The novelty has a massive front part, an expressive radiator grill, sharp embossed stampings on the body. Looks impressive and solid. At the presentation of the car in Tula, one of the guests compared it with BMW and Honda sedans, and in this they were both right and wrong. Wrong, because, again, according to the manufacturer, the appearance of Solano II was not copied from any of the current existing vehicles. And they are right - because in terms of its dimensions the novelty is really closer to a higher class. In comparison with competitors from the C-class (and these are Renault Logan, Lada Vesta, Hyundai Solaris, etc.), the car is noticeably longer, and in terms of dimensions it is close, for example, to Renault Fluence or BMW3 series.

What will this fact give the owner of the car?

More representative, expensive exterior design and much more space in the cabin compared to the "classmates".

On our test drive, the three of us sat in the back - and it was not crowded. They planted a long-legged driver forward, behind - the same photographer, and both found where to put their legs without feeling discomfort.

In general, the car is comfortable anywhere. At the driver's seat, both the backrest and the seat are adjustable in height and angle of inclination, and the steering wheel is adjustable in height. You can find the ideal settings for a driver of any height and build. The passenger seat also has adjustments, the rear sofa has a comfortable wide seat. If two people are driving behind, you can fold down the wide armrest, which also opens.

If you meticulously examine the interior trim, then ... you won’t notice anything criminal! The Chinese have become more attentive to detail, and in Lifan Solano II is obvious. High-quality materials without any pungent odor, adjusted, even gaps between the elements, a very nice design of the front panel, white instrument and button illumination - no "New Year's" variegation, everything is stylish and restrained.

In the latest configuration, the car has a multimedia system with a display on the center console. It has a navigator, radio, the ability to connect a phone, a flash drive, a microCD card and a number of other options. The image from the rear view camera is also displayed.

All versions of the Solano II are equipped with a 1.5 liter engine with a capacity of 100 Horse power. Not enough? For riders, maybe yes. But if you do not forget that this is a city car that does not mark the category of sports cars, then its dynamics for driving according to the rules are enough for the eyes. Yes, and on the track, he confidently holds the road, is not inferior to his neighbors downstream and does not fail when overtaking. Soundproofing seemed a bit weak, but in this case, you can buy special soundproof fender liner from the dealer.

The transmission of the new model is a 6-speed manual, and this is also the only option for all trim levels so far. In the near future, as promised, luxury versions with a CVT will appear.

Although Solano II is an urban sedan, it will also be a useful companion for country trips and business.

On the highway, it consumes only 6.5 liters of fuel per hundred. And for transporting things and crops, a trunk is useful: its volume is a record for C-class cars, 650 liters, plus additional volume when the seats are folded.

Interestingly, the trunk in this car opens in three ways: a button from the passenger compartment, a button from the alarm remote control and a mechanism for opening from the inside. The last option is useful if, for example, you are accidentally closed (anything can happen). But seriously, it is needed in cases where the battery is dead in the car and other opening methods are no longer available. In other brands, you would have to disassemble the lining of the trunk, but here it is enough to fold the rear seats and open the lock from the inside.

You can treat cars of Chinese origin as you like, but there are two facts that you can’t argue with. Firstly, EVERYTHING is now made in China, including your iPhone, your branded clothes and shoes, as well as the engine from your German/Korean/Japanese car. Since China is trusted by Apple, Versace, Audi and hundreds of other world brands from all industries, it is already illogical to doubt the quality of Chinese cars.

Secondly, Chinese cars beat all competitors in terms of price.

And when you compare prices and equipment, there is no trace of prejudice against the "Chinese".

For example, let's take Solano II, Logan and Solaris, all in the minimum, cheapest configuration.

And here the Solano II triumphantly enters the stage. For a price of 499,900 rubles, we get: leather interior, anti-dazzle rear-view mirror, trip computer, LED optics, ABS and EBD, 2 airbags, alarm, central locking, power windows of all doors, air conditioning, audio system, 4 speakers, AUX and USB, trunk opening function from the alarm button and from the passenger compartment, driver's seat adjustment in 3 directions, front and rear mudguards. The list of equipment for one car is the same as that of two competitors combined.

In the maximum configuration for 599,900 (that is, slightly more expensive than the cheapest Solaris), Lifan, in addition to the previous list, will have heated front seats, a multimedia system with a touch screen, a rear-view camera and navigation, rear parking sensors, 2 more audio system speakers, an electric drive and heated rear-view mirrors, immobilizer, multifunctional steering wheel, alloy wheels.

Our conclusion about LIFAN Solano II: this is a car for those who are used to driving at a calm pace, who love space in the cabin, who need the car to be also roomy. Great option for family people: four or five people can comfortably ride the Solano, and fit everything you need in the trunk big family on the road. And it is also a car for those who want to get everything at once for relatively little money. With Solano II, you don't have to spend extra money to bring your car to perfection. It already leaves the assembly line fully prepared for comfortable and safe trips.

The Russian car market has already crushed many Chinese automakers and models - how many of them flashed like meteors and went into oblivion ... Lifan in general and Solano in particular are among the few survivors. The very fact of existence Chinese car, which has experienced, over six years of sales in our country, first a slight restyling, and then changing the first generation to the second, already speaks of a certain recognition. But what has changed?

The body retained all dimensions, except for the length: it increased by a symbolic centimeter, up to 4620 mm. Width, height and wheelbase are the same: 1705 mm, 1495 mm and 2605 mm. However, all external body elements - doors, fenders and bumpers - have been redesigned and updated. Headlights, taillights, turn signals in the mirrors and daytime running lights received LED elements. Trunk volume is noticeably increased - from 386 to 620 liters.

The design and interior trim have fundamentally changed - already in the basic version there were armchairs and a rear sofa made of artificial leather, even the simplest radio tape recorder supports USB, and the extended version of the multimedia system supports navigation and a rear view camera.

The new 100-horsepower 1.5-liter engine has replaced the old 106-horsepower 1.6-liter: the “one and a half” meets Euro-5 standards, and the average passport fuel consumption, compared to the previous generation car, has decreased by 1 liter and is now declared at the level of 6.5 liters per 100 km. However, the maximum torque has fallen - from 149 Nm to 129 Nm.

At first, the car will be equipped with a manual 5-speed gearbox, but a CVT will also appear later. The cost of the basic configuration of Solano II, as already mentioned, starts from 500,000 rubles.

Look and design

The Solano 2 has become only 10 millimeters longer than the previous generation, but it is much more important that it is 23 centimeters longer than the VW Polo Sedan, 25 centimeters longer Hyundai Solaris, 27 centimeters longer Renault Logan! Basically, a mighty and solid hood and a 620-liter trunk give an increase in dimensions, and although the interior does not shine with space, the formula “more car for the same money” works, and works well!

The architecture of the torpedo is very successful, everything is in place, everything is easily accessible. And, unfortunately, the interior volume is somewhat dissonant with the impressive external dimensions of the car ... Multimedia

In a rich configuration, the car is equipped with a multimedia system with a 7-inch touchscreen display and control from the steering keys. The screen, interestingly, is not capacitive, but resistive - that is, it reacts not to touch, but to pressing. The technology is outdated, but the display is very responsive and responds to any object other than a finger - in winter cold car You can operate the device without taking off your gloves.


The multimedia head unit can play music from a phone via Bluetooth, from a memory card, a USB flash drive, as well as an external device via a 3.5 mm input (its socket lives in the armrest along with the USB connector). A separate microSD card is reserved for navigation - software from Navitel is responsible for it. And when turned on reverse gear the image from the rear view camera installed above the license plate is displayed on the screen!


The multimedia interface is a little slow, but the logicality and consistency make up for everything. The main menu consists of a horizontal line of large icons, and the settings menu consists of a vertical list; even a person far from sophisticated gadgets will not get confused in them.

The audio system plays, however, it is rather flat, inexpressive - there are no tops or bass. Although, it would seem, there is a base for good sound - there are large “ovals” in the rear shelf, and the front speakers in the doors are complemented by remote tweeters.

Iron

Under the hood of Solano-2 is a new one and a half liter 16-valve engine with hydraulic lifters (a rarity now!) And a phase regulator. The engine compartment is spacious, which self-service enthusiasts will appreciate - access to most nodes is easy.


The engine is covered with a decorative plate, which, coupled with the soundproofing of the engine shield and the hood cover, perfectly muffles the sound of the engine in the cabin. Incidentally, after the rather rigorous testing we put the Solano to, the metal valve cover was appropriately hot, but the individual ignition coils for all four cylinders were just warm. So, a good thermal decoupling!



The master cylinder is tiny, because all the brakes around are discs, requiring minimal piston stroke and fluid displacement.


The generator is also "baby", the size of a large grapefruit, but the specialists of the dealer center praise it very much - they say it does not give failures.


On the upper tank of the radiator is a filler neck. Fans of classic solutions will approve!


All seams of the internal cavities are treated with a Movil-like anticorrosive agent - its traces in the form of dried droplets are clearly visible, for example, on the lower edge of the trunk lid:


By the way, in the trunk of Solano, in addition to the 620-liter usable volume, as well as an ordinary wheelbarrow wrench and a jack, the owner will find a bag that contains a cable, lighting wires, a first aid kit, an electric compressor and an emergency stop sign! Traffic

We pick up a car at the Lifan dealership in Simferopol and drive to the Crimean mountains. I shift gears according to speed, which seems to correspond to most inexpensive sedans with 1.4-1.6 engines and a power of about a hundred horses - and I don’t understand what is happening ... The car frankly does not go! Acceleration is practically non-existent; outside the city, having somehow reached a speed of under a hundred in fifth gear, the gas pedal generally “disappears” - you can take your foot off the pedal or, conversely, push it all the way to the floor - no difference ...


Strangled by Euro-5 standards, coupled with the sluggishness of the electronic throttle? Damn, the characteristics of the motor completely flew out of my head! This engine produces a maximum torque of 129 Nm at five thousand revolutions, which is noticeably higher than that of classmates. The engine loves to be turned without hesitation, and the gearbox with incredibly stretched second and third plays along with it, like an experienced partner who understands perfectly.


We twist from the heart, and a miracle happens - the car has dynamics and agility, adjusted for a low-power motor and a budget category, of course. At the same time, which is typical, the maximum thrust is achieved without a hoarse screech!

Agility, however, noticeably turns sour in the fifth after 120-130 - the manufacturer has shifted the operating range of the motor and transmission to the area of ​​\u200b\u200blow and medium speeds - summer residents who need peppy traction on an overloaded car will be satisfied, but lovers of long-distance intercity hauls - not very much.

Interestingly, the continuous supply of traction in second gear along the Crimean serpentines leading to the mountains, and racing in third gear along a mixture of primers and broken asphalt roads of the Ai-Petri mountain range did not lead to catastrophic consumption - the engine ate a little more than 10 liters, which for a hard annealing with constant acceleration and deceleration in low gears is simply ridiculous. And, in fact, average consumption in the “city + highway” mode, it did not exceed seven liters - in the break-in mode, this is just adjusted for the same 6.5 liters promised by the specification, which is one liter less than the previous generation Solano.

Disc brakes and impeccably tenacious - neither take away nor add. The suspension of the car (McPherson in front, a solid beam in the back, as “shoes” - Chinese Giti rubber of the 15th diameter with a dimension of 195/60) pleasantly struck - it resignedly swallowed huge pits and cobblestones of the Crimean mountains, it was not possible to break through it even once! The suspension is incredibly energy-intensive, with it you can safely bludgeon along the Russian "directions".

The electric power steering mechanism, of course, lacks composure to the reference criteria - with quick shifts of the steering wheel, cottoniness is felt (which may decrease when rubber from brands from the top ten are installed instead of standard ones) and the steering wheel needs to be damped at high speed harder, but the serpentines of the road on Ai-Petri Solano-2 I passed quite confidently and sometimes even boldly. It must be admitted that in terms of suspension and taxiing, the car is perfectly "Russified", it is a sin to demand more from the "Chinese" for such modest money that they ask for it.

On September 21, he held an official presentation of the Russian version of the Lifan Solano sedan 2016-2017 model year. From the same day, the second generation of the budget model is available for order at a price of 499,900 rubles.

The updated car has seriously added in terms of external design and interior configuration, while at the same time not offering anything new in the technical part. Nevertheless, the improvements made, flavored with a very attractive price tag, should allow Lifan Solano to strengthen its position in the low-cost car segment. The generational change did not affect dimensions new Chinese sedan. Only the length was adjusted, which increased by 70 mm (up to 4620 mm). The front part of the sedan does not indulge in super-original design solutions, but it attracts with a successful layout of seemingly uncomplicated elements. Among them, headlights with beautiful lens optics, a radiator grille with three horizontal slats, a laconic bumper with a pair of foglights on the sides and a small air intake cutout in the center stand out.

The stern is designed to match the front part - using simple shapes and clean lines. It is in this style that the lamps of the overall lighting equipment, the luggage compartment lid and rear bumper. The sidewalls of the Lifan Solano 2 body are decorated with a duty rib running along the line of the door handles and elegant mirror housings, complemented by turn signal repeaters.

Otherwise, the profile of the model repeats the outlines of a classic sedan with the usual proportions. Of course, the appearance is able to revive light alloy wheels 195/60 R15, which are the prerogative of older trim levels.

The salon of the new generation of the four-door flaunts a completely redrawn front panel with a completely different, different from the pre-reform, arrangement of controls. Against the backdrop of the nondescript interior of the “first” Solano, the interior of the 2nd generation car seems almost standard.

If in terms of design new Lifan Solano succeeded, then there were no special changes in the technical equipment. In the arsenal of the model, the former 1.5-liter gasoline unit, however, brought into line with the requirements of the Euro-5 standard. Peak power remained at the same level - 100 hp. Paired with the engine is a 5-speed mechanical box, the appearance of a variator from Solano of the 1st generation is also not excluded. In the future, the possibility of equipping the model with a 1.8-liter 128-horsepower gasoline “four”, which is installed under the hood of the Lifan X60, is being considered.

The rest of the sedan technology has not changed. The suspension is configured in the old way: front MacPherson strut and rear semi-independent beam. Brake mechanisms of all four wheels are disk. Steering supplemented with an electric booster.

The Russian specification provides for the presence of three trim levels: Basic, Comfort and Luxury. The initial version of the Lifan Solano of the second generation, offered at a price of 499,900 rubles, is well equipped. It has LED running lights, four power windows, air conditioning, a basic audio system (CD / USB / AUX) with four speakers, two front airbags, ABS and EBD.

The mid-range sedan gets an immobilizer, heated front seats and 6 speakers. Basic equipment includes everything that other budget models require an extra charge for - air conditioning and airbags, ABS, power accessories, chrome, central locking and even an audio system, and right from USB. That is why II is sure to interest even those who are dismissive of the Chinese auto industry.

The only remark from the journalists caused a slight disproportion. In profile, the car looks massive, which is why the size of the wheels seems disproportionately small. It is worth noting that wheels of 15 radius are installed on the car.


Interior design has become stricter and more interesting. Nothing in it irritates and does not seem superfluous, inappropriate, uncomfortable. The only remark is the constant glare on dashboard, which is why it is problematic to read the readings of the on-board computer. Significant progress is also found in ergonomics, but perfection is still far away - the chair itself does not please with an ideal profile, and I also want to adjust the steering wheel for reach, but, alas, it is still adjustable only in height.

The interior of the car is quite spacious - the supply of space is at the level of the best representatives of the B + segment, despite the fact that the manufacturer himself refers Solano to the C-class. Of the amenities for rear passengers, journalists note an armrest with cup holders. By the way, cup holders appeared on the center console. for front passengers.

The trunk volume is 650 liters, it opens either with a button in the cabin or with a key. However, as the authors of the test drive note, the trunk lid rods take up some usable space. The lack of an internal handle can also be considered a minus - to close it, you will have to take on the outer edge, which is often dusty or dirty.

The 1.5-liter engine has been upgraded: now there are phase shifters both at the intake and at the exhaust, and the engine itself complies with Euro-5 environmental standards. They also promise that it has become more economical and that the average consumption has decreased by almost a liter, but this can only be verified on a run-in car.

Journalists note that the novelty's motor, even without a run-in, demonstrates excellent "bottoms" - the car starts off easily, you do not need to "rev up" at the start or put more pressure on the "gas" to compensate for "thoughtfulness". Everything is clear and instantaneous - the engine reacts even to millimetric movements of the right leg and accelerates quite briskly even from low revs. Already at the end of the test, the authors measured the dynamics of acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h using a professional measuring complex. It turned out a little more than 13 seconds - very good for a 100-horsepower C-class sedan.

The authors were pleasantly surprised by the soundproofing of the cabin, in general, the background became noticeably lower. The same can be said about the ride and behavior: nothing annoying. A sharp and informative steering wheel, a dense chassis, nimble reactions and a slightly oversteer that is pleasant for any driver - the turns have definitely become much more "fun".

Having driven the car all day, the journalists did not find any significant shortcomings, but at the same time they were convinced that the car had really "grown up", became quieter, more collected, more pleasant to drive, much more interesting and better in the cabin. Of the minor disadvantages, it can be noted: the “viscous” gearbox drive, the gaps are far from ideal in places, the door still needs to be slammed a little harder than that of the “purebred” competitors. They can probably be adjusted at the first MOT.

Engineers from the Celestial Empire significantly reworked the Chinese Lifan Solano sedan, after which they awarded it the prefix "2", which, according to them, means the second generation of this model.

Indeed, although Lifan Solano 2 is still based on a platform from Toyota Corolla in its ninth reincarnation, after modernization, the “Chinese” has changed significantly for the better and has become like a quite decent car.

Exterior and interior

In length, Lifan Solano 2 has grown by 8 cm, but the distance between the axles has not changed. Externally, the sedan looks quite respectable, like an almost European car.

The driver's seat is easy to adjust to fit your height, but I must say that the driving position is not without features and, as before, is designed for a person of small stature. The backrest has to be placed in the most vertical position, otherwise you can’t reach the steering wheel, since the steering column is adjustable only in terms of tilt.

The Lifan Solano 2 seat is also not adjustable up and down. The seat cushion is a bit short, but in general, the inconvenience of landing, if any, remains within the acceptable range. You can get used to it, after which the car owner will no longer pay attention to it.

Build quality is good for a car of this price. There are gaps, but they are even and small. Plastic, of course, is hard, since Lifan Solano 2 is a purely budget car. The door cards are made with a pretense, you can see imitation leather with stitching on them. Piano black finish is quite appropriate here. There is plastic and “under the metal”, but this is no longer the former ridiculous silver coin. There are two cupholders on the central tunnel, and a box with AUX and USB connectors.

Driver's Toolkit

The instrument panel is new, the speedometer and tachometer are swapped. On-board computer, as before, is able to show the temperature of the coolant and the level of fuel in the tank, the doors are open or closed. What's more, it now also shows average fuel consumption and distances to fill up.

Pleased with the Chinese and multimedia system. You press the NAVI key and Navitel launches. What it is, everyone knows. And anyone can handle it, everyone knows where to buy cards for this program. In addition, Lifan Solano 2 pleases with a rear-view camera, moreover, the screen transmits a high-quality picture. Marking lines are visible, however, they are static, when the steering wheel is rotated, the position of these marking lines does not change in any way. Apart from some nuances, there are not so many reasons for nitpicking about the workplace of the driver Lifan Solano 2.

On the road

The main impression of the ride - Lifan Solano 2 has clearly matured. The existing roughness was overcome here and now the car seems to be a more finished product. At a speed of 80 km / h, the cabin is quiet, the engine is almost inaudible. Wind and tire noise is also absent, that is, the sound insulation is made soundly.

A one and a half liter engine has a hundred horses and there are enough of them for this car. The engine jauntily accelerates the car, although acceleration is accompanied by a clearly audible hoarse engine noise. However, the power and elasticity of the engine is enough.
They are also pleased that there is no vibration on the Lifan Solano 2 controls, such as the steering wheel, pedals and gearbox. It used to be, but the Chinese eliminated it. Now you can guess the Chinese origin of the car only by landing, and you get used to it over time.

Although there is no vibration on the gear lever, it happens with roughness, the backstage creak is felt. I think this can be fixed. In general, nothing bad, that is, the lever is securely fixed and does not hang out in gears.
The motor is enough, but at speeds up to 2000 it is passive and only after 2000 rpm it is actively driving. In order to effectively accelerate, it is not necessary to unscrew the engine into a ringing. 4000 - 4500 rpm is completely enough to effectively accelerate and outstrip the flow.

The motor is actually elastic and from a subjective point of view it is enough.
