Children learn the legend about the old Duke's treasure and go in search of the map. After completing all the tasks, the children receive the treasured map and go in search of the treasure. The ghost guarding the treasure holds games and competitions to see if the kids are worthy. At the end, the guys will have a small surprise - greetings from the Duke.

Target: development of terrain orientation skills and team cohesion.

To play you need to design 3 locations:

  1. Meeting place for participants: a clearing where there are logs or benches on which you can sit.
  2. Place where players will complete tasks: with a large number of players, this territory should be quite large.
  3. Location of the treasure: here it is Ghost.

Required attributes:

  • Hat with multi-colored ribbons for dividing into teams;
  • Area plan indicating the route and stopping places for each team;
  • Stop signs;
  • Notes– tasks for finding the necessary numbers;

Leading:

Guys, many, many centuries ago there was an ancient castle in this very place. A very rich duke lived in it, whose possessions stretched for tens of kilometers around. He had a beautiful wife and three children. The children grew up and moved away, leaving their parents alone in a huge castle. His wife died soon after this, and the Duke did not want to leave the place where he was happy, although the children did everything they could to bring him to their place.

There is a version that this Duke still passes here at night, but no longer as a person, but as a ghost. Lives in the past, remembers his happy days. So, he was left alone and fired almost all the servants who could not please him. He left only a cook, a gardener and a maid, so as not to completely disappear.

And then one day they wanted evil people rob a lonely old man. Only he found out about this and hid all his precious things in advance. The thieves came but found nothing. They tortured the Duke, but he did not say a word to them. They left him alone, left, but the old man did not live long after that - he died without waiting for his sons. Since then, no one has tried to find the treasure, but no one has succeeded. Legend has it that the treasure can only be found one day a year. Today is just such a day. Let's look for the treasure buried by the old Duke!

But first, let's divide into teams. Each team will have its own distinctive sign - a ribbon of a certain color.

Children come up to the hat, take a ribbon and are divided into groups depending on the color of the ribbon.

Leading: The teams are ready. Now you need to choose a captain who will lead the rest of the group.

A captain is selected for each group.

Leading: Your task is to find the treasure of the old Duke. The place where the treasure is located is marked with a cross on the main map of the area. And to find a card, you first need to find all the numbers, and then use them to special code you will form a word. It will be the key that will help lift the veil of secrecy and find the map. To complete the tasks, you will need a map of the area.

Each captain is given a plan of the area, on which the route of each team is indicated with arrows and circles - stopping places where it will be possible to find out any number.


Leading: Let's see which team will complete the task faster and be able to find the ducal treasure.

The teams hit the road. Team paths may intersect, but should not follow the same trajectory. It is important that teams do not interfere with each other while completing tasks. Each stopping place must be marked with special signs - signs, under which there is a sheet with a detailed task.

Examples of tasks:

  • Count all trees and bushes at the bus stop, subtract the smaller from the larger number the resulting number will be the desired one.
  • Find the lowest tree and count the number of leaves on the lower branch.
  • Count the number of flowers on the lawn.
  • Identify tree species count the number of letters in their names and add up the results.
  • Measure using a meter the approximate distance between two birch trees marked with red ribbons, and round it to the nearest metre.
  • Measure the girth width the thickest tree and round it up to decimeters.
  • How many petals does a chamomile have? growing 2 meters from this tree?

The teams complete tasks, find the required numbers, and then return to the presenter and take the decryption from him. Each letter in the cipher is assigned a specific number (for example, a - 22, b - 45). Children find the required meanings and use the resulting letters to form the word “glade.”

Leading: So the location of the treasure map has been determined. I suggest everyone team up and find the map.

All groups work together to search for the hidden map in the specified location. It can be anywhere: in a crack in a tree, under a stone, under a pile of grass. The map marks the place where the treasure is hidden. Several paths lead to it, bounded on both sides by multi-colored ribbons. The children are again divided into teams: now the group must get to the place as quickly as possible along “their” path. At the indicated place, the team is met by the ghost of the Duke.

Ghost: Hello guys. Why did you come?

Leading: We want to find hidden treasures!

Ghost: Do you think you can?

Leading: We have already found a treasure map, it indicates this exact place - which means the treasure is located here.

Ghost: Maybe this is where he is. But I won't let you find it. I will confuse my tracks and hide signs!

Leading: We have already spent so much effort on finding the treasures that we simply will not turn back. You don't need the treasure anyway, so please don't interfere!

Ghost: Whether it is needed or not, I must guard it! Treasures should go only to those who have a pure soul and a kind heart.

Leading: We are ready to pass the test.

Ghost: Is everyone ready? But keep in mind that if you fail the tests, you will have to turn back.

Leading: Agreed. Really, guys?

Ghost: An important point is to support each other in difficult situations. Let's see if you can do this.

Conducts the game “Unification”. Participants are divided into two groups. Each group stands in a semicircle. The first participants are given a ball of thread. They must connect all the participants as quickly as possible with a thread, wrapping it around all the players in turn. After the last participant joins, the task changes - you need to wind the thread into a ball as quickly as possible. It is important not to tear it.

Ghost: The next test is to test your fortitude. This is a very difficult test! It is important to be united with the whole team in order to win.

Conducts the game "Pulling". The teams line up opposite each other in a column, the first being the captain. Each participant grabs the person in front by the waist. The captains of the opposing teams grab each other's hands and pull with all their might. The players' task is to help their captains win the opposing team over to their side.

Ghost: Well, you have fortitude - don’t be discouraged if you lose. But that is not all. Now let's check if you can understand each other.

Conducts the game “Spoiled Telegraph”. Participants stand in a column. Each player is given a twig. The last participant “draws” with a twig on the back of the person in front the figure that the leader named him (for example, a square). The one who had the figure “drawn” on his back “transmits” the image further as he understood it. The team captain, having received the “telegram,” draws it on a piece of paper. Then the original and what happened as a result of the “journey” of the drawing are compared.

Ghost: Well done, you completed all the tasks! This means that we are worthy to receive the treasures of the old count. So I won’t bother you - good luck in your search (leaves)!

Leading: Here you go. Now you can continue your search.

The children find a treasure and a note: “I decided to please you with sweets today. Old Duke."

Leading: What an old prankster! Never mind, next year we will still find his treasures. Now we need to find a use for the sweets that we found. I think that there will be no difficulties with this. Pirate Flint. Brave teams led by desperate captains deserve trust and respect. There will be various obstacles on your way that must be overcome. (The pirate reads out the rules for the participants in the entertainment and game program.)
The rules are very simple:
-you will have to overcome many obstacles, answer quiz questions, show courage, imagination, confidence, unity;
-Each team is given a map with the travel route. The game will consist of 10 stages of the competition, which are indicated on the map. Participants must strictly adhere to the sequence of their route;
-for each point passed, the team receives a card with a code. With the collected cards, the team proceeds to the finish line. There he finds a pirate's message, deciphers the code and finds treasure;
-players must not interfere with other teams’ route;
-players must comply with life safety rules;
-players must not cause harm to cultural monuments or green spaces of the park.

Task 1. Competition “Find the differences”.
Props: A picture with a task for each team, markers, part of the code.
Participants take turns finding differences in identical images and marking them in the picture with felt-tip pens. If a participant cannot find the difference, the team helps.

Task 2. Competition: “Decipher the puzzles”
Props: a decorated lake (blue fabric), 2 fishing rods with magnets, paper fish (rebuses on the back, a paper clip on the mouth), part of a code.


To earn the next part of the cipher, you need to be smart. Contestants take turns catching a fish with a fishing rod and guessing their puzzle (teammates can give hints). If the participants cannot solve the rebus, they catch another fish with the rebus.

Task 3. Competition - “Initiation into pirates”
Props: a piece of paper with a hint line (Because we are pirates!), part of the code.
Pirate Flint: You can't become a pirate, you have to be born. Now let's see if the blood of real sea wolves flows in your veins!

The team captain, whose eyes are blindfolded, needs to cut off the “Pirate” picture wrapped in a tube from the rope with scissors, without damaging the balloons tied nearby. Each participant, in turn, needs to finish drawing and coloring the picture “Pirate” with markers with their left hand.

Task 6. Competition “The Most Accurate”.
Props: sheets of paper, basket, part of the code.
Each participant must make a ball from paper and hit the target (basket). In cases of defeat, team members help. (After 6 balls fall into the basket, the team receives part of the code.)
Task 7. Competition “Labyrinth of Daredevils”.
Props: park playground, part of the code.
Participants need to overcome obstacles (slide down a slide, walk along a swinging staircase, climb a rope, walk through a maze, the last participant picks part of a code from a tree branch).


Task 8. Competition “Sea Knots”.
Props: part of the cipher.
The team leader turns away, and his team members hold hands tightly, forming a chain. This chain needs to be “tied” into a sea knot. Players can twist around, step over the hands of the player standing next to them, and crawl anywhere without letting go of their neighbor’s hand. After the sea knot is ready and the participants have “twisted” to the limit, the pirate crew shouts: “Polundra!” The team leader turns around and unravels the knot without breaking the chain. If the captain was unable to complete the task, the command is repeated.

Task 9. “Theatrical” competition (home preparation).

Task 10. Sports relay race.
Props: skittles, skipping ropes, hoops, balls, tennis rackets; a box with ribbons and sea stones; capsules from Kinder Surprises; part of the cipher.
One after another, participants complete the sports relay race:
- pins with pictures of sharks pasted on them, you need to knock down all the pins with a ball;
- in boxes covered with sea green fabric there are ribbons “ sea ​​waves“, at the bottom of the boxes there are decorations, you need to take out one decoration at a time and take it to the shore;
- the team captain holds a hoop on his belt. One player climbs inside, picks up tennis rackets (“oars”) and rows them. They reach the “shore” flag. The player remains “on the shore”, gives the “oars” to the captain, and the captain runs after the next player “to the ship”.
- inside the Kinder Surprise capsules there are pieces of paper with pictures, but only inside one there is a piece of paper with a code. Children must open all the capsules and find part of the code.

With the pieces of the cipher collected, the teams proceed to the finish line. There they exchange the cards for a message from a pirate, with the help of which they decipher where the treasure is located.


The presenter and Pirate Flint announce the results and hold awards. The first three teams to decipher the pirate's message and find the chest are the winners. They receive treasure from a pirate. The team receives a prize for the best performance.

A beginner in treasure hunting, after purchasing a metal detector, has a question: - Where to look for treasure? The ideal option is to look for treasures in a fishing spot. You can, of course, rummage through a bunch of literature, study history, in order to find the optimal place to search. However, this may take a lot of time; we will, of course, deal with this, but later. And now we want, at this very moment, to find something valuable. So what to do? - you ask. Quite a good option- this means driving at random and looking for treasure in a field: we saw the first plowed or harvested field, turned on the metal detector and checked for signals, first of all, if there are hills, we go to them, perhaps houses once stood, the remains of a foundation, if there are signals, Let's start searching.

Where are treasures most often found?

Based on the finds, we determine the period of life of people in this place, we will try to determine the corners of the structure, because earlier, when building a house, coins were placed under the corners, there are cases that even gold pennies were found on the corners. Wealthy people put in gold, those who were poorer put in small copper. Having roughly oriented yourself to the area, you can determine where the exit from the house was, because there was a porch, and under the porch they often buried a little jar, well, if not a little jar, then there would be coins. Also, moving further, we analyze where the buildings could have been, in barns, also, many buried their hard-earned money. We have identified outbuildings, then we look at where the vegetable garden could be located; if we see a boundary, sand-soil, we begin to carefully check this boundary. There is a high probability that you can find a egg capsule on such a border; they were often buried in such places to make it easier to remember.

You can search even in a plowed field; you can easily find a string of coins there. If there are several hills in the field, there were probably several houses there, you can try to figure out the road; coins were also lost on the road.

There is an option not to chase artifacts of the past, but to look for what was lost quite recently, for example, go to the beach. Treasure is unlikely to be hidden on the beach, but a beach search with a metal detector can reveal a lot of valuables: chains, rings, other jewelry and money.

Come to think of it, searching for treasure with coded notes was one of my favorite pastimes as a child! And I don’t understand why I still deprived my children of this.

Well, that is, I didn’t completely deprive him... Actually, I already used this method once, when I tried to make Maxim want to read). A STIMULUS was needed. And then I began to hide sweets from him and write notes where to look. Well, like there: “Sofa”. And somewhere on the sofa there is the next note, and so on about 7.
The clues gradually became more complex, turning into sentences and entire paragraphs.

And then suddenly in one of our establishments they began to conduct this kind of quests for children, with riddles, puzzles, etc. We went a couple of times and everyone liked it. And I thought - why am I being stupid? I can do it myself! And she got down to business.

The first treasure was looked for at friends' houses. Max and Maya (7 and 5 years old, respectively), and friends’ daughter Arisha (6) took part.
The tasks were not very difficult. And as a result, the children cracked them open in 5 minutes, we didn’t even have time to drink tea)). But everyone, of course, liked it.

The assignments were compiled on my knee, I don’t have them in electronic form, but I’ll remember now from the photo and write briefly. If it is useful to someone, I will be glad)

3. Anagrams: PDKZOKASA IN KLYAKSOYE. We thought it would be difficult, so we left the first and last letters in their places. In vain)). It took about two seconds to decide)
4. Replacing letters (note at top right). "A is I, I is A." And thus " washing machine" turns into "aging mishan". Also light, of course. But fun)
5. Rebus. We had “Misha’s chair” (this is Arishkin’s younger brother). Below we specifically wrote that there was no need to touch Misha, because Misha was sleeping in the crib at that time, but this did not help us)). Seeing the word “Misha”, the children immediately shouted: “Why guess, let’s just go and look near him!”))).
6. Cardano grille - my favorite from childhood). Card with holes. We put it on a piece of paper with chaotically scattered letters, and in the “windows” we see the necessary ones. The children encountered this for the first time, so we simplified the task as much as possible for them by putting the grate and the encryption itself in the same place (and even signed where it was on top). All that's left is to figure out how to combine it.
7. Ordinary riddles. We had one about an apple, and the following note was lying next to the apples in the refrigerator.
8. Cipher with simple replacement. Each of the encryptions was accompanied by a small piece of paper with a letter and number (and the note “save!”). The last task is encryption consisting of numbers.

Max was even inspired to do a similar quest for me myself). I made several puzzles, placed signs around the house and asked to go to the store under the windows to buy me a prize with the money from the piggy bank))

I wanted to write about the next quest right away (we did it today), but I didn’t have the energy left for it, I’ll write another time. It was many times more difficult. Even too much. In fact, it is very difficult to maintain a balance and stick to the golden mean. You won’t guess what will be very easy for them and what will lead to a dead end.

26 years ago, a book was published in France that suggested where its author hid the treasure - and many people are still looking for it. Englishwoman Emily Graham traveled along the path of the golden owl, reflecting on human nature.

Treasure hunting is not only a fairy-tale plot, but also a very real activity to which people of all incomes devote their time. Orienteering can be considered a “relative” of treasure hunting.

As a rule, a valuable item is buried in the ground, and lovers of quests and riddles try to find the right place using clues. This idea has repeatedly become the basis for television shows. Games are usually short-term, but some last for decades.

The project is based on a real treasure hunt in France. I thoroughly researched the process of finding treasure and spent time with those who search for it, but most of all I was interested in how the search for treasure and the disappointment of not finding it affect people psychologically. In addition, I was interested in using treasure hunting as a metaphor for the inability to find absolutes, the thirst for the unattainable.

I was researching real stories of treasure hunting and came across this - the longest running treasure hunt in the world, which continues to this day. It was difficult to find clear information about it: most of the data is in French, contradictory and scattered across blogs and chats.

The book "On the Trail of the Golden Owl" with eleven clues was published by Regis Houser in 1993 under the pseudonym Max Valentine. It was written in collaboration with artist Michel Becker, and each clue is accompanied by a picture. The clues must be sorted before they can be solved. They contain many references to light and color, references to various places and the history of France. Hunters often bring their own subjective knowledge to decisions, which results in them finding themselves in very different locations throughout France. There are many absolutely different interpretations hints, and in the online community dedicated to the treasure, many participants deliberately spread misinformation.

The treasure is a golden sculpture of an owl, although clues point to the location of a bronze replica. Apparently, over 25 years, about 200 thousand people have tried to find the treasure, and there is an association of searchers that has more than 150 active members.

The treasure was hidden somewhere in France in 1993, and Hauser thought that the treasure would be found within a few years. The story of the treasure appeared in French newspapers and on television, and for a time following its progress became a popular pastime. There were rumors that some went to extremes in their search: someone blew up a chapel, someone dug a hole in the foyer of a bank, someone tracked down a dog named Dracula, which the author apparently encountered while hiding the treasure. Houser died 16 years after the treasure was buried, and except for those members of his family who swore secrecy, no one knows where the treasure is.

Much of the hunting takes place in the players' minds rather than manifesting as physical activity - but there does seem to be a rich imaginative world associated with the players. I wasn't interested in making a literal documentary story about the search for treasure - rather, I was interested in using this story as a starting point, to think about what happens when you don't find the answers you're looking for. I wanted to make a more metaphorical story about search, desire, failure and how we rationalize it. I was interested in how I could use the limitations of photography when working with a subject such as this.

A variety of people are involved in the search - I personally met with doctors and artists. The association organizes an annual meeting at a place that has something to do with hunting, and that's where I met many of the people I spent time with. Among them are those who have followed the game for 25 years, but there are also young people who later came to hunt and were hooked. I think that after you spend 25 years searching, it is extremely difficult to leave without a clue.

I'm interested in observing how people react to the world, what dreams and fantasies overcome them, and how they cope with difficulties and disappointments. One person has a spiritual reading of the quest, and thanks to this, his life is filled with signs. He talks about this almost all the time - instead of fully participating in the life of his family - it seems to him that he is on the verge of a solution. Another person is suing the author's family to stop the search, claiming he has the right solutions and the game is fraudulent.

In the project, I wanted to draw a parallel between a treasure hunter and a documentary photographer who collects the world through photographs. I traveled around France following players' failed routes and used that as the basis for the images.

Then I started contacting hunters, asking them about their treasure hunting experiences. The conversation was fascinating - many had completely different interpretations, and as I listened to each of them, I was engrossed in their theories.

I wanted to draw a parallel between a treasure hunter and a photographer.

Along with photographs, I collected materials - clues, research, maps, photographs that treasure hunters took from the holes they dug. All this reflects a path of disappointment, false leads and energy wasted on excavations.
