When to change the timing belt on Matiz 1.0. Replacing the Daewoo Matiz timing belt yourself: instructions, photos and videos. Why is it important to align the timing marks?

Replacing the timing drive with Daewoo Matiz 0.8 must be produced within the time limits regulated by the car manufacturer. To do this, you can make a visit to the service center, where the repairs will be carried out by professionals. But you can replace the timing belt yourself, if you have the desire to do so. This article will be of interest to those who want to do everything themselves, without additional expenses for specialists. Here we will talk about how to replace this consumable yourself.

The timing belt drive is a rim made of rubber with teeth inside it. With their help, the belt drive engages with the gears. The main purpose of the belt is to synchronize the operation of the shafts. The belt must be made of high quality material. Cheap consumables quickly fail, which is fraught with quite serious consequences for the condition of the car.

Regulations

It is necessary to periodically inspect the condition of the belt. If this is not done, the consumable may break. This is already a serious reason to overhaul the car. If the belt breaks, the valves will meet the pistons. Not only will they suffer from this, but also the cylinders. The manufacturer of Daewoo Matiz says that replacing the timing gear will become necessary after 60,000 km. Premature failure of the belt drive, however, cannot be ruled out either. The belt may wear out its service life ahead of schedule, and there may be several reasons for this. Not all of us always follow the driving rules and drive only at a certain speed. Extreme driving is the hobby of many, many modern drivers, but excessive loads on the engine will certainly cause premature belt wear. The weather conditions in which we operate the car also often leave much to be desired. This also does not have a positive effect on the condition of the belt. These and some other factors may cause the belt to be replaced before the time specified by the manufacturer.

Therefore, look under the hood of your car as often as possible to detect belt wear at an early stage.

But what signs can indicate that the belt drive has already exhausted its service life, and it is high time to change it:

  • the structure of the belt began to crack, breaks and deep scratches appeared on it;
  • the ends became damp;
  • the fabric began to delaminate;
  • the surface was covered with oil stains.

If these and some other defects are detected, the timing belt drive needs to be changed. If this is not done, then you will have to pay a considerable amount to repair your car.

Replacing the belt drive yourself

Let's first decide what we will definitely need when carrying out this procedure:

  • set of horn keys;
  • screwdrivers with different tips;
  • jack;
  • new belt;
  • new o-rings;
  • oil seals;
  • Don't forget about rags.

A new belt should only be purchased from trusted stores. A low-quality consumable will fail early and will have to be replaced with a new one again.

1. So, let's start the repair and first of all dismantle the right front wheel. Then disconnect the left terminal from the battery. This way we de-energize the car, completely protecting ourselves.
2. In order to remove the protective housing, we will have to unscrew 2 bolts. We do this and remove the casing.
3. Now we have access to the belts, and we begin to dismantle the hanging belts. To remove the strap, we will have to move the generator to the side, having first unscrewed the mounting bolt.
4. Remove the power steering belt. To do this you will have to unscrew 3 bolts.
5. At the distribution and crankshaft we should set the top dead center.

6. Now you need to remove the oil level dipstick.
7. Unscrew the crankshaft mounting bolt and remove it along with the pulley. In this case, the crankshaft should be in a fixed position. To fix it, you can use a large screwdriver.
8. Remove the housing and gain access to the timing belt.
9. Now you need to loosen the tension roller. Then the old belt can be removed, holding the roller from turning.
10. Then we proceed to removing the crankshaft pulley.
11. The tension roller is dismantled along with the tension spring.
12. If any defects are found in the oil pump o-ring, it will also need to be replaced.
13. Now we place marks on the oil pump and crankshaft pulley.
14. We also set marks on the oil pump and camshaft pulley.

15. Now the tension roller can be installed in its place. Once installed, it should be moved to the side for now so that it does not interfere with the installation process of the belt.
16. Put on the timing belt.
17. Check that the marks match by turning the crankshaft pulley to the right 2 turns.
18. Tighten the tension roller bolt until it stops.
19. The remaining units must be assembled in reverse order.

Car maintenance requires periodic replacement of the timing belt. On Daewoo car The Matiz manufacturer recommends performing this operation every 60 thousand kilometers or every 6 years of operation. However, not all drivers adhere to these recommendations, waiting until the moment when the belt simply breaks.

Most often, timing belt wear manifests itself in the presence of suspicious sounds from the engine compartment, intermittent operation of the engine, or when the engine stalls and does not start. In addition to physical damage to the belt, it may become oiled with the same “symptoms”.

Before you get started, you need to prepare a set of open-end wrenches, as well as several corresponding sockets, a straight-blade screwdriver and a Phillips screwdriver (Phillips). It is best to drive the car onto an overpass or pit.

Before you replace a worn part, you need to gain access to it. So, after placing the car on the overpass, remove the fender liner related to the arch of the right front wheel. Next we can work with the upper timing cover, which can be accessed from under the hood. It is held on by four screws that will need to be unscrewed using wrench tenth size. Three screws are located within sight, and the fourth can be reached from the opposite part of the body.

Now you can remove the upper timing cover. Turn the crankshaft slightly clockwise. This way we can inspect the belt and see if there are any defects on it. Having found any abrasions (these may be small cracks that are easy to detect when turning the belt), we begin to replace it. If everything is in order and there is no oil on the belt, you can install the timing cover back.

This is what a tensioned and undamaged timing belt looks like

The piston of the first cylinder is installed at TDC. Next, remove the oil level dipstick. After this, it is necessary to remove the drive belt from the pump in cars with power steering, if one is present (typical only for some trim levels). Now we can remove the drive belt associated with the generator.

Carefully unscrew the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt. It is important to remember that a screwdriver or other suitable object is used to secure the crankshaft from possible rotation. It is inserted into the appropriate place located in the rear of the clutch housing.

After this, we will need to remove the pulley and also unscrew the bolt with which it is secured. It holds the oil dipstick guide tube bracket. Now this very tube will need to be removed. This requires little effort, as you can overdo it and damage it.

Unscrew the 3 bolts that secure the lower timing case cover. As a result, we can dismantle the rear timing cover, allowing full access to the gas distribution mechanism.

Slightly unscrew the mounting bolt holding the tension roller so that you can later remove the timing belt. Rotate this tension roller in relation to the mounting bolt. Be prepared that this will be quite difficult to do due to the small resistance of the spring connected to it.

Hold the rollers and tighten the bolt thoroughly. After this, you can easily remove the belt, both from the toothed pulley and from the nearby tension roller. Just pull it a little towards you and lift it up. The old belt has been removed.

Remove the valve cover and timing belt cover from the engine

Installing a new belt

In order to install a new belt, you will need to completely remove the toothed pulley from the crankshaft toe. Now you can remove the tension roller spring, which is located on the head of the pump screw that pumps the coolant. We unscrew the fastening bolt holding the tension roller and remove the said roller complete with its spring.

Please note that if you hear noise when spinning the roller, it will also need to be replaced. In addition, in the opening of the oil pump housing, which relates to the guide tube (it indicates the oil level), find the O-ring. Examine it carefully for defects. If you notice any problems with it, the ring will also need to be replaced.

Next, check the marks on the camshaft pulley and in the rear timing belt cover. They must match. Also, you will need to install the crankshaft timing pulley with the oil pump casing according to its own marks.

After calibration is completed, we begin assembly, which is an exact copy of disassembly, only in reverse order. All of the above applies to such an action as replacing the timing belt on a Matiz car with an engine capacity of 0.8 liters.

Make sure the new belt is installed correctly

Important Notes

When working, do not allow the crankshaft and distribution mechanism to rotate. We are only talking about significant rotation when the timing belt is removed. Otherwise, it may damage the timing belt. The characteristics of the timing belt indicate that it has a width of 25 mm, and the number of teeth on it is 107. It should be changed only if there is damage or after the period specified by the manufacturer has expired.

Changing the timing belt on Daewoo Matiz 0.8 F8CV

(votes: 2, average: 5.00 out of 5)

We have been waiting for this for a long time and finally it came to us, we meet the three-cylinder beast Daewoo Matiz, replacing the timing belt and roller. The engine capacity is 0.8 liters, the speedometer shows almost 40,000. Since the car was just purchased, the owner decided to play it safe and rightly so, because no one can guarantee that the speedometer is the same as in real life.

There is very little space under the hood and that is the only problem. To replace the timing belt we will need three heads for 10, 12, 17 and the same keys. Straight arms, a keen eye and about two hours of free time will also come in handy.

First, let's examine the beast. It seems to me that the designers based it on some Japanese cartoon character.

We remove everything unnecessary

To get to the timing belt we will need to remove two belts, the generator and the power steering with air conditioning. First, loosen the two twelve bolts securing the power steering pump. One at the back.

One in front.

Move the pump to the cylinder block and remove the belt. Next, loosen the two lower bolts of the generator.

And one on top.

We also move the generator towards the block and remove the belt. Next, remove the upper timing belt cover by unscrewing the four bolts. It will not be easy to unscrew the lower left one, since the hoses are in the way and there is very little space, I remembered the mother of all Uzbeks three times while unscrewing it.

Set the top dead center. Turn the crankshaft clockwise until the marks on the camshaft sprocket and the protective casing match.

The marks on the lower timing belt casing and the crankshaft pulley should also match. For ease of perception, it is shown on the removed parts.

Unscrew the crankshaft pulley. To block the engine, we engage fifth gear, tighten the handbrake all the way, put stops under two wheels and, with a slight movement of a one and a half meter lever, tear off the bolt. Turn off the speed. Afterwards, the mark on the camshaft pulley may run away a little; it must be set again.

Remove the crankshaft pulley. To remove the lower timing belt cover, it is necessary to remove the oil dipstick, as it interferes with unscrewing one of the bolts. We unscrew one bolt of the dipstick, take it out, then unscrew the four protective covers and remove it.

We remove the timing belt by unscrewing and removing the tension roller along with the spring.

There is also a mark on the crankshaft sprockets; it should coincide with the low pressure of the oil pump.

Let's check all the marks again. We put the tension roller in place together with the spring, put the guide pin into the hole, and do not install the bolt yet, this will give us the opportunity to pull the roller further when installing a new belt. We first put the new timing belt on the camshaft sprocket and secure it with a plastic clamp so that it does not slip off in the future. Don't forget about the direction of rotation on the belt.

Next, we put it on the crankshaft sprocket and make sure that the right branch of the belt is tensioned, then on the tension roller and pump. We install the tension roller bolt, do not tighten it. A few degrees, without much effort, we turn the camshaft counterclockwise, thereby slightly tensioning the right branch of the belt. We check with our hands whether the spring has tensioned the tension roller, try to move it towards the belt, and then tighten the roller. Remove the clamp and turn the crankshaft two turns. We check the marks and tension of the belt, try to turn it ninety degrees with two fingers, if it turns more, then it is necessary to tighten the timing belt. If everything matches and the tension is normal, install all the parts in the reverse order of removal. Well, if not, we repeat everything from the beginning.

Attention! When replacing the timing belt on a Daewoo Matiz, more than one auto technician was not injured, all the tricks were performed by professionals, you can repeat them!

How to change the timing belt on Daewoo Matiz

You will need

  • - a set of keys;
  • - screwdrivers;
  • - chisel;
  • - timing belt and roller.

Instructions

Prepare the car for repairs. It is advisable to change the timing belt on an inspection pit, lift, or overpass. First, remove the wing from the front arch. The dimensions of the car are so small that the engine and all attachments are packed very tightly under the hood. Therefore, it is more convenient to carry out repairs with the wing removed. Now, using a 10mm wrench, unscrew the four bolts that secure the top cover to the block. After this, remove the cover.

Examine the belt by turning the crankshaft clockwise. Check to see if the edge of the belt is eaten away. If it has even wear, it is slipping and catching on the roller. The cause of the belt slipping is usually the pump. The bearing in it fails, play appears, causing the pump pulley to tilt slightly to the side. It is advisable that when replacing the timing belt, the pump is also replaced. This will save you from too frequent repairs to the timing belt assembly.

Remove the dipstick that controls the oil level. Then set the piston of the first cylinder to top dead center. There is a mark on the camshaft pulley that must be aligned with the mark on the cylinder head. In this case, the mark on the crankshaft should coincide with the mark on the clutch block. If you look from below, you will see an inspection window in the clutch housing, through which you can see the marks on the crankshaft.

Disconnect the accessory drive belts. First remove the belt that drives the power steering pump, then remove the alternator belt. Next, unscrew the crankshaft pulley mounting bolt and remove it. To prevent the Matiz engine crankshaft from turning, hold it with a screwdriver inserted into the inspection window of the clutch housing. You can also use a chisel if you don't have a strong screwdriver. The main thing is to fix the crankshaft in place, holding it by the ring teeth. Remove the bolt that secures the dipstick tube bracket to the engine block. After this, move the handset to the side. Then unscrew the bolts securing the bottom cover and remove it. Unscrew the roller mounting bolt and turn the last one to loosen the belt tension. Remove the timing belt. Try not to rotate the shafts, otherwise the operation of the valves will be disrupted.

Install a new belt, first check that all marks on the shafts match. When changing the timing belt, be sure to install a new roller, because its service life is quite short. By turning the roller, achieve the required timing belt tension. Be careful not to overtighten as this will cause rapid wear. A weak tension can cause the belt to move one or two teeth. Then put everything back together in reverse order.

Changing the timing belt on a Daewoo Matiz with your own hands

IN maintenance The car includes replacing the timing belt. To do this, you can visit a service station, but you can save money if you master this procedure yourself. How to replace the timing belt of a Daewoo Matiz is described in the article detailed instructions and video.

The timing belt is a rubber rim with an inner surface in the form of teeth, which promotes better traction with gears and eliminates slipping when the engine is running. The purpose of this component is to synchronize the operation of the shafts: camshaft and crankshaft.

The long-term operation and safety of the engine depend on the quality of the material. A belt breaking while driving can have serious consequences, especially for 16-year-olds. valve engines. If a break occurs, the valves may bend, the pistons may deteriorate and the surface of the cylinders will be scratched, which will require overhaul motor or replacement.

For each vehicle, the manufacturer sets its own maintenance schedules, which are indicated in the operating instructions. For Daewoo Matiz, it is recommended to replace the timing belt after 18 months or after 60 - 80 thousand kilometers. But do not neglect regular scheduled inspection of the condition of the strap, which is performed either once a year or after 20 thousand kilometers. It is necessary to change the product if:

  • cracks, tears, and creases appeared;
  • the edges are frayed;
  • the fabric has delaminated;
  • there are traces of oil;
  • service life has expired.

Step-by-step replacement instructions

The replacement procedure is performed on a cold engine. To carry out work, it is better to drive the machine onto an overpass or inspection ditch.

Tools

To work you need to prepare:

For a 0.8 liter engine, you can purchase a timing belt 96352965 with 107 teeth and a width of 25.4 mm. For one liter power unit- 96610029 with 109 teeth and 25 mm wide. F8CV engine on a car Daewoo Matiz

Small city hatchback Daewoo Matiz made since 1998, thanks to low gasoline consumption, its own maneuverability and reliability, the car has gained great popularity in Russia. Daewoo engine Matiz 0.8 is the most basic unit that was installed on this machine.

The motor has a lot of positive properties, but it also has quite serious shortcomings. In this article we will look at the pros and cons of a small engine, its properties and repair features.

Engine F8CV

Three cylinder engine internal combustion 0.8 l began to be installed on Daewoo Matiz from the very beginning of the production of this car, and at first it was the only power unit " Matiz" Replacing the timing belt for Renault Logan 1.4 and 1.6 8 and 16. In 2003, the car also received an internal combustion engine with a volume of 1.0 liters (64 hp), and it was already 4-cylinder. 3-cylinder S-TEC engine for Korean car Developed jointly by Daewoo Motors and Suzuki, it is intended for use in small and compact cars.

The 0.8 liter engine has a somewhat unusual sound; it works as if it were a motorcycle engine. Despite the low power, Daewoo Matiz With the power unit, the F8CV picks up speed quite quickly - for the small weight of the car (less than one ton), the engine is completely enough.

The F8CV internal combustion engine cylinder block is cast from cast iron, the head cylinder block duralumin, two valves are installed in each combustion chamber. The placement of the camshaft in the engine is top, the shaft is located in the cylinder head bed. The timing drive is a belt drive; the rollers and belt need to be changed every 40 thousand km. If you do not follow the replacement instructions, the belt may break and in this case in the head cylinder block valves bend. It is impossible to allow the belt drive to break - the meeting of the valves with the pistons can render the parts of the cylinder-piston group unusable, and then repairs will be expensive.

At the Daewoo engine Matiz 0.8 technical properties following:

  • Volume – 796 cm³;
  • power – 52 l. With.;
  • number of cylinders – 3;
  • the total number of valves in the cylinder head is 6;
  • diameter of standard pistons – 68.5 mm;
  • compression ratio – 9.2;
  • piston stroke – 72 mm;
  • the fuel used is AI-92;
  • cooling – liquid;
  • power supply system – injector (distributed injection).

The crankshaft is installed in the cylinder block on 4 supports, 4 caps are tightened with bolts on top. Shaft journal diameter:

  • indigenous – 44 mm (-0.02 mm);
  • connecting rod – 38 mm (-0.02 mm).

If the crankshaft shows wear, the crankshaft needs to be ground. There are repair sizes for main and connecting rod bearings:

  • 1st repair – 0.25 mm;
  • 2nd repair – 0.5 mm.

The engine also has repair sizes for the pistons:

  • 68.75 mm (0.25 mm) – 1st repair;
  • 69.00 mm (0.5 mm) – 2nd repair.

As the cylinder liners of the block wear out, they are bored; if boring is no longer possible for the last repair, the BC needs to be relined or replacement block.

Typical faults of the F8CV engine

The Matiz 0.8 engine has good resource– with careful operation and timely maintenance, the service life of the internal combustion engine is on average 200 thousand km. But the engine has its own corresponding diseases, more frequent breakdowns. On the first Daewoo cars Matiz a distributor was installed, and this part in the ignition system was not particularly reliable. Often, due to a faulty distributor, the engine stopped starting, and because the distributor was irreparable, it had to be replaced. Replacing the timing belt Renault Logan 1.6 8 valves and 1.4: marks. Since 2008, F8CV engines went without distributors - the ECU began to control the ignition, so problems with starting the internal combustion engine decreased. Despite the fairly high reliability, the engine Daewoo Matiz 0.8 often:

  • the crankshaft is knocking;
  • piston partitions explode under piston rings;
  • The cylinder head fails.

But all these severe breakdowns occur only through the fault of motorists. The crankshaft mainly knocks due to overloads, the use of poor quality motor oil. For some reason, drivers believe that if the engine is “frivolous”, then there is no need to properly maintain it. The partitions under the piston rings on the pistons always burst due to overheating, for the same reason cracks appear in the combustion chambers of the head cylinder block.

The main diseases of F8CV often manifest themselves not so much in the motor itself, but in the attachments. The most painful place here is the generator; failure occurs especially often diode bridge. Parts most often fail in conditions of high humidity; in other cases, the generator may require repairs already at 50 thousand km.

The starter on the Matiz lasts longer; it may require repairs somewhere after 80-100 thousand km. However, on a Korean car, repairing attachments is not always advisable - the price of spare parts is low, and in some cases it is more profitable to completely replace the entire assembly than to waste time on repairing the same generator or starter.

Daewoo engine repair Matiz 0.8

Repairing a 0.8 liter engine on a Matiz is not difficult - the engine design is simple, many drivers can figure out the engine on their own. Daewoo engine repair Matiz 0.8 can be either current or capital, to current repairs applies:

  • valve adjustment;
  • replacement cylinder head gaskets;
  • replacement piston rings;
  • eliminating oil leaks;
  • replacing the oil pump.

Overhaul is required if the motor has already served its intended service life, or there are serious breakdowns:

  • the crankshaft knocked;
  • cylinder liners are worn.

To overhaul the engine, the power unit must be removed. After removing the internal combustion engine, worn parts should be discarded and replaced with new ones. Typically the break-in period lasts 2-3 thousand km. At first, the engine may consume oil, but then the rings rub against the liners, and consumption returns to normal. If the internal combustion engine continues to smoke and burns little, most likely, a secondary disassembly of the power unit will be required. There may be several reasons for the defect:

Replacement timing belt Daewoo Matiz with engine 0.8

Many car owners Matiz» For engine repairs, they turn to car repair shops, including entrusting the mechanics with replacing the timing belt. But the work of replacing parts of the gas distribution mechanism is not very difficult, and if you have even minor plumbing skills, you can do it yourself. The most important thing in this matter is to correctly set the marks on the camshaft and crankshaft - if they are set incorrectly, the valves will be bent, and the repair will then be much more serious.

We replace the timing belt on the F8CV engine as follows:

  • insert the tension roller into the fixing hole and tighten the bolt;
  • tighten the bolt and move the roller as far as possible to the side so that you can easily install the belt;
  • Having installed the belt, we tighten it;
  • We check the marks match and perform assembly.

Valve adjustment

On the engine Daewoo Matiz with a volume of 0.8 liters there are no hydraulic compensators, so the valves are adjusted manually. Typically, such an operation should be carried out once every 50 thousand kilometers; you can also adjust the valves yourself. Replacing the timing belt with Renault Logan 1.6 8 valves p. The sequence of operations here is as follows:

Close the valve cover, start the engine, listen to how the engine works. During adjustment, you need to pay attention to the condition of the camshaft cams, and if there is wear on them, it will not be possible to adjust the valves (they will knock) - in this case, you need to prepare to replace the camshaft.
