoid buying a car with a robotic transmission.

Advantages:

  • Capacity (7 seats).
  • High-quality interior materials.
  • Long service life of engines.
  • Reliable suspension

Flaws:

  • Weak paintwork.
  • Robotic transmission.
  • Not very comfortable driver's seat.
  • Noise insulation.

If you are the owner of this car model, please describe the problems that you encountered while using the car. Perhaps your review will help the readers of our site when choosing a car.

Impressions

1. Roomy.

2. Good handling.

3. Indestructible suspension.

4. Excellent climate control.

5. Starts in any frost (the minimum temperature at which it started was 37, it started on the 1st try after parking in the yard overnight).

6. Predictable and quite high service life of units.

7. Fuel consumption (AI-92) in the city is 10-11 liters in winter and summer, on the highway with a box on the roof - 6.8-7 liters. I didn’t feel the difference between 92 and 95 gasoline.

8. Very grippy brakes.

Cons of Opel Zafira:

1. Poor cross-country ability (although, of course, it depends on what you compare it to).

2. Poor visibility (very wide A-pillars, small mirrors), pedestrians often “emerge out of nowhere,” and you need to be prepared for this.

3. In frost below -20, the interior warms up after 10 minutes of warming up and 30 minutes of driving at an average speed of 50-60 km/h, and then only if there is a car blanket.

I mainly changed only consumables (timing belt with a mileage of 150 thousand km, alternator belt, pump and air conditioning compressor - 160 thousand km).

The first replacement of balls, front hubs, front silent blocks, steering tips with a mileage of about 200 thousand, I have never changed the shock absorbers and with a mileage of 230 thousand they are still quite alive, as well as the silent blocks of the rear suspension.

The fuel filter is changed together with the fuel pump according to the regulations at a mileage of about 150 thousand, I changed it at a mileage of about 180 thousand, there were no signs that the filter was clogged or the pump was not working, I changed it purely for my own peace of mind, so as not to worry that I'll stand somewhere on the highway.

I had to tow it to the parking lot once - the coolant temperature sensor was covered and the car stopped starting.

The mileage is 165 thousand km. A crack appeared on one of the ignition coils, which gradually became charred and “flashed to ground”, which sometimes caused the engine to fail. This was resolved by replacing the ignition module with a “Delphi” one, over the next 70 thousand km there were no comments.

Repaired using a repair kit:

1. heat exchanger with a mileage of about 220 thousand,

2. steering rack with mileage 230 thousand.

One day, after freezing with ice, the left rear view mirror shattered.

I changed the windshield (I bought it already with a “cobweb”), although, in general, it is quite resistant to chips. Over the last 60 thousand km there has been only one small pinhole. The glass is original, it cost 16 thousand, I ordered something other than the original for 8 thousand.

In the end, it arrived exactly the same as it was (down to the last letter in the inscriptions on the glass). However, this is not surprising - not a single automaker makes most of the parts themselves, so it makes no sense to order originals.

It is enough to know the official suppliers of the conveyor and you can save at least 2 times when purchasing.

For example, “original” Opel hubs - 16 thousand rubles, SKF hubs - 7-8 thousand rubles. (SKF inscriptions were stamped on the removed hubs). Ball original Opel thousands of 2 per piece, ball Lemferder (also the official supplier of Opel, as far as I know).

I bought it for 700 rubles (on the Internet on forums you can find a list of good and bad spare parts). By the way, the balls were riveted to the levers, the new ones came with bolts. With a mileage of 230 thousand, oil consumption from replacement to replacement (10 thousand km) is about 0.5 liters.

The tires were originally received from the previous owner, Nokian 205-55-16, both summer and winter (hakapelita). The rubber is so-so, I still don’t understand why it’s so expensive...

The winter one, for example, is very noisy, there were no special comments regarding the grip properties, but the studs were lost in batches, and the tread wear was quite rapid.

But we must give credit to the sidewall strength, especially the summer Nokian - it got into such holes that I thought the suspension would fall off, but in the end there was nothing wrong with either the suspension or the tires. After Nokian put summer tires Matador, size 205-60-16, on original wheels, for the winter - Gislaved Nordfrost-100 195-65-15.

Both the summer and winter ones added 1 cm within a radius - nothing rubbed anywhere, handling and comfort improved. I liked the Matador much more than the Nokian in terms of handling at high speeds. Where on Nokian there was a turn on the highway every day with a slight “whistle” at 90 km/h, on Matador there was not even the slightest hint of drift and without “whistles” at a speed of 100-105 km/h.

I also liked Gislaved, it’s very quiet (it’s not even noticeable in terms of noise after the summer), adequate to control, over the winter the loss of studs in the front is 1-2, in the back - 0. Of the minuses, I pierced the sidewall twice, and when starting on melted ice a little The front of the car pulled to the right, literally by 20 cm, although it never skidded while driving, and it braked quite predictably in any icy conditions.

On the body of an 11-year-old car there is not a single, even minimal, source of corrosion (the car has been parked for the last 6 years exclusively on the street, under a canopy from the previous owner), but there are quite a lot of chips on the hood with a mileage of 230 thousand, although I had to drive a lot on the highway .

Bottom line

I sold the car pretty quickly, I wrote down everything I remembered. I think that the Opel Zafira is a very good family car, with exciting handling, quite good comfort and functionality. Very underrated.

The Opel Zafira brand first appeared in 1997, the car was presented at the Frankfurt Motor Show, but it was only a prototype.

First appearance

In reality, the minivan appeared on the market in 1999 and in many characteristics it resembles the Opel Astra.

In 2003, the first generation Zafira underwent a slight restyling:

  • The rear lights have changed slightly;
  • A radiator grille with chrome trim was installed.

In 2005, Opel began producing the second generation Zafira B, this model was fundamentally different from its predecessor.

In addition to the external design, the car has the following changes:

  • the body was lengthened by 15 cm;
  • the car now has an active passenger safety system;
  • The rear seats have become convertible and can be easily folded, freeing up space in the cabin.

In 2011, the German concern presented the world with a version of the Opel Zafira C Tourer - the model was first shown at the Geneva Motor Show, and in Russia it appeared in 2013.

Engines of the Opel Zafira line

The Opel Zafira engine line includes both gasoline and diesel engines.

The most common are gasoline engines 1600 cm3 (Z16XE) and 1800 cm3 (Z18XER).

The Z16XE engine has a power of 105/115 hp. With. (two options), Z18XER engine – 140 “horses”.

Besides these power units there is also an internal combustion engine of 2200 cm3 (150 hp) and turbocharged engine 2000 cm3 (170, 200 or 240 hp, depending on engine modification).

There are only two power units in the diesel line:

  • 1.7 CDTI with a volume of 1700 cm3 and a power of 125 hp. With.;
  • Z19DT/ Z19DTL with a volume of 1900 cm3, power of 120 hp. With. and 150 l. With.

In Europe, a Zafira car was produced that ran on methane fuel, but such a copy was not produced in Russia.

Common problems with Opel Zafira B

Possible engine problems.

The gas distribution mechanism of the engines uses a belt drive, and according to factory recommendations, the belt should be changed after 150 thousand km.

In practice, it is recommended to replace the timing belt in Russian conditions after approximately 60 thousand km.

A broken timing belt does not bode well - with such a malfunction, the valves in the cylinder head meet the pistons, and they bend.

At best, the car owner will get away with replacing the valves, but the cylinder head may also have to be replaced.

If oil gets on the gas distribution belt, the belt may jump onto a tooth, which will also not lead to anything good - the engine will stall and not develop power.

There are often cases when the thermostat in the engine cooling system gets stuck, but this happens closer to 100 thousand kilometers.

The thermostat itself is inexpensive, especially since you can always purchase non-original spare parts.

Diesel engines are highly reliable, but you still can’t refuel with bad diesel fuel. The 1700 cm3 diesel engine is the most sensitive to fuel quality; the fuel injectors on these engines fail.

Another typical problem with diesel engines is that it clogs over time and prevents the car from moving normally.

This element of the exhaust system is very expensive; many car owners try to install a decoy to bypass the particulate filter.

In order for the motor to operate stably and not go into emergency mode, the control unit is flashed.

Transmission problems.

The manual transmission on the Opel Zafira B begins to “give up” after hundreds of thousands of kilometers:

  • a hum is heard when changing gears;
  • When the car starts moving, jerking appears.

The reason for the signs that appear is wear of the roller bearings and the secondary shaft itself.

Even weaker robotic gearbox, problems almost always begin with it closer to the mileage of 150 thousand km.

The main cause of breakdowns is the clutch, therefore, it is necessary to operate a car with such a transmission as carefully as possible.

There is another way to extend the life of the robotic gearbox and clutch - update the software during maintenance.

The automated gearbox will be the most reliable among all transmissions installed on the Opel Zafira.

Problems with it are rare, but you need to monitor the oil level. If the oil is less than required, gears begin to shift jerkily.

Suspension problems.

The Zafira suspension is very similar to the Astrovskaya, it is quite reliable, and begins to fail closer to 100 thousand km.

To increase its service life, you should not drive your car on bad roads, or overload the interior and trunk.

Stabilizer struts are consumables and are usually replaced at a mileage of 30 to 40 thousand km.

The problem with all Opels is the rear springs; they break quite often, especially when the car is under constant load.

It is often necessary to change wheel bearings, but the shock absorbers last quite a long time.

Steering rods and ends can easily last for about a hundred thousand kilometers, and they are not inexpensive at all.

It is possible that the steering rack may begin to leak, and the power steering also periodically fails.

The steering rack and power steering pump are very expensive, but there are options:

  • repair components;
  • look for spare parts at car dismantling yards.

The paintwork of Zafira B is not very good high level However, this “sore” is typical for all Opels.
