Better than Toyota Land Cruiser 200. Why Toyota Land Cruiser is so expensive. Features of power units

Legendary SUV Toyota Land In the fall of 2007, Cruiser experienced another (eighth) generation change (having received the “200” index for its name) and made its European premiere at the end of October at the International Automobile Show in St. Petersburg.

Since then, it has been updated several times, but, as they say, first things first... Introduced in 2007, the “two hundredth” not only retained the outstanding off-road qualities of its predecessors, but became much more technologically advanced and more comfortable.

At the end of 2011, it received the first “portion” of updates, which affected both the exterior, the interior, and the technical part. On the outside, the car received new bumpers, modern spotlight-type front optics and mirrors with LED repeaters, but changes to the interior were limited to new “decor” and functions. In addition to this, under the hood of the Russian versions of the SUV they “registered” a new gasoline engine V8.

In August 2015, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 once again underwent a restyling, which did not involve major alterations. The front part has changed most noticeably, receiving new headlights, a radiator grille and a hood, but the rear has changed in small ways - slightly reshaped lights and a slightly adjusted trunk lid.
There was no revolution in the interior, although it was refined with new options and better materials. The SUV's technology remained virtually untouched, but the list of equipment was replenished with additional items.

In general, we can say that the appearance of the full-size Land Cruiser 200 SUV embodies “indestructible power and absolute confidence.” The intricate, but decisive-looking front part shows a raised trapezoidal radiator grille with “spikes” piercing the head optics, completely LED headlights and a massive bumper with sections of fog lights.

The silhouette of the Japanese SUV is distinguished by its monumental contours with the “muscles” of the wheel arches, accommodating “rollers” measuring from 17 to 18 inches. The stern of the “land cruiser” houses rectangular lights with LED sections, interconnected by a chrome crossbar, and a huge two-section trunk lid.

The impressive appearance of the “two hundredth” is supported by no less impressive dimensions of the body: its length is 4950 mm, its width reaches 1980 mm, and its height is 1955 mm. The car has a 2850 mm distance between the axles, and the minimum ground clearance fixed at 230 mm.
When equipped, the weight of the “Japanese” exceeds 2.5 tons – from 2582 to 2815 kg, depending on the modification.

Inside the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 there is an atmosphere of harmony and luxury, which is created through a presentable design and high-quality finishing materials. Behind the massive multifunctional “donut” of the steering wheel are hidden large dials of a laconic instrument cluster with a 4.2-inch “window” trip computer in the middle.

In the center of the front panel there is a solid “chest of drawers” with a 9-inch display of the multimedia complex, under which there are buttons for controlling auxiliary functions and blocks for the zone climate system and standard “music”.

The interior of the SUV is finished with high-quality materials, including expensive plastics, genuine leather, as well as metal and wood inserts.

The front seats of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 have a wide profile, soft filling and large ranges of settings, but practically no support on the sides. On the second row of seats, which can be moved longitudinally, there is plenty of space in each direction, and its backrests are adjustable according to the angle of inclination. The seats in the “gallery” are also comfortable, but they are more suitable for children.

The luggage compartment volume of the 200th Land Cruiser with a seven-seater layout is 259 liters. With the third row seats folded, the capacity increases to 700 liters, and if the middle sofa is also transformed, then up to 1431 liters.
The “hold” has the correct shape and a wide opening, and the spare wheel is suspended under the bottom to save space.

Technical specifications. Under the hood of the basic SUV is a 4.6-liter (4608 cubic centimeter) naturally-aspirated V-shaped petrol engine equipped with an aluminum cylinder block, a direct fuel supply system, a timing chain drive and variable valve timing technology. Peak engine generates 309 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 439 Nm of torque at 3400 rpm.
Paired with a 6-speed automatic and all-wheel drive transmission, it accelerates the big guy from zero to 100 km/h in 8.6 seconds and allows him to reach a top speed of 195 km/h. The rated fuel consumption is 13.9 liters per “hundred” in combined driving conditions.

An alternative to it is a V8 diesel unit with twin-turbocharging and direct injection of diesel fuel under Common-Rail pressure, which, with a volume of 4.5 liters (4461 cubic centimeters), produces 249 “horses” at 2800-3600 rpm and 650 Nm of rotating thrust, realized in range from 1600 to 2600 rpm.
This engine works in partnership with automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The “solid fuel” Toyota Land Cruiser 200 exchanges the first “hundred” in less than 9 seconds, reaches a peak speed of 210 km/h and on average “eats” about 8 liters of fuel in mixed mode.

"Two hundredth" is equipped permanent drive on four wheels with a locked center differential, free cross-axle differentials and a low range transfer case. Mechanical part also complemented by rich electronic support. Under normal conditions, traction is transmitted between the axles in a ratio of 40% to 60%. “Smart” torque distribution control is capable of transferring from 30 to 60% of the torque to the front wheels, and from 40 to 70% to the rear wheels.

The Land Cruiser 200 is based on a classic frame design with independent suspension on two parallel arms on each side at the front and a solid axle with coil springs and a Panhard rod at the rear.
The SUV is equipped with a rack-and-pinion steering mechanism with hydraulic power steering, and the braking system is represented by powerful ventilated discs on each wheel.
By default, the Japanese “big guy” is equipped with anti-lock braking technology for all types of terrain (Multi-terrain ABS), as well as EBD systems, Brake Assist and other electronic “assistants”.

Options and prices. On Russian market The updated Toyota Land Cruiser 200 (2015-2016 model year) is sold in three trim levels – “Comfort”, “Elegance” and “Lux”.

  • The basic solution with a petrol V8 will cost a minimum of 2,999,000 rubles, and the list of its equipment includes ten airbags, dual-zone climate control, LED headlights, electric windows on all doors, rain and light sensors, as well as Multi-terrain systems ABS, EBD, BAS, A-TRC, VSC.
  • The “Elegance” version costs from 3,852,000 rubles, and among other things, it “flaunts” a leather interior, a four-zone climate control system, heated, electric and ventilated front seats, parking sensors, as well as a multimedia complex with a 9-inch screen.
  • The “top” version “Lux” cannot be purchased for less than 4,196,000 rubles, and its prerogatives are considered adaptive steering, all-round cameras, a navigator, a power tailgate and a blind spot monitoring system.

An optional “Safety” package is available for the SUV, which combines adaptive cruise, automatic braking, driver fatigue monitoring, road sign recognition and lane marking monitoring systems.

Japanese automobile manufacturer Toyota won an ideal reputation. The SUVs of this company are considered one of the best, with the Land Cruiser 200 and Prado 150 being especially popular. Many motorists are trying to understand which car deserves the most attention and what advantages each competitor has.

A Brief History of Toyota's Classic Cruiser Prado

First generation Toyota Prado was introduced back in 1987. It was then that the story of one of the most best SUVs available to Russians. The 90, 120 and 150 models gained equal popularity among car enthusiasts. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages. However, the 150th model is considered the most serious competitor for the Toyota Land Cruiser 200, so many motorists are interested in what is better than the Land Cruiser 200 or the Prado. It is not so easy to reliably answer the existing question, because both SUVs confirm the reputation of the Japanese manufacturer Toyota. Despite this situation, a choice can still be made and even necessary.

What you need to know about Prado 150

The 150th model appeared only in 2010. For seven years, the SUV has managed to gain a certain fame among car enthusiasts who appreciate characteristic features car.

The SUV is pleased with the presence of good units, each of which is intended for a specific circle of motorists:

  • petrol 2.7-liter 163-horsepower;
  • 4-liter 282-horsepower gasoline;
  • 3-liter 173-horsepower turbodiesel.

You can guess that the dynamics are still accessible to car enthusiasts. In fact, not only this aspect contributes to successfully attracting the attention of the target audience.

The main advantages are as follows:

  • solid appearance;
  • ideal vehicle build quality and guaranteed structural strength;
  • spacious and comfortable interior, ideal even for long trips;
  • large trunk with a power outlet;
  • all-round parking sensors and a convenient rear view camera, making travel easier;
  • adaptive head optics and xenon, guaranteeing optimal luminous flux under all conditions.

However, the Prado 150 has certain disadvantages:

  • a very thin paint layer on the body leads to scratches appearing even after touching branches;
  • uncomfortable and hard driver's seat;
  • rigid suspension;
  • off-road characteristics do not meet the expectations of motorists in every case.

It should be noted that the Prado 150 has quite a lot of controversy, despite its high level of popularity. As a result, many motorists have a sincere desire to compare the Land Cruiser 200 and Prado 150 in order to understand which SUV deserves the greatest level of popularity.

Features of Toyota Land Cruiser 200

Toyota Land Cruiser 200 - all-wheel drive SUV, based on the Lexus LX570. The history of this model started back in 1951, and the popularity of the car still remains quite high. The SUV is designed for 5 or 7 people, so you can do decent choice taking into account your personal preferences.

The 200th model, compared to the previous 100th, surprises with its high level comfort and impressive design. It is not surprising that the Land Cruiser 200 managed to gain a high level of popularity among its fans.

Important! The Toyota Land Cruiser-Prado car was created on frame structures body, giving a high level of reliability. It should be noted that the 200th model has increased body rigidity and cannot please with optimal geometry, as a result of which the off-road characteristics have deteriorated slightly. At the same time, successful vehicle control on the road is facilitated by innovative KDSS system, giving decent hardness to stabilizers. The Land Cruiser 200 pleases with its almost complete absence of roll, despite its impressive weight.

The car interior surprises with a high level of comfort, which becomes available to every passenger. The only caveat is that the third row of seats is only comfortable for children. When choosing the Land Cruiser 200, one cannot help but note the sophisticated design and use of high-quality finishes. Despite the unattainability of a fashionable interior design, comfort is still noted.

Motorists can choose a 4.4-liter 235-horsepower diesel or a 4.6-liter 309-horsepower gasoline units. Both engines are successfully combined with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This equipment contributes to significant fuel consumption, but at the same time pleases with a high level of reliability.

Which is better to choose: Prado 150 or Land Cruiser 200

The Japanese manufacturer Toyota offers two worthy SUVs that compete with each other: Prado 150, Land Cruiser 200. Which option should you choose if you want to enjoy a perfect car even off-road?

Exterior

Prado 150 is a model that is an attempt to polish its predecessor.

The Land Cruiser 200 SUV, in turn, received a brutal design from the 100th model, which was produced before it. In fact, the Prado 150 is more controversial, despite endless attempts to improve the design. Land Cruiser 200 corresponds to modern trends, and only minimal changes are made to the exterior while maintaining the principles.

Interior

Another thing is the interior of Japanese SUVs. Land Cruiser Prado 150 strives to preserve family features with regular changes based on modern trends. They try to make the Land Cruiser 200 expensive and graceful, but no expensive finishing materials are used.

The Land Cruiser Prado attracts with the following positive aspects:

  • neon lighting, pleasing to the eye;
  • geometric shapes that contribute to the refinement of the front panel;
  • decent implementation of ergonomics;
  • comfortable chairs, which still remain not the best in terms of comfort;
  • presence of multimedia.

In any case, with each new modification, both SUVs become better. This confirms the appearance in the Land Cruiser 200 of a number of modern systems that contribute to the full enjoyment of trips:

  • system for tracking road markings;
  • equipment for automatic switching between high and low beams;
  • driver fatigue control;
  • traffic sign recognition system;
  • active cruise control;
  • forward collision warning system.

Comfort is guaranteed for every motorist and passenger.

Luggage compartment volume

Competitors have different trunk sizes. For Prado, the figure is 600-1900 liters in a 5-seater version, 100-1800 liters in a 7-seater version.

The Land Cruiser 200 has 259 liters available in the 7-seater version, and 700 or 1431 liters in the 5-seater version, depending on folding the middle and rear rows of seats.

When choosing a car for a larger number of passengers, you still need to sacrifice the volume of the luggage compartment.

Technical equipment

The Land Cruiser 150 goes well off-road with a 2.8-liter turbodiesel, which differs increased level noise. The diesel unit is offered with a 6-band automatic transmission, which pleases with good technical data. The initial 2.7-liter gasoline engine is offered with a 5-speed manual transmission. At the same time, the best parameters are demonstrated by a 4-liter engine running on gasoline.

Attention! The 200th model has a smaller selection of units, but each of them pleasantly surprises with its power. As a result, the technical equipment still turns out to be more interesting.

When trying to understand which is better to choose, the Prado 150 or the Land Cruiser 200, you need to understand the design features of each Japanese SUV. Only a thorough study of the advantages of both models and a clear understanding of your needs will allow you to make a worthy choice.

Choosing a crossover is an important matter when you take into account the cost of such a car. Moreover, they now offer a large number of different vehicles. Among such diversity, it is difficult to give preference to a specific model, but you have to decide somehow.

If you want to understand what will be better: Patrol or Land Cruiser 200, our article will help you make the final decision.

If you want to compare the Nissan Patrol and Land Cruiser 200, then you should start with the most important thing - technical features models. It is worth noting that the technical indicators are not too different here. Both vehicles are equipped with a V8 engine, as a result, fords up to 70 centimeters deep do not cause any difficulties in overcoming. Besides, standard equipment both there and there assumes front and rear disc brakes. True, Nissan has more ground clearance (27.5 centimeters compared to 22.5 cm).

But if you are objective when choosing a Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser 200, then it is worth noting that the first car is somewhat superior to the first. First of all, it’s worth focusing on the engine size. For Nissan it is as much as 5.5 liters, while for Kruzak it is 4.6 (which is also quite powerful). The transmission is also different:

The dynamics of both cars are simply excellent (given their dimensions!), but even here Nissan has overtaken its Japanese competitor. The Patrol takes a hundred in 6.6 seconds, while the Toyota can reach a similar speed in only 8.6 seconds. And the maximum acceleration is 210 and 205 kilometers, respectively.

Video test drive and Nissan comparison Patrol and Toyota Land Cruiser 200:

As a result, this also affected fuel consumption indicators. The 200 model Land Cruiser is somewhat more economical. In mixed mode it will require 13.6 liters, while for the analogue from trademark Nissan needs as much as 14.6 liters under the same driving conditions.

What makes Toyota different?

Before you find out which is better: Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser 200, it is worth assessing the features of each vehicle. And we will begin our description with a representative of the Toyota automaker. We can say with confidence that almost everyone has a dream of purchasing just such a car. Especially if we're talking about about the presentable Land Cruiser 200, or at least RAV4.

Until now, manufacturers are proud of their brainchild, and for good reason. After all, both the exterior and interior of the car are simply perfect; any changes can damage the decor.

This car model is in an aura of mysticism - probably, if you improve the vehicle by adding a little handling and comfort, as well as equipping it with independent suspension and a number of other fashionable elements, it may lose its charm.

On the other hand, even now the car behaves just fine. The car turned out to be strong, reliable, it can easily overcome almost any off-road conditions. This is confirmed by a lot of ratings, where Toyota has practically no worthy competitors among other SUVs.

A few words about Nissan

But strengths in the battle between Nissan Patrol and Land Cruiser 200, not only the second car has it. In general, the process of creating the model itself is most likely due to the fact that the automaker did not have a worthy competitor to the LC 200.

As a result, the new Patrol is larger and more massive than its previous counterparts. The car is distinguished by its monumental interior. At the same time, all design decisions related to the design of the body do not in any way affect the spaciousness of the cabin.

Interior features

It is difficult to choose between the Nissan Patrol or Toyota Land Cruiser 200 in terms of roominess and spaciousness inside. At first glance it may seem that the LC 200 is smaller, as it is more compact in appearance. At the same time, both according to experts and reviews from owners, the driver and passengers feel comfortable in both cars.

IN Nissan Patrol The rear seats are slightly higher than the Cruiser seats. At the same time, there is a full third row that can be folded, which significantly increases the capacity. At the same time, in the Kruzak the seats are moved to the sides. In fact, the LC 200 lags behind when it comes to luggage space. But he covers this card with the fact that it is better to sleep in a Toyota. This is especially true for fishermen and hunters. You won’t have to curl up there when you sleep; there’s plenty of space. In addition, the Cruiser's trunk is equipped with a hinged door, which allows you to transport long items such as skis.

Whatever model the future car owner chooses, the vehicle will be equipped with a spacious refrigerator between the front seats. But in Nissan, the lid of the device is bi-directional, so even passengers sitting in the back can use the refrigerator.

Continuing to choose: Nissan Patrol or Toyota Land Cruiser 200, it is worth emphasizing that the latter car is equipped with a number of newfangled features, including:

  • ventilation of the front seats;
  • heated steering wheel;
  • four-zone climate control.

At the same time, passengers can also control such climate control. Rival Nissan is not far behind. Among the advantages of the model are adaptive cruise control, as well as monitors built into the headrests.

In fact, it is impossible to objectively assess which is better: Patrol or Land Cruiser. True, for lovers of conservatism, a second car is suitable, and there is more comfort and coziness there. But Nissan is distinguished by its elaborate curves and massive trim, which adds originality to it.

Features of power units

We have already compared: Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser 100 in terms of technical characteristics, but now we will dwell on this in more detail. Powerful engines allow Nissan to stand alongside modern sports cars, because even they do not always reach a hundred in 6.6 seconds.

In principle, you can’t want more from such an engine. In the case of the Cruiser, everything is somewhat simpler, because the engine volume is almost a liter smaller, and the horsepower is a hundred percent lower. On the other hand, we have two options:

  • Nissan is more powerful, faster, faster;
  • The LC 200 is more economical (for example, to feed the Patrol you will need about 25-30 liters of gasoline when driving around the city).

The engine is paired exclusively with an automatic gearbox, while the transmission also has a manual mode.

True, it is important to say that Toyota is equipped with much more efficient braking system. Despite this, when braking, the car leans forward, and in the case of the Patrol, it also tilts to the side.

For many car enthusiasts, the choice between Toyota Land Cruiser or Nissan Patrol is obvious, since the latter option has independent suspension. But in practice, managing both vehicles not so easy, although you can completely forget about various road irregularities - even large holes and potholes are easily absorbed by the suspension.

The steering is also somewhat superior to the Toyota. It completely allows you to forget about all the vibrations, and the feedback with directional stability is at the same level. The Nissan Patrol has its own trump card - it has practically no lateral roll, even on fairly sharp turns.

Passability level

If we were talking about the conditions of Africa, where everything is covered with sand, then there could be no doubt about the leader - Nissan would have overtaken its competitor in 10 minutes. At the same time, in Russia it is unlikely to find a track entirely made of sand. The main problem is mud, swampy terrain, and snow. However, the Patrol does not have a “dirt” program, although there are many others designed for off-road driving.

Multifunctionality of the device system

But here it’s easy to compare cars. Although the Land Cruiser 200 has great functionality that allows you to overcome off-road conditions, it is not so easy for the driver to reach the control system. Switching buttons quickly is difficult, especially if you rarely have to do it. But the Nissan two-stage washer, which is responsible for all the Off-Road systems present, is very convenient to use.

Even though the ground clearance of the Toyota is lower, it copes better with the corners of the road. On the other hand, even if the bottom of the Patrol crosses out the road surface, it is almost impossible to damage the car in this way, since all systems are hidden and located much higher than the frame.

Among the main disadvantages of vehicles, it is worth noting poor maneuverability on soft ground. The cars are massive, so they sag easily. An inexperienced driver may drive the vehicle so far that he will have to use a powerful tractor to get it out.

Small technical tricks

As a rule, people who purchase such crossovers use them not only off-road, but also in urban environments.

It is important for Patrol owners to know about one feature of the car that allows them to observe the street from above.

Thanks to the display of all four cameras, it will be possible to comprehensively assess the situation on the road and make the right decision during parking and other maneuvers.

What do we have as a result?

So, if you want to choose a Patrol or Land Cruiser 100 (or the 200th model), then it’s difficult to come up with an unambiguous result. After a thorough assessment of the cars, we can say that the Patrol is the spiritual successor of Toyota, but it surpasses its counterpart solely in terms of dynamics and cross-country ability. But in terms of comfort and controllability, the cars are on the same level.

As a rule, the Toyota LC 200 is preferred by people who want more space and a smooth ride, but the Nissan is an excellent choice for those who like fast driving, quick acceleration and original decor. It is worth considering that the Kruzak will cost an order of magnitude more - the most expensive Nissan is 100 thousand cheaper basic configuration Toyotas.

Choice video: what better than Nissan Patrol or Land Cruiser 200:

  • Ford Explorer Sport, petrol, 3.5 l (345 hp), 6-speed automatic, Sport, RUB 3,399,000. (hereinafter prices are indicated as of January 22, 2016)
  • Chevrolet Tahoe- gasoline, 6.2 l (409 hp), 6-speed automatic, LTZ, RUB 3,840,000.
  • Toyota Land Cruiser 200- petrol, 4.6 l (309 hp), 6-speed automatic, Luxe Safety, RUB 4,533,000.

Oil painting

I look at our heroes, and Vasnetsov’s “Three Heroes” appear before my eyes. In the spotlight, of course, is Ilya Muromets, our most revered hero - Land Cruiser 200. In terms of sales volumes, this powerful all-terrain vehicle has been many times ahead of its competitors throughout its entire career, and after the recent restyling it has every chance of maintaining its leadership.

Will Dobrynya Nikitich, that is, the fresh Chevrolet Tahoe, be able to defeat him? He also has many exploits and legends behind him, and the fathom in his shoulders is no less oblique. In its latest generation, it has become even larger, more powerful and, which is extremely important in these times, has an attractive price.

And on the other hand is Alyosha Popovich, aka Ford Explorer Sport. Not so stocky, but brave and daring in warfare. It is shorter in sprout, but in length and width it is not inferior to other heroes. Why isn't the engine V8? So his “turbo-six” produces as many as 345 “horses” - more than that of Ilya Lendkruzerovich!

Drill review

Toyota Land Cruiser 200

The current generation of the Japanese bestseller debuted in 2007. In 2013, the car was refreshed, and last fall it was seriously modernized: the design was changed, the technical stuff was updated.

Engines:

  • petrol 4.6 (309 hp) - from RUB 2,999,000.
  • diesel 4.5 (249 hp) - from RUB 2,999,000.
The interior of the “two hundred” was transformed during modernization. But - amazing thing! - you can’t say that it looks more modern than before. The laconic style remained with it, and even after driving for a week, I cannot remember the interior in detail. Perhaps the most noticeable detail is the large nine-inch screen high definition. Other signs of the times include a platform for inductive charging of a smartphone, a traffic sign recognition system, adaptive cruise control, and a driver fatigue reporting system.

The interior is dressed in more expensive materials, and semi-aniline leather gives it a special nobility - this grade is used on Lexus cars. It's a pity that the front door handles remain the same miniature - you can't grab them with a heroic palm. It was a sin to complain about visibility before (thin roof pillars, large mirrors, large glass area), but now all-round cameras have appeared.

Chevrolet Tahoe

The world premiere took place in 2013, but the American hero reached Russia only a year later. A long-wheelbase version of the Suburban is also sold in America.

Engine:

  • petrol 6.2 (409 hp) - from 2,990,000 rubles
The Tahoe's interior is amazing. All-wheel drive Chevrolets have never had such a bright, lush, elegant interior. The instruments with a quartet of secondary scales above the speedometer and tachometer look especially interesting. The color combination was also well chosen: brown leather, dark chocolate plastic, wood. Tahoe is the coziest place! Although the build quality is not ideal: the gaps between the parts are too large, some interior elements are loose...

Americanisms? Where would we be without them? Here is the electric adjustment of the pedal assembly (useful thing). But the old-fashioned automatic poker instead of the floor selector we are accustomed to - because of it, the left steering column lever was overloaded with functions. For several days I still didn’t have time to remember what was what. The visibility also deserves criticism. A small car can easily hide behind the wide pillars, there is only one rear view camera, and I would like the outside mirrors to be larger.

Ford Explorer

The latest generation Explorer, which debuted in 2011, got rid of the frame and range and, sadly, moved into the category of crossovers. At the end of last year, a restyled version entered the market.

Engines:

  • petrol: 3.5 (249 hp) - from 2,799,000 rubles, 3.5 turbo (345 hp) - from 3,399,000 rubles.
Unlike its rivals, you don’t climb into the Explorer’s cabin, but sit down - this is due to the lower body height. The driving position is that of a car, not an upright command position. But inside the Ford is more modest: simple finishing and gloomy black colors do not add optimism. Even carbon-look lining and red stitching on the seats and steering wheel are unable to cheer up this dark kingdom. But there are no questions about ergonomics.

The Tahoe's second row surprised me. Instead of a solid sofa, it has two separate armchairs, like in a luxury sedan.

In terms of space, Tahoe cannot compete with long sedans, but the level of equipment is good: individual armrests, heated seats, its own microclimate control unit, two sockets (12 and 230 V) and even a multimedia system with an overhead screen. There is also a third row. Access to it is not difficult, but the “luggage” seats are cramped, you have to sit almost on the floor.

Whether it's the third row of Ford! Here there is a noticeably greater human seating and space reserve. At least, with a height of 181 cm, I positioned myself normally.

But Ford is lower than Chevrolet! Miracles... The second row is no more cramped than in the Tahoe, but the lack of a center armrest and overhead handles in a car in this price category is puzzling.

We got the Land Cruiser 200 in a five-seater version. And if you’re going to be a passenger, then in a Toyota! It’s the most comfortable place: the sofa is perfectly profiled, and the middle seat is the most comfortable in my memory. If only there was more room for feet, it would be a real thrill. The sofa moves back and forth, and the backrests are adjustable for tilt. And only the Kruzak is equipped with four-zone climate control. There are countless deflectors: it blows into your knees, from the ceiling, from the door pillar. There is no chance of freezing! The picky ones will only complain that there is no 230 V outlet - there is only a 12-volt one.

On the battlefield

Even the previous Tahoe amazed with its huge “heart” (5.3 V8), but the new generation car’s displacement of the V8 is absolutely shocking - 6.2 liters! The torque is epic - 623 Nm. But the output is only 409 hp. You can remove much more from such a volume.

I turn the steering column poker into D mode - get on your horses! But we immediately had to make adjustments to the script: the gas pedal is overly damped and in order to move the Tahoe, you have to press hard. And if he pressed it a little, he jumped forward sharply. Inconvenient, especially in tight parking. But if there is operational space in front of you, the Chevrolet rushes forward like an artillery shell, ringing out the surroundings with low-frequency cannonade. Bliss! It’s just that during active acceleration, the automatic transmission sometimes switches with considerable jerks, and the fuel reserve needle drops before our eyes. Average consumption amounted to 25 l/100 km.

Under the hood of Toyota is a more modest 4.6 V8 engine, which produces only 309 hp. And since the Land Cruiser 200 is half a centner heavier than the Tahoe, it is not surprising that it does not accelerate as quickly - it no longer gives you goosebumps. Nevertheless, these cars received the same marks for acceleration dynamics, since it is much more convenient to control Toyota acceleration: the automatic transmission is configured more logically and intelligently, there is no need to adapt to the accelerator.

And most of all I liked the Explorer Sport. The turbo-six engine has enough thrust in any situation, the automatic transmission works perfectly, plus the smallest weight - with a parallel start, the Ford easily leaves its rivals. I have no doubt about the claimed 6.4 seconds acceleration to hundreds. At the same time, the “blue oval” is the least gluttonous (17 l/100 km), and it can be filled with “ninety-second” gasoline. And the Explorer Sport handles well. It willingly dives into turns and stands firmly on the arc; the steering wheel is not devoid of feedback. It’s immediately clear that asphalt is Ford’s native element. But on the off-road he did not perform so confidently, as Maxim Gomyanin talks about separately.

The LC200 isn't as agile when cornering. But not hopeless! Yes, the steering wheel is empty and the rolls are deep, but the Kruzak holds its trajectory with a death grip and after a series of S-shaped ligaments is not far behind the Ford.

Tahoe looms somewhere in the rearview mirrors. He generally hates fast maneuvering: reactions to steering wheel turns are inhibited, the huge body sways up and down. And the smoothness of the ride is far from ideal: the Chevrolet kicks at joints and cracks and shudders sharply on larger bumps. Relaxed riding? Only on perfect asphalt!

The choice of vehicles presented by foreign manufacturers of new unique cars can make your head spin. The presented cars differ not only in prices, but also in their quality, presentability, ergonomics, and driving parameters. The vehicles produced will be able to satisfy even the most biased and demanding buyers with budgets in the millions.

Comparing these two popular SUVs

The article below presents a comparative analysis of two presentable SUVs: Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen and. For more than five years, both of these cars have delighted Russians with their quality and power. We will choose the best car that surpasses its rival in all respects.

Characteristic features of the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen

Probably not one modern car can't boast so much rich history, like the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen, which has been pleasing its consumers with a presentable design for 35 years appearance and beautiful technical characteristics. Many car enthusiasts say that this excellent car combines two completely different vehicles, one of which ideally copes with any, even the most difficult, off-road conditions, while at the same time characterizing itself as a durable and daring truck. The second side of the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen personifies the car as an arrogantly respectable VIP car that does not tolerate other leaders on the road and is not inferior to standard S-class cars in comfort and luxury. There is still no analogue of the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen in the world; it can rightfully be considered unique. It is difficult to imagine another plant that, like the Mercedes concern, has been hand-assembling cars with a utilitarian appearance for decades.

The G-Class has millions of fans

For more than one year, the presentable Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen, belonging to, has won the hearts of a multi-million army of fans. Even those who, due to their low income, will never be able to afford the purchase of this expensive “large-sized truck” admire the handsome Geländewagen. The Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen is one of the iconic cars, its popularity is enormous, as evidenced by the inability of the creator to stop producing this model. No matter how many times they started talking about stopping the creation of Geländewagen, the management of the concern postponed the implementation of the agreed upon decision.

And 2016, as it seemed to many, would be decisive for the car; some believed that its production would be completed, however, contrary to expectations, the Daimler Benz AG plant promises motorists to present a completely new restyled Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen model. Despite the fact that the manufacturer hides all innovations, most likely, a completely new vehicle will appear before people, which will have only a common name with its predecessors and the conservative appearance that has become familiar to many.

Quite recently, photographs of the new Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen appeared on the global network, as reliable sources, which are competent German auto publications, assure. In addition to the appearance, you can find out about the list of features that will be characteristic of the updated 2016 model.

Notable features of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200

It is not easy to compare the Land Cruiser 200 and Gelendvagen, since, as practice shows, the circle of admirers of these vehicles is very different. Some people need a heavy, massive “truck” that can easily overcome any off-road conditions, not to mention smooth city road surfaces (we are, of course, talking about the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen), while others need a comfortable roomy car for the whole family (for example, Toyota Land Cruiser 200).

This model is distinguished by its presentability

It is no secret that recently almost all car enthusiasts agree that the ideal car for the city is not a compact subcompact car, but a more serious “confident” car. Among such cars is the Toyota Land Cruiser 200, which has recently been producing several different limited editions. For example, the Brownstone version can attract potential consumers with black headlights, an identical radiator grille, and silver roof rails. Among the characteristic features of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200, it is worth noting the running board, which matches the new design and expensive leather trim.

2016 Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen updates

What hasn't changed in the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen for years is the body. It’s hard to even imagine how many innovations and modernizations the technical equipment and other elements of the car have undergone, because not a single restyled model has changed its appearance as a result.

The new Geländewagen body is no exception; the conservatism of the appearance, which has been traced over the years, does not scare away regular fans, especially since the manufacturer specifically focused on preserving the iconic appearance, so familiar and at the same time unique. IN new car any car owner will be able to see the angular, slightly “worn out” outer panels, the usual flat windows (both windshield and side), located, as always, at too slight an angle. The external door hinges and massive bumpers also remained in their usual places.

Despite the manufacturer’s conservatism, the updated body of the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen turned out to be quite interesting and somewhat unusual. If we look at it purely from a structural point of view, first of all, it is worth noting the integrated aluminum frame, which replaced the previous steel elements. In addition to the frame, some parts of the car frame were also replaced with aluminum units. An interesting fact is that such a move by the manufacturer not only improved external characteristics car, but at the same time reduced the curb weight of the body.

A distinctive feature of the new Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen 2016 is its spacious interior, which is only 1860 mm wide. The comfort of the interior space is determined by the width of the car at shoulder level, which is more than one and a half meters. Such dimensions will easily allow three passengers to sit in the back seat without unnecessary inconvenience and constraint. Despite the fact that in the updated version of the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen the body height has been slightly reduced, the ease of getting in and out has not changed at all; in addition, the lower center of gravity, together with the increased ground clearance, has a beneficial effect on the stability of the car as a whole.

Possible motor modifications

Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen, the best VIP version with the most powerful power unit equipped with 12 cylinders, as official representatives said, will not be produced in the near future. The updated car will be equipped with 6-cylinder engines with a volume of 3 liters. By the way, among the presented models you can choose either a gasoline version with an output of 367 hp, or a 2.9-liter turbodiesel unit, which will delight fans with the proven Commonrail system with an output of 315 hp. With.

The engine is powerful and has modifications

Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen is usually chosen by those who do not have enough power and traction in other vehicles; for lovers of impressively powerful engines, models with eight-cylinder engines are intended. These types of units amaze with their double turbocharging and their capabilities; with a working volume of 4 liters, the car has an output of 465 hp. and torque 600 Nm.

Some car enthusiasts prefer the Land Cruiser 200 to the Gelendvagen, since the latter does not have a 5.4-liter power unit with a compressor V8 and an output of 577 hp. Such indicators have long surpassed the capabilities of Formula 1 supercars operating in 1976 (the same year when the first Gelendvagen models rolled off the assembly line). Each of the engines described above meets the “bias” of Euro 5 requirements. Together with such units, the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen acquires an almost ideal nine-speed automatic transmission 9G-Tronic, which is controlled exclusively by the computer itself.

If we talk about the Toyota Land Cruiser 200, then diesel models have the advantage. Naturally, if desired, any interested car enthusiast can find official dealer cars with a gasoline power unit, but compared to one with a volume of 4.5 liters and an output of 235 hp. With. and a torque of 615 Nm (1800 rpm), the gasoline engine loses its advantage.

There are both petrol and diesel options

Toyota Land Cruiser 200 can please its owner with good dynamics. Weighing 2.6 tons, the car made of steel, leather and wood has a cunning “brains”. You can accelerate to 100 km/h quite quickly (8.9 seconds). Naturally, compared to other large crossovers in the same category, the performance is not the most excellent, however, it is worth understanding that the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is considered massive frame SUV, capable of accelerating to 210 km/h.

The fuel consumption of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is not the highest; even with a constantly functioning air conditioner, the owner of the vehicle will need only 14.4 liters per 100 km. When driving on the highway you need 10 liters of fuel. By the way, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 tank can hold 93 liters.

Features of the vehicle chassis

The Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen has traded in its three-link front suspension and solid axle for a quality adaptive four-link axle. The design of the new 2016 model is such that the car will acquire a more ideal steering gear with a built-in electric amplifier. The special feature of the Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen is that it has power steering and ABS on all wheels, four-wheel drive and PBS. All other details remain the same, this is typical for many components and systems.

Characteristic features of the interior space

Interior of Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen

It is very difficult to answer unequivocally: which is better Gelendvagen or Land Cruiser, since both models have a number of positive qualities and shortcomings. For example, in the new Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen, a potential buyer will not see much difference between the interior equipment and interior of the 2016 model and the earlier version of the car. The Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen is characterized by leather upholstery, decorative elements and panels made of natural wood and attractive polished aluminum. It’s hard to resist a powerful horse that has everything for a comfortable and most enjoyable ride on heated leather seats. The 2016 Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen has a multifunction steering device, which has a very presentable appearance thanks to leather and wood trim. Even biased critics note the unprecedented luxury of the interior equipment; at the same time, manufacturers promise to surprise their customers with an even more modern and newfangled GrandEdition, which in beauty can only be compared with S-category cars. Models that have gone beyond the boundaries of the production version are decorated with two-tone leather inserts on the chairs, elements made of Canadian ash and walnut.

The designers did their best

Toyota Land Cruiser 200 interior

The interior of the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is simple, comfortable and functional, apparently these are the indicators that prevent the creators from coming up with a more inviting interior. Internal equipment“Kruzak” has not changed for the last 9 years (since 2007), which is very noticeable to those who prefer to use new modern vehicles. The lack of updates is indicated by a multimedia device that could use an upgrade. Car owners note the presence of large pixels on the screen, a slightly slow response of the system and not the most logical interface. However, despite the lack of nanoelectronics, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 has a huge plus in the form of a small refrigerator located in the head armrest. Due to its small volume, the capacity of the refrigerator is designed for 4 liters of carbonated drink bottles, airbags. Along with everything else, the car has a chip key for starting, a DVD player, and a GSM phone. Not knowing where to choose: the Gelendwagen or the Land Cruiser 200, it’s worth paying attention to all the advantages that have appeared in the new 2016 Mercedes-Benz Geländewagen model. The updated car now has: LED centralized lighting, several new video cameras that help good review, parking sensors, several newfangled electronic systems, significantly simplifying car driving.

Ergonomics Toyota Land Cruiser 200

As mentioned above, the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 does not have the most modern electronics, in addition, the ergonomics also make a double impression. The driver's seat is located quite high, while the steering gear is located an order of magnitude lower. Each driver will have to adjust both parameters exclusively to himself, although there is no guarantee that the range of adjustments will be sufficient for people with below average height. Plus Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is equipped with quality JBL acoustics.

Spacious interior and trunk of the car

The second row of seats in the Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is surprisingly spacious and comfortable; four passengers can fit on the seats without undue constraint, although seat belts are provided for only three. In addition to the main seats, the TLC200 has two folding seats, which are better suited for children or short passengers, due to the proximity of the cushions to the floor.

Toyota Land Cruiser 200 is equipped with a number of cameras, which are located not only in the radiator grille, but also in the right mirror. Using installed cameras, the driver can see on the head screen a picture of everything that is an order of magnitude below the perimeter. The system can be easily and quickly configured; for example, it can turn on automatically if the car starts to move slower than 10 km/h.

Conclusion

A comparison of the Land Cruiser 200 and Gelendvagen showed that the latter car has much better ergonomics, incredibly modern functionality, newfangled electronics and a prestigious appearance. However, it cannot be said unequivocally that Geländewagen is in every way better Land Cruiser 200, since Kruzak has been successfully sold on the Russian market for many years. It is chosen as the main car for the city, especially since the LC200 is considered a high-quality functional car, which will receive another restyling in the near future.
