Lada Granta or Priora? What is better for the domestic consumer? Which option to choose: Priora Hatchback or Granta Hatchback? Lada Granta or Priora which is better

Choosing the best option

Lada cars are very popular among our compatriots today. This is due to the relatively low cost of cars and the availability of auto parts and components. At the peak of sales there are two models: Priora and Granta. If you definitely decide to buy a Lada, it will be quite difficult to choose between these two models.

The choice is complicated by the fact that Grants and Priora have much in common, although they are in different price categories. You should think about which is better after carefully studying the characteristics of both models. Therefore, we present you with a comparative analysis that will help you make a choice: Grant or its older brother Priora.

Characteristics of Lada Priora

This car is familiar to a large number of car enthusiasts under the symbol 2170. The model first appeared on the market 5 years ago, which is why it is quite famous and has already managed to gain fans. The Priora was assembled on the basis of the VAZ 110 and from the side it very much resembles the “ten”. The manufacturer's specialists claim that the assembly of this model contains more than 1,000 modified spare parts.

Everyone knows Priora

The hood, trunk, fenders and optics of the Priora are quite spectacular, especially if you take into account the year of its release. Everything looks harmonious and modern. 185-65-P14 tires are great for a quiet and comfortable ride. The Priora's interior was created for AvtoVAZ in Italy; it is comfortable and thought out almost to the smallest detail. The door trim has a huge number of details, however, after a while, a characteristic domestic cars door creaking.

Engine volume - 1.6 l, power - 98 l. With. Thanks to these characteristics, a speed of 100 km/h is reached in 11.5 seconds. At the moment, there are 2 configurations of the model available: “standard” and “luxury”. In the “norm”: power steering, central locking, computer, headlight range control, power windows, etc. In the “luxury”, in addition, there is air conditioning, ABC, EBD, airbag. These 2 trim levels also differ in appearance: the “luxury” version includes parking sensors, fog lights and alloy wheels.

We can conclude that the Lada Priora is an ergonomic car worthy of attention. It has everything that an experienced car enthusiast might like. Reviews about the model are more positive than negative.

Car features

I would like to say in advance that comparing these two cars will not be entirely correct: they were released with a difference of as much as 4 years.

The 2014 Grants model harmoniously continues the classic line. Many analysts believe that the design of the car is noticeably close to European automotive standards. Although Granta is based on Kalina, it differs significantly. New parts, of which there are more than 2000 in the car, are made of alloy steel.

The Grant is equipped with 3 types of engines: 80, 90 and 98 hp. With. Acceleration to 100 kilometers is carried out in 12 seconds. This figure is slightly higher than that of the Priora, but the advantage is the quiet operation of the engine, which is partly ensured by excellent sound insulation.

The interior design is completely European, comfort and silence are a definite plus. More recently, information appeared that AvtoVAZ plans to equip the Grant with automatic transmission, and this indicates a serious approach to the car. They are not going to install an automatic transmission on the Priora, since the model is not prepared for such modifications. Lada Granta is presented in three trim levels: “norm”, “standard” and “luxury”.

All of the above characteristics showed that the Granta looks much fresher and more powerful against its brother Priora, while we do not forget to take into account the difference in the years of manufacture. The cost of cars is also very noticeably different: the price of Priora starts from 330 thousand rubles, Lada Grants - from 259 thousand rubles. This begs the question: why is there such a discrepancy? The answer is obvious: the number of details in Grant has been significantly reduced. What is better, Grant, which is still considered “green,” or Priora, which has already proven its reliability? All of Priora’s problems and ways to solve them have long been known; it’s too early to say this about Grant.

It would be best to compare these two models in a few years, when Granta shows how reliable it is. Although, as the manufacturers say, both cars can boast of ease of maintenance and operation. It's up to you to choose Priora or its younger brother. At the moment, Granta looks more modern, and for many this means better.

If you pay close attention to the kind of cars that drive on our roads, you will notice that most of them are Lada Granta or Priora (except for Moscow, of course). These cars differ in both price and appearance, and each of them has its own pros and cons. The purpose of today’s article is to help the buyer choose between them and answer the question “which is better, Grant or Priora?”

The prototype for this car was an outdated Lada Kalina. The new car received an engine equipped with sound insulation, as well as a more modern design that meets all European standards. Among other things, the grant contains a fairly spacious trunk, the volume of which reaches 500 liters. However, if you fold the rear sofa on the Prior, you can get not 400, but 700 liters, but at a detriment for the rear passengers.

This car is most suitable for middle-aged people or retirees, as it cannot boast of impressive speed characteristics. In addition, there were complaints among drivers that the controls were too sensitive, which took a long time to get used to.

However, the Granta can also be equipped with a 16-valve engine, which is so famous among car enthusiasts. This equipment costs noticeably more, and is also inconvenient to use, since the volume of the engine compartment of this car is very small.

Priora is a continuation of the VAZ 2110 car, and accordingly, it was created entirely on its basis. Naturally, the car inherited many qualities from its predecessor. Priora has good handling and a fairly powerful engine, which allow it to perform well on the track.

Among the shortcomings of the car are very poor cross-country ability and, like the tenth model, very questionable build quality. Priora is in good demand among young people.

Design

Perhaps, in terms of appearance, Grant wins, which has more modern body features and makes this VAZ model revolutionary, which puts it on the same level as all foreign cars. Priora, on the other hand, does not have the necessary streamlining and has the same primitive design. Although if we're talking about O new Priora, then you can argue here, since it received a new front end. In general, this is, of course, a matter of taste.

If we judge the convenience, then the Granta also wins here, since it has smaller dimensions, which is convenient in cramped urban conditions.

If we talk about the modernity of the interior, then the Priora is much more familiar to most Russian drivers, since it has much more space and the same familiar dashboard with the necessary functionality. The Granta is assembled with an emphasis on European design, which is confirmed by the special shape of the dashboard and different ergonomics of the instruments. In addition, the Granta’s interior is designed much more competently in terms of the appearance of “extraneous” sounds.

Power point

The Granta is more suitable for city driving, since its fuel consumption on the highway is noticeably higher. This is an interesting and inexplicable feature, since the engines of these cars are exactly the same. Priora wins on the track, both in terms of dynamic performance and consumption.

The Granta gearbox is far superior to its competitor, as it uses short-throw shifters, which reduce the likelihood of crunching and reduce gear shifting time. In addition, there is a package in which it is equipped automatic transmission gears, which the Lada Priora clearly cannot boast of.

Lada Granta is equipped with more modern suspension, which makes the car much softer and more comfortable, but the principle of its operation remains the same.

As you already understand, Grant has significantly more advantages than Priora. However, in this case, the “new” VAZ may turn out to be a surprise, since all its factory defects have not yet been discovered, but the Priora has become time-tested, which makes it much predictable.

We hope this article will help you right choice and you can easily determine which is better, grant or prior.

Video on the topic

As for these two domestic cars, they are chosen primarily for the reason that their cost is much lower than most of their analogues produced abroad. It has already been sufficiently given that everyone knows that AvtoVAZ cars are considered good, affordable and high-quality work cars that can be used for small families and running a business. It is worth highlighting the fact that cars of this production are actively used in government agencies of various kinds.

There are two cars in approximately the same category domestic production, And . Not every person, even those actively interested in the domestic automobile industry, will be able to answer the question of which car is better. It is for this reason that in order to make a high-quality, correct and reliable verdict, it is necessary to thoroughly study each component of the car.

Starting positions and characteristics

Lada Priora, by the way, is a family car that has been produced for quite a long time. To put it in more precise numbers, the car appeared on the domestic market back in 2007. This model replaced the retired VAZ 2110. In 2013, the Priora was almost completely redesigned. Thanks to this, several cars appeared at once, with various types bodies.

  1. The very first model was released as a sedan, back in 2007.
  2. Next came a car with a hatchback body, which appeared in 2008.
  3. A universal body type, appeared at Priora in 2009.
  4. The coupe body, which appeared in 2010, is extremely popular to this day.

If we talk about the age of the model, then in this case there is one undeniable advantage. The fact is that the car has been produced for quite a long time, which means that quite a lot has been redesigned over the years. The latest re-release of the car showed that there are practically no significant shortcomings in the work of the Priora.

Russian sedan

From a technical point of view, the car is constantly being modernized and improved in all respects. It is for this reason that you should purchase new car, which would cause serious troubles in technical terms, are reduced to zero. Moreover, the car is equipped with all the latest technologies and systems that do not allow it to lag behind the new products in this regard. Priora shows quite a decent result in this regard.

As for the Lada Granta, no less well-known to domestic buyers, it came to the market in order to replace the already significantly outdated VAZ 2105 and VAZ 2107. It was this car that brought a breath of fresh air to the domestic automobile market. During its existence of this car, he became the owner of two different bodies.

  1. The sedan body was the very first, and it appeared in 2011.
  2. After this, a car with a liftback body appeared in 2012.

Comparative test drives

In order to get an accurate answer to the question of what the old Priora can offer, the much more recent and updated Grante, it is necessary to compare cars in each position. The main parameters have always been the length, width and height of the car, as well as the size of the wheelbase. In this case, as expected, Priora comes out ahead, with a body length of 4 meters 35 centimeters and a wheelbase of 2 meters 49.2 centimeters. For Granta these figures are much lower. In this case, the length of the car was 4 meters 26 centimeters, and the wheelbase was 2 meters 47.6 centimeters.

Despite the fact that the Granta has a much shorter car length, it was able to provide exactly the same amount of space for rear passengers as the Priora. Due to the fact that Granta has a much more advanced architectural structure, it can also transport small-sized cargo. Grant's sedan car has a luggage compartment of 480 liters, but the Priora can boast only 430 liters of free space. The situation looks the same with the five-door hatchback, since the wheelbase in this case remains unchanged.

  • The length of the Lada Priora is 4 meters 21 centimeters.
  • Luggage compartment – 360 liters.
  • The length of the Lada Granta is 4 meters 24.6 centimeters.
  • Luggage compartment – 440 liters.

Judging solely by the dimensions and spatial features, then in this case, the newer car model looks much more attractive. Father-in-law, Granta outperforms Priora in all respects. Among other things, Granta has a much more unusual and interesting appearance.

Despite all this, Priora is not even going to give up. After all, this car has one hidden ace up its sleeve, in the form of a station wagon, which the Granta simply does not have. The luggage compartment in this case already has an indicator of 444 liters. In addition, it is possible to fold rear seats and increase this figure to 777 liters of free space. This is simply an ideal option for people who often need to transport small-sized cargo, and who often travel to the countryside or to nature. Unfortunately, it cannot offer such a grant to its buyer.

As for the 3-door coupe car, this option also has its fans and admirers. This great option, for people who love unusual style in cars.

Strength parameters and aesthetic data

Over the past few years, AvtoVAZ has released several updates for its cars. It cannot be said that in technical terms there is direct significant diversity, but the situation in this regard has at least moved forward. Granta uses gasoline engines 1.6 liters, which have two and four valves on the cylinders. The power of such cars was 81 and 120 horsepower. The hatchback will not have the opportunity to use the most powerful engine available. It is also possible to choose a car with a manual or automatic transmission.

The car is capable of accelerating to 100 kilometers per hour in 9.5 seconds on the most powerful engine option, and in 13.5 seconds on a car running at 81 horsepower. As for the Priora, relatively recently, it acquired another type of engine. A much more powerful 1.8-liter analogue has the ability to accelerate the hatchback to 100 kilometers per hour in 10 seconds. The torque in this case is 165 Nm. Thanks to this, the engine with a power of 123 horsepower can feel quite playful on the road. In some situations, previously there was an extreme lack of traction for a comfortable ride.

Without a doubt, you should choose a car based on overall performance. Therefore, in this case, it is necessary to weigh all the disadvantages and advantages of each car.

As for Granta, she looks much more rude and unaesthetic in appearance. Most of the complaints were precisely about rear view a car where the trunk looks like a completely foreign body. However, the situation was significantly improved by Granta liftback. There is already a much more interesting and high-quality interior, and there is also the opportunity to choose several equipment options.

If we talk about the Priora station wagon and hatchback, they look great. This is a fairly practical car option that does not have exaggerated lines or other unusual elements. One could say that this is timeless classic.

Pricing policy

Before making final conclusions, it is imperative to familiarize yourself with this component.

  1. The Priora can be used as a work car, it exists in a wide variety of modifications and is sold at different prices:
  • Hatchback – 350 thousand rubles.
  • Sedan – 335 thousand rubles.
  • Station wagon – 375 thousand rubles.

Richer versions of cars will cost much more.

  1. Granta is a much more modern model of a class B car, it costs as much:
  • The most cheap version cars with a 1.6 liter engine and 82 horsepower, will cost 289 thousand rubles.
  • Top equipment – 420 thousand rubles.
  • Sports version – 482 thousand rubles.

Those people who are looking for a car for family trips will definitely choose Priora. However, if you want to get more comfort while driving, then you should pay attention to the Grant. In any case, these two cars look pretty good.

Recently, more and more car owners prefer Lada cars. The leading position in sales of this concern is occupied by. Moreover, those who plan to purchase a domestic car cannot decide on a specific model for a long time. Priora or Grant, what should you buy?

It is difficult to answer this question unequivocally, although these two “brainchildren” of the Lada are in different price categories, they have many common features and characteristics, and this makes the choice even more difficult.

Many people wonder what caused such love for the Russian automobile industry. But here everything is simple, this is due to the low price of “iron horses” and the available components for them. More and more people prefer to have new car, albeit domestically produced, than a used foreign car. Why this happens is not difficult to explain. Buy good quality hard. Basically, all the cars were repaired after serious accidents, and no one wants to take a pig in a poke.

But how to determine the winner in the battle between Priora and Grant? To do this, it is necessary to carry out a comparative analysis of cars in all positions; this approach will help you decide when purchasing.

Granta vs Priora: comparing external and internal appearance

The first thing we pay attention to before buying a car is its external and internal appearance. And if, for example, we compare the model with imported ones vehicles, then the interior and exterior of domestic cars will be strikingly inferior, looking poorer and more boring.

If we ignore foreign cars and talk about each car specifically, then the Granta has a more modern body and attractive design than its competitor Lada Priora. Moreover, Priora in basic configuration costs significantly more than its rival. Therefore, in the fight between Priora and Granta, the latter wins in terms of appearance and interior design. And one more plus in favor of Granta - in 2014, the car began to be produced in a liftback body (before that it was only a sedan). This version of the car looks very presentable and modern. If you don’t see the Lada nameplate, then the Granta liftback may well pass for a “foreigner”. The Priora is available in sedan, station wagon and hatchback body styles, but the cars do not look as impressive as the Granta liftback.

The appearance of the body is the first thing the buyer pays attention to

In 2014, Lada Priora underwent restyling. True, the body has not changed radically. Lada Priora 2014 differs from the previous version with an updated bumper, radiator grille and modified headlights. The car was also equipped with new LED brake lights and rear lights.

But inside the Lada Priora 2014 has changed dramatically. The front panel attracts with its updated design, and in expensive Priora trim levels you can see cruise control and modern technology.

The backrest tilt mechanism in the Lada Priora 2014 has also been improved; it now functions smoothly and clearly, like in the Grant. The Priora's seat heating system has become three-mode. Plastic covers appeared under the seats to cover the free space. In general, the Priora has changed a lot on the inside, but on the outside - so-so. And here it’s up to you to decide whether you agree to overpay a very decent amount for the interior decoration of the cabin.

Comparing technical specifications

In addition to attractive appearance And inexpensive prices, every car owner pays attention to various characteristics engine. If we return to the confrontation between Grant and Priora, both cars are equipped with almost identical engines. The difference will vary slightly depending on the selected configuration. According to experts, the Granta's gearbox is better than that of its competitor Priora. The Granta is currently available with an updated manual transmission, which is many times better than the previous one. Switching speeds is now much more convenient, and the vibration that was present before has disappeared.

The amount of gasoline that one and another car consumes with the same technical characteristics is not particularly different. Since 2014, Priora has been produced with robotic box gears, like Grant. True, the cost of a Priora with such a box will be about 500 thousand rubles, but that’s not what we’re talking about now.

In terms of suspension quality, the Granda and the updated Priora are almost equal

Both “brainchildren” of the Lada concern can boast of a reliable suspension. And if first in a duel between machines ride quality clearly defeated Grant, then after 2014, when Priora underwent a number of changes, they were almost equal.

But, to the sadness of many car owners, all the changes that happened to the Priora in 2014 did not add power to the car; this car is not for racing. Its potential powers are 98 and 106 hp. but the Granta has a sport modification, and it already has 118 “horses” under the hood. Some will say that this is also not enough, but reviews from owners say otherwise. The car with sports filling is very playful.

Lada Granta or Priora: equipment and price

Of course, everyone wants to have a reliable and modern car equipped with a powerful engine, but you shouldn’t forget about the cost of the car. So, the cheapest Priora model in the basic configuration, regardless of the body, will cost approximately the same as (liftback) in the luxury configuration. Of course, not the most equipped one, but still a luxury one.

To make it easier to decide, Priora or Lada Granta, let’s look at each car separately. So, Priora - this model is very ergonomic and on a five-point scale can get a solid four. The car is very loved by the younger generation, who happily tune the Priora, remaking it “to suit themselves.”

Production of this vehicle began in 2007; in 2014, restyling was carried out, which, as already mentioned, did not particularly change the appearance, but added technical characteristics and interior. The most important improvement in Priora 2014 is the struts, which in the previous version simply fell apart. This was a huge disadvantage of the car. Overall, the model is very good and is in good demand among buyers. The vehicle is presented in two trim levels: standard and luxury, which differ in the presence of additional functions.

Lada Granta began production in 2011. It immediately attracted the interest of many buyers with its attractive design and low price. The machine is equipped with a fairly quiet engine and a modern sound insulation system. The interior is not particularly chic, but is quite comfortable while driving. The model rolled off the assembly line in 2011; in 2014, in addition to the sedan, a liftback was also released. Granta is available in three trim levels: standard, norm and luxury. The cheapest and “emptiest” car will cost the buyer a little more than 300 thousand rubles.

If we talk about safety, then Granta coped well with European crash tests. Of course, the car has its drawbacks, but in general this model can be called successful. And if we compare the very first cars of this model and those that began to roll off the assembly line in 2014 after a minor restyling, the quality has increased noticeably.

So which car is better?

The differences between the cars are insignificant and the Grant's winnings are more likely related to the year of its release

Of course, each person chooses a car according to his taste and pocket. But taking into account all the characteristics described above, the Grant wins several points over the Priora, if only because the former is more modern than its competitor. Even the fact that Priora was updated in 2014 does not really save it. By the way, there is information that 2015 is the last year that the Priora will be released; it should be replaced by a completely new model.

In addition to appearance and technical characteristics, Granta is cheaper than its competitor. This is also due to the fact that fewer parts are used during its assembly.

But Priora also has undoubted advantages. This machine showed excellent performance in operation. The problems and “sores” of the model have long been known; there is no need to expect any surprises when purchasing it. Granta, although not as “raw” as a couple of years ago, can still unpleasantly surprise its owner.

Therefore, it is the buyer’s prerogative to decide which is better - Grant or Priora. Weigh all the pros and cons of each model, sit in them, evaluate the trunk volume, interior, technical specifications. If you listen to the opinions of experts, there is no significant difference between the two vehicles. When choosing, rely on the available funds and your own preferences. Good luck with your choice!

Which is preferable or which is better - Priora or Grant?

For those who are looking for an inexpensive and new car, the creations of AvtoVAZ come to mind first. Although domestic automobile concern gradually switches to the production of more comfortable and expensive models that can compete with foreign cars, choice budget options still wide. In principle, this is quite reasonable - their price is low, there are no problems with spare parts, the technical characteristics are generally at the same level, they do not sag too much in comparison with Chinese cars, and even surpass them.

However, a dilemma often arises between the two models. So which is better - Grant or Priora? This issue needs to be dealt with.

Prestige

Of course, it is a little strange to talk about this in the light of such a comparison, but it is worth recognizing that among young people (especially boys) Priora is rated much higher than Granta. It even earned the status of a kind of “boy’s” car. Still, the Lada Granta is aimed primarily at the older generation, whose representatives do not pay much attention. This means that in this round victory remains with Priora.

Body range and dimensions

And in this regard, Granta is a clear favorite, because it can be chosen both as a sedan and as a liftback, while the Priora buyer will have to be content with a non-alternative 5-door sedan.

If we compare the parameters of competitors, it is noticeable that Priora is superior to its counterpart in length, but Granta wins back in width and height. Wheelbase The Priora has larger ones, however, the front and rear tracks are narrower, and the trunk is noticeably smaller. A clear comparison of the parameters is presented in the table:

Dimensions/Model Lada Priora (sedan) LADA Granta(sedan)
Length 4 350 mm 4 260 mm
Height 1 420 mm 1 500 mm
Width 1,680 mm 1,700 mm
Wheelbase 2,492 mm 2,476 mm
Front wheel track 1 410 mm 1,430 mm
Rear wheel track 1 380 mm 1,414 mm
Clearance 165 mm 160 (145) mm
Trunk volume 430 l 520 l

It is worth mentioning separately ground clearance. At first glance, the cars are almost equal, because the difference is only 5 mm in favor of the Priora. However, this is only true when comparing both rivals with mechanical boxes gears and robot. If the Granta is equipped with a classic automatic transmission, then it sags noticeably, since its ground clearance is reduced to only 145 mm. In light of this, we can admit that in terms of dimensions there is a fighting draw.

Exterior

Everything here is subjective. It is noticeable that Priora was created back in the first decade of the 21st century, when the Lancer IX models were taken as an example, KIA Ceed and others. This left its mark.

The Priora has convex headlight optics, a massive sloping hood and a simple bumper. In addition, the front end is decorated with tiny round foglights and a trapezoidal radiator grille with chrome trim.

In profile, large doors and long body overhangs are immediately noticeable, and the glass area is impressive. In addition, the entire sidewall is crossed by a long stamping line. But there are no plastic moldings. The rear is not bad - a smooth bumper, high feet, a massive trunk lid with a shiny lining. Not too bland, but nothing flashy either.

Lada Granta is made in a more modern style, but its appearance is frankly boring. It is noticeable that the designers set out to create a kind of “universal” model. From the front it stands out with large headlights, a radiator grille and an air intake, which, in fact, occupy the entire front. And the composition is completed by a large hood and round fog lights.

On the side there are similar body overhangs, as well as plastic trim on the doors, painted black. Yes and side windows no less than that of Priora. From behind, a huge trunk lid with a pair of “claw-shaped” stampings catches your eye. And the fact that the license plate is set to rear bumper, only enhances the impression.

Specifications

Engines

Lada Priora boasts a pair of engines, while its counterpart has 3 engines. In many ways these power units they are similar - they have an atmospheric design, an injector, an in-line arrangement of 4 cylinders and a transverse arrangement in the engine compartment.

For Priora and Granta, the list opens with an 8-valve petrol engine with a volume of 1.6 liters. The power is frankly low and amounts to 87 hp. s., which are achieved at around 5,100 rpm. However, good torque helps out, which is not only equal to 140 Nm, but is already available at 3,800 rpm. The consumption of the models is identical and quite acceptable - 9.0/7.0/5.8 liters. With such characteristics, Priora accelerates to hundreds in a quite respectable 12.5 seconds, giving a maximum of 176 km/h. The maximum speed of the Grants is noticeably less (167 km/h), but the dynamics are slightly better - 12.2 seconds.

There is one more common motor. It was now a 16-valve engine, also with a volume of 1.6 liters. Its power is noticeably greater and reaches 106 horses at 5,800 rpm, but the thrust has increased slightly, stopping at 148 “newtons” at 4,200 rpm. Fuel consumption is almost the same. For the Priora it is 8.9/6.8/5.6, while for the Grant it is 8.6/6.7/5.6. Regarding dynamics, the Priora goes from 0 to 100 km/h in 11.5 seconds, reaching a top speed of 183 km/h. Results Grants – 10.9 sec. and 183 km/h. However, this is true for versions with manual transmission5. With AMT5 the Granta’s performance is worse – 12.3 seconds. and 180 km/h, supplemented by an appetite of 9.0/6.6/5.2 liters.

But the round remains with Granta, since she has another unit in her stash - a 1.6-liter, 98-horsepower 16-valve engine. Its peak output is at 5,600 rpm, and the maximum torque of 145 Nm is achievable at 4,000 rpm. However, due to aggregation exclusively with AT4, the results are average - 13.3 seconds. up to a hundred, top speed at 173 km/h and appetite at 9.9/7.6/6.1 l.

Gearboxes

This is a complete victory for Grant. After all, Priora can only offer a 5-speed manual transmission, which its rival also has. Overall the box is not bad. However, while driving, many people note discomfort - the lever vibrates, the gears are not always engaged clearly, to the point that their gearshift knob literally has to be driven into the groove. Yes, and speed fluctuations sometimes happen.

However, in addition to the “handle”, LADA Granta also has a classic 4-band from JATCO (model JF414E) for a 98-horsepower engine, as well as a 5-speed robot type AMT 2182 of domestic production. Of course, with such transmissions the dynamics are a little worse and the consumption is higher, but these gearboxes are quite at the level of their competitors, which are sold at about the same price, and most importantly, they make it possible to forget about constant switching, which is more than important in big cities.

Chassis

The chassis layout of the models is the same. This is a standard semi-independent design for this segment, with a torsion beam on the rear axle and MacPherson struts on the front. Disc in front and drum in back. Of course, the suspension of both models cannot be called driver-grade, but its energy intensity is high, which, coupled with good ground clearance (like some crossovers), makes both cars ideal for country (and not only) roads.

Interior

Of course, interior design is a subjective matter, but the majority speaks out in favor of the Priora. After the restyling, the sedan's interior was noticeably fresher. It is made in a classic style, with a touch of sportiness.

A sweeping 3-spoke steering wheel rises in front of the driver, behind which an elegant dashboard with convenient scales recessed into small wells is visible. All the option control keys are concentrated on the rectangular center console, although they are located quite low, especially the dial controls for temperature and air flow. However, this is a consequence of the large display and air deflectors, which took up almost half of the entire space. The entire dashboard is made of plain dark plastic.

The seats are not bad, but they clearly lack lateral support, which makes it difficult to control the car in sharp turns. Visibility is good, although the wide A-pillars limit the sector. There is quite enough space in the back, and the trunk is not the smallest.

In Grant, things are a little different. Dashboard It’s perfectly legible, but it looks much simpler, and the center console, rounded at the bottom, is not so elegant, and round air deflectors are placed along the top of the dashboard, like rocket nozzles. On the other hand, its ergonomics are better thought out and the lower controls are not blocked by the gearshift lever, as in Priora. There is a spacious niche above the glove box. The steering wheel is almost the same as that of the Priora, and so is the black finishing plastic.

With visibility, things are about the same as with the seats. It’s quite comfortable in the back, but the Granta’s trunk is significantly larger – by 90 liters.

Equipment

The models have approximately the same configurations. The only difference is that in the basic Standard configuration the Granta has only one airbag, EBD systems, ABS and BAS, DRL, and audio preparation. Priora in the Standard version additionally has an eyeglass case, on-board computer, armrest, electric power steering and handles painted to match the body color. Moreover, the price is almost the same - Granta costs 383,900 rubles, and Priora is sold for 389,000 rubles. Such equipment as the Priora (slightly better) in Grant can only be obtained in the Norma / Classic version, which costs RUB 419,600.

As the cost increases, technical indicators increase, and the equipment becomes richer - air conditioning, heated seats, heated and electrically adjustable mirrors, an armrest in the rear sofa and other options appear.

In the top, the price for Priora reaches 491,000 rubles, while for Grants it is equal to 541,400 rubles. However, the difference of 50,000 rubles, taking into account approximately the same technical data, is quite justified, since the LADA Granta has a multimedia complex with a 7-inch TouchScreen display, Bluetooth, parking sensors, an airbag for the passenger, light and rain sensors that are completely unavailable to competitors and other options.

As you can see, the choice between Lada Priora and Lada Granta is not so simple, but not too complicated either. Considering the almost identical characteristics of the engines (except for the 98-horsepower), the only question that remains is the transmission, since fans of automatic transmissions will have to choose only the Grant. Its price is slightly higher, however, given the presence of an automatic transmission, a robot and more generous equipment, the difference is quite justified.
